I am running Opensuse 11.3, KDE 64 bit. I have a nvidia GeForce 9400 GT graphic card.Somehow Dolphin and Firefox cannot show picture preview.It comes out like this; ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing ImageBam - Fast, Free Image Hosting and Photo Sharing.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI cannot use preview function in Dolphin to preview JPG files that the size is bigger than 3MB. It is no problem when the photos' size are smaller than 3MB. Do any one got the same problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedDolphin crashes when previewing PNG files - with other image files (PS, PDF, JPG, DVI) when you roll the mouse over the file you get a preview pic in the top right corner - when I roll it over a PNG file, it halts for a second then crashes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedSince I upgraded to 11.3 I don't see that the View > Preview mode is broken. Image icons are created, but they all look like the icons in the picture below. When I move the zoom slider the largest sized icons come out fine. Anyone an idea how to solve this problem? Is there any repository that I can use to get more recent versions that should have fixed these bugs? I just noticed that PNG images come out right, so it could be something related to JPG files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter I manually installed multimedia codecs, like w32codecall, I got Linux to play movies and I also got thumbnail previews of them in Dolphin. However, I noticed that recently Dolphin doesn't display my thumbnails anymore. I don't quite recall whether the any video player could use my installed codecs, at least xine works. The only thing that could have caused that is actually the automatic system updates I received. I still have my multimedia codecs installed, but Dolphin doesn't show the movie previews anymore.

When opening nautilus there are no image previews.Only if i watch the image with eye of gnome and than klick thereload button, the pictures are shown. is this a bug or feature?how can i switch this back to the default where image previews areshown when i open a folder without viewing it with eye of gnome?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHi everybody! I am completely stumped with KDE's Dolphin's preview policy. It started with me realizing that when as much as I mouse over an encrypted file (say, an ODS file created and encrypted with OpenOffice), KDE pops up a password prompt. The culprit identifies itself as kio_thumbnail. This is a feature so apparently useless, I would like to disable it no matter what. I know a work-around: hiding the Information panel seems to work. But I like the information panel. On top of that, the same kio_thumbnail does on occasion decide that my computer is underutilized (it feels like it happens during the idle times). It allocates my entire RAM, all 4 GiB of it, and does something fancy. It doesn't crash, however, and goes away a few minutes after I poke the computer.
I don't want a daemonized thumbnailer, is there a way to disable kio_thumbnail or make it be quiet and do nothing? I tried fooling around with Dolphin. I went into Settings / Configure Dolphin... and
1. Disabled all services,
2. Unchecked everything in General / Previews.
I did the same to Konqueror.
As far as I can tell, this had no effect whatsoever. Dolphin still previews all the files it previewed before, and still tries to preview encrypted files when Information panel is open. I am running unmodified Dolphin 1.4 on KDE 4.4.3, the same ones that came with Slackware 13.1 x64.
I've installed 11.4 KDE x86-64,which downloaded last night,a GM version. Things working great except 2 thing : SCIM & wifi.SCIM Chinese input works great when 11.3 KDE,but in 11.4 KDE it ONLY works in Dolphin,not works in Firefox.........

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a customer that was raving how he likes windows 7. I asked him what he saw improved over xp, and he could only list the mouse hover preview of tasks in taskbar and media player could show all songs with word black in title. I am training my 3 and 5 year old on Ubuntu, and they (& wife) cannot grasp the difference between bottom taskbar and top applications menu. Even on my xp machine they freak out (including 10 year old with computer classes) when I minimize their applications to work on my own when they get up from the dining room machine.
And, so I though I would download "Visual tray tip" which mimics the taskbar preview on mouse hover. But on my 6 gig hard drive, p3 650 mhz 1 gig ram living room notebook (mainly flash educational gaming for kids) I really would like such a task bar preview. But upgrading Ubuntu is out of the question, since it is a functioning machine with 211 megs free on drive, and I have no stomach, time, or wish to kill it by an upgrade. So, am wishing for a sudo apt-get install solution.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy notebook has an external monitor connected with 1280x1024 pixels.
As long as the resolution of the external monitor is set to 1024x768 I can watch video with VLC, mplayer etc.
But once I set its resolution to 1280x1024 all mediaplayer play only sound. This happens on the external screen and on the built-in screen of the notebook. The desktop is extended to the external screen.
I've just upgraded to Maverick and as the Me menu works with Empathy I started to use it as my default IM client.
But no matter what I do, it won't show my picture.
I tried resizing the picture to 96x96, I tried to convert it from jpg to png. I tried uninstalling the program with apt-get remove --purge. I tried also removing the ~/config/Empathy directory and all others related to the program and then reinstalling it but nothing seems to work.
I even made a video aboout it, maybe I'm doing something wrong: [URL]

