I am using RHEL6,and using mainbroad ethernet device PXE network install ..kernel using wireless device install automatic. I cant choose ethernet device to install RHEL6.how can I ignore wireless device when I using network installation?

I just added a 2 port network card to a system that is running Fedora 11, but it is INACTIVE. I open the Network Device Control to activate it but there is no network ports in Network Device Control. It is empty.It looks like the system recognize the card and loaded correct driver.

I just brought up FC12 on our VSphere to begin testing..The nic did not configure properly for some reason.. I was able to go to command line, and do an "ifup ifcfg-eth0" and DHCP got an address. Go into GNOME - System-Administration - Network , or system-config-network the "Activate/Deactivate" is greyed out. Also, GNOME - System-Administration - Network Device Control show NO device..
View 1 Replies View RelatedI finally installed openSUSE along side ubuntu and xp in my ThinkPad EDGENow I am facing issue with toggling the wi-fi, I had no such problem in ubuntu.Seems like there is some issue in the thinkpad-acpi module.I use fn+F9 to toggle the wifi, which toggles both bluetooh and wifi, but on openSUSE it only toggles bluetooth.acpi_listen in ubuntu gives me the below result when I press fn+F9ibm/hotkey HKEY 00000080 00001005but in openSUSE its blank but bluetooth gets toggled. dmesg from ubuntu:

I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on a Dell Laptop. It has a Netgear WG511 (made in China) PCI wireless card but I cannot see any connections other than the wired one. Entering in lspci in the terminal mode and removing/replacing the WG511 shows (I think) that something is being detected in the PCI slot "Network Controller: Intersil Corporation ISL 3890 [Prism GT/Prism Duette]/ISL3886 [Prism Javelin/Prism Xbow] rev 01". Is this the WG511 and, if so, how do I get it to be detected as a network device?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been working on this for a while now and am absolutely stumped. Basically, what i am attempting to do is make my ubuntu box into a gateway for my network. I have everything working thru hard wire, but I simply cant get the wireless to work. No matter what I do, I cannot get my wireless card to transmit an essid and allow nodes to connect. I have tried assigning it in the interfaces file (shown below), and I have also tried manually modifying it using the iwconfig command. Here is the topology:
eth1: internet WAN
eth2: ethernet out to LAN
ra0: wireless out to LAN

Okay currently I am using a a Belkin F6D4050v1 usb wireless n card on a 32 bit intall of ubuntu 9.10. I have already installed ndiswrapper and installed the the rt2870.inf driver and rebooted. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an nc8000 that gives a "104 unsupported wireless network device detected" error when I plug in my Intel wifi card that I acquired recently. Based on reading, this is a common HP problem due to non-native HP hardware. If I insert the Intel Pro card after the HP boot screen, 10.04 loads just fine and Ubuntu detects the card.

I have a wired connection on the motherboard and a also a card for wireless communication.Wired connection works fine but my plan is now to setup wireless connection too.I was advised to use this in order to find installed network devices: sudo lshw -C network.Not sure, but I think it only reports details about the wired device. Is that correct?How could I get ubuntu to also find my wifi-card?

Watching through /var/log/messages it says that F10 detects two port device for this modem: ttyUSB1 and ttyUSB2, and in the sequence it disable port ttyUSB1 BUT Network Manager still set this port.I mean, when i connect via wvdial appointing to ttyUSB2 i get connection, but Network Manager fails to do it appointing to ttyUSB1. How to change device port in Network Manager?

when using opensuse 11.2 i get a popbox saying there are security updates ready to install. if i right-click on each update, there is a "ignore this update" button but i cannot click on it because it is greyed out.

I recently installed Open SUSE 11.2. It's a pretty cool OS. Anyway,sadly enough, I cannot access my internet connection via my USB internet modem. Worst of all, Open SUSE cannot detect the USB modem device. I am currently new to Linux and I may be overlooking something. I also clearly figured that Linux online is better than Linux offline from what I read from blogs and numerous posts. So in essence, I cannot fully appreciate the true power of Open SUSE 11.2 offline. Would there be a way to install my USB modem device?

During the setup, I was able to configure the wireless connection and use it to install additional software from the FreshRPMs and Livna repos. When the install was completed, I was surprised to find the wireless not working. When I click on the NetworkManager icon at the bottom right corner, I see "Wireless Networks" Under that it says "device not ready" and it is greyed out so it cannot be click on.

I started a fedora 15 live cd last night, and at the top right corner, i noticed that wireless was not active. Right mouse button on the internet icon showed me that fedoar recognized the usb device as it is,, a Linksys WUSB600N wireless lan.
However, fedora warned me that the firmware was not available, therefore i was not able to configure the WUSB600N. To be specific,, it's the V2 version.
My question is,, does this device work with linux fedora? i assume that i need to install the required firmware in order to use the device.
I am having a little trouble connecting to my wireless network. Running Fedora 10 32 bit.I'm trying to connect to a hidden wireless network. I updated the firmware for my driver but apparantly the driver is still not working. Broadcom has a driver from their website for Linux 32 bit systems. Should I attempt to install it? I read a post where the driver is built into the system kernel. If so I would need to blacklist the one of the drivers. Correct?

I have a HP Elitebook 6930 with Intel 5300 wireless card and today I update it from Fedora11 to Fedora 12 and now I cannot connect with my home wireless network. Previously with F11 I connected without problems but now the wireless connection presents a "Device not ready" message. I tried to switch on/off the wireless card but without results. I had to set intel_iommu=off as kernel parameter to complete the boot. Is something related to it?

Having trouble with wireless and FC11, eth0 is ok. When I try to activate wlan0 through system-config-network 1.5.97, I get msg: Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06) : SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument. Determining IP information for wlan0... failed. This is a compaq laptop.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have installed a new network multifunctional device Samsung CLX-3185FN using the drivers provided by the manufacturer (Samsung Unified Driver). The printing over the network works fine, I can administer the device using browser. The only problem I have is using scanner over the network. It works fine if I disable firewall, but is blocked with firewall enabled. I can not figure out which ports or port-range I must enable for this scanner. Do you have any information on this one or how can I found out the necessary ports to open?
