OpenSUSE :: Use Dolphin To "open Containing Folder" From Firefox Downloads?
Mar 25, 2011
When I right-click on a file in my firefox downloads window and choose "open containing folder", it opens the folder in EasyTag. I tried both of the below "solutions" and logged out and logged back in to openSUSE and it still uses EasyTag! Is it because I need a restart or is it something else?
Neither one has worked yet... [URL] Open Containing Folder in Firefox under Linux

I have been unable to open my Downloads folder for 2 days now. I've tried everything. I can get into every other folder on my machine though. I also have 103GB free space on my machine. Is there perhaps a limit on the amount of data I can have per folder? I'm running 64bit Ubuntu.

I have a very quick question (and I can't believe I can't figure this one out myself: sorry). I installed 11.04 this weekend. Now, when I download, say, a word doc using FireFox, LibreOffice doesn't by default open the file (instead, Wine tries to open it; but, alas, fails). Now, when I try to open with another application, when prompted by the Firefox download window, I have no idea how to allocate LibreOffice as the programme to open the download. I can navigate to the .libreoffice folder, for example, but then I'm presented with many other folders, with many files, etc, and I have no idea how to set LibreOffice to open the file.
I know I can save file to hard-drive, then open manually. However, I would like to be able to simply open the file directly with LibreOffice.

I'm using opensuse 11.4 64 bits on an amd 3 kernel. One day it's working fine and the following i't works all fine except konqueror and dolphin. When i try to open them it seem to be frozen (the application, not the system), but in the end they open after 3-4 minutes. Then they work well, but if i close them and open again, or if i open another window I have the same problem. Othe applications (for example firefox) launch quickly.

I've got several Dolphin windows open which are deliberately carried through
from one session to another, so I can't see why it thinks I need a new one
each time I logon.
I'm using OpensSUSE 11.2, KDE 4.4.0.

On my dual-boot system, 11.4 and win7, Iped out the Doc and DL folders in my home directory and replaced 'em with links to the ones on the windows side. It works great except for one thing: When I open Dolphin in superuser mode and change the permissions to make myself the owner of those folders, the change doesn't take. Is there a special trick to it?GEFPS: I plan to use openSUSE as my main OS, but it's easier to keep my data on the NTFS partition, because Linux speaksindows better than than Windows speaks Linux. Besides, that's where my data already lives

I've noticed that the "open containing folder" right-click menu item doesn't work in Firefox 3.6. It does nothing. That action used to open Nautilus, showing the folder where the file had been downloaded. What gives? I set up Firefox long ago to call Nautilus when asked to open a folder. Shouldn't Firefox be asking me what app to use, if it weren't set up properly?

I just installed slack 13.1 and found that when I very firsttime ran Firefox and downloaded something of the net, and in that download pop up window clicked "Open containing folder", a dialog box poped up asking "this links needed to openedapplication, choose application", I don't know the exact wordings but you can look at it yourselfI thought there was some problem with the installer so using removepkg I uninstalled Firefox, downloaded it again in tar.bz2 format, extracted, and from the folder it was extracted to, I run the Firefox.sh using bash, then when I downloaded something in this Firefox, I got the same error as in screenshot, this time too, when selecting the "Open containing folder"

under 11.2/KDE 4.35 I'm not able to move through the directory tree, neither with dolphin nor with konqueror.
If I click on a folder, a plus or minus sign appear alternately, but the folder isn't opened.
If I double-click on the folder icon, nothing happens.
So under 11.2 I just can not access the files stored under a previously installed 11.1 in the home tree (i.e in a separate partition on that HD) !
Is my machine too slow ? Do I have hardware too old (Pentium III Katmai on an Intel mainboard with onboard graphics) ?

There is some issue with the latest version of LinuxDC++ (version: 1.2.0~pre1~bzr Core version: 0.75). I have upgraded to the latest version a few days back from launchpad repos due to the frequent crashes and system hang-ups. My complete and incomplete downloads folder are same. While my download was going on, LinuxDC++ deleted all the files from the downloads folder.
After about half an hour of tweaking, I updated my database using updatedb, and found my files in ~/.dc++/Filelists/anantwqqwe.BMIU2NFCFXB7ERTSG62PRSQPRJIN63A56EEGO6Q . What does that supposed to mean and why its doing this way? This is the second time this has happened to me, the last time I was unable to locate the deleted files on my system and I suppose they were not there. I use 64-bit Ubuntu 10.10(maverick).

I have a fresh install of ubuntu 10.04 lucid .... When I went to download some files via firefox, I noticed that the downloads would stop before the download is complete. I tried to download a small 8MB file and it reached almost 4MB then the download simply stopped and firefox incorrectly informed me that the download was finished.. I tried several more downloads after that of various other files and the same thing happens. I have never had trouble downloading files before. I upgraded to firefox 3.6.13 before I noticed this problem so I do not know if it was doing it before I upgraded as this is a fresh ubuntu install.

During downloads, the top command shows the Firefox process at 100% CPU. Yesterday I tried to download an .iso image. After a few hours the Firefox window would not refresh nor would it respond to input. I tried the wget command. It used negligible CPU time and completed in 28 minutes.
This problem is easy to reproduce because it happens every time I download a file in Firefox. It also happens when I use a fresh profile to run Firefox without any extensions or plugins.
This is Firefox 3.6.12 on Fedora 14.

Just upgraded from FC11 to 13 a few days ago and came across a wierd problem with firefox. When downloading files thru firefox, Firefox starts consuming more and more memory/cpu cycles until the system hangs. This only happens when downloading thru firefox. Doesnt take too long either. Otherwise everything else works fine.