I tried both of the below "solutions" and logged out and logged back in to openSUSE and it still uses EasyTag! Is it because I need a restart or is it something else?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old Compaq Pro desktop with Ubuntu 8.04 installed. been using it without a major problem until four days ago. When I attempted to boot all I got was a screen with green vertical lines at the top and horizontal yellow, red, and orange lines below that. Since I recently had downloaded a new kernal I tried to use another kernal but that got the same result. I tried to boot with a live cd and finally got it to boot in low graphics mode. I have also tried to boot into the safe mode and tried the recovery option.got the following warning:xserver-xorg postinst warning: overwriteing possibly customized configuration file; backup in /etc/X11/xorg.conf .20100323151611I have no idea what that means or what I should do. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I would really hate to wait the 30 some odd days for 10.04 to come out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been using Ubuntu 10.04 for a couple months now and am currently using it with Firefox 3.6.3 and Thunderbird 3.0.4. I was wondering if it was possible to view thumbnails when trying to upload a picture (e.g. to eBay) or adding a picture as an attachment to an email rather than just having a list view and having to click on each picture to get a preview. I have quite a lot of pictures and it becomes a bit time consuming trying to find the right one to upload.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter taking a first look onto internet under Fedora linux (using Firefox web browser) I've saw that every single image is displayer much much worse than in same Firefox under Windows. Especially when scaling, it became pixelized, but even without scaling it is smoothen very much. I've checked Konqueror but quality is bad too and the same as in Firefox. What could be the reason and how could I fix it?
BTW, everything in linux GUI looks a little worse, including font, etc, looks smooth. Images under IrfanView too, but not as bad as in browsers. Proprietary Nvidia driver from RPMfusion is installed and 3D works. But running Fedora under VirtualBox in Windows produce same bad quality as in native Fedora.
I have two kinda weird problems that have been preventing me from wasting my time!
1. I can go to a flickr page and see the first picture fine. When I use the browse buttons and/or try and change to another picture, firefox crashes.
2. When viewing pictures in facebook (the only reason I use it is to share pictures with my far-off family who doesn't get to see my kids often) the pictures are very badly pixelated.
I'm using an Acer Aspire laptop (Intel 915 graphics, celeron processor, 1.5GB ram) with a completely up to date Fedora 12 installation. The weird part is, my wife's netbook, (1GB ram, Intel 945 graphics) with Fedora 12, displays everything fine. I'm cometely stumped how one machine is having such issues while another isn't. This problem existed in F10 when I used up until the F12 release so I'm presuming it is a graphics card problem (???) since the software and OS has changed.Does anyone know what might be going on or how I can check?
I'm trying to use Pinta Image Editor but I cannot find an option to preview the image, in a viewable size, before I work on it.

i had just edited a picture in digikam that was going to be my new desktop wallpaper.when i went into system/preferences/appearance to make the new change it would not show the new picture that i had just edited as a choice to change my new wallpaper to. then i tried closing the appearance box and it would not close.then i shut down and restarted and when i bring up the appearance box it does not let me click on anything within.also can't close it.seems like other applications are working normally.

Some versions ago you could do it normally. But now it's impossible. You can just move the thick line that indicates the limit of the print area.Has anybody noticed this? Is there any solution? In Ooo for Windoze it's possible, but I prefer not to use it unless is absolutely necessary.
