OpenSUSE Install :: Open Suse 11.3 Along With Win 2008 R2 OS - Error "Win2008 R2 Is Not Supported In Open Suse Installer"
Mar 6, 2011I am trying to Install Open Suse 11.3 (burned as an ISO DVD) along with existing Win 2008 R2 OS. When I try to boot from the DVD it just logs in to Win2008 though boot from CD/DVD is enabled in the boot sequence. So i tried to mount the ISO and run from Windows ! BUT I get an error before installation starts telling that Win2008 R2 is not supported in open suse installer! Is there anything I can do to overcome this and install/retain both OS? In fact I am even trying to c hange my win2008 from R2 to Enterprise to see if I can overcome the problem!

Mar 11, 2011When I click download DVD 4.7 GB, on any browser (I tried in Firefox, Opera and Chrome) It started to download 4.3 GB instead of 4.7- The first Download was 4.2 GB and I though that was wright, but the checksum didn't match. Now It started download only 4.3 GB Why is that? How can I solve this ?

Dec 7, 2010Trying to install on a: Dell Precision T3500 OpenSuse 11.3 keeps showing the following message:
"Make sure CD number 1 is in your drive"
I ordered the DVD from the OpenSuse site, so they ARE NOT burned copies. I also tried burning images, the same problem happens. No matter what I do, it does not go beyond this message.

Ubuntu :: Firefox Running Really Slowly?
Feb 25, 2011Firefox is running really slowly for me. It seems it's accessing the hard drive constantly (as seen through System Monitor).I'm running 10.04If I start Thunderbird and Firefox invariably the disk drive light just keeps flashing for minutes and the Firefox screen gets "grayed out" and everything just slows way down. Often I just throw the power switch to shut the computer off.

Feb 25, 2010I just installed Ubuntu 9.10 and I was messing around with some settings and all that. I went to System > Preferences > Appearance > Visual Effects. I then proceeded to enable the "Extra" option. I was prompted to restart my computer for the effects to take place. Now it is running somewhat slow, for example when I open up Firefox, or any other program, it loads very slowly. I went back to change the Visual Effects back to "None" but it was already on that option, I don't know why. I went to my Hardware Drivers and I didn't have the recommended graphics driver on, so I put the recommended on and that had no help.

I deleted the linux mint because I was only testing it, but Hardy has been my stable (trusted) distro for quite some time.I've actually booted into xp to write this because Hardy had got too slow.I've spent the day downloading Ubuntu 10.04 and Linux mint 9, but both failed to install when I tried.

I downloaded Blender today to try my hand at making some 3D graphics. I have used it in the past on a windows machine and it ran smoothly. This time I have downloaded it onto a computer with similar specs but it runs very slowly. The program is laggy and slow to respond to both keyboard and mouse input. When I checked the system monitor it said that I am using 50% of my cpu and 1/6th of my memory running both Blender and Firefox(to write this post). The machine is running no hotter than usual and the fans do not seem to be being stressed at all.
Does anyone know what could be causing the program to run so slowly?

Feb 11, 2010Has anyone else noticed that Firefox started running incredibly slowly?It just happened on two of my computers (one 9.10, the other 8.04 LTS).After starting firefox, it just sits and sits while trying to load a page. Even a local page (my router's config page). It literally takes about 5 minutes to load URL...Other internet apps are working fine, including Opera, which is how I'm writing this.

Mar 23, 2010Im running suse 11.2 on a gateway lt3103u during boot i noticed the screen goes dim. i thought nothing of it untill i tried to watch *ahem* educational video *ahem*. ive found that no matter what program i use xine vlc or anything else that video sets the screen to dim as if it were in power saving mode. this problem also occurs when i close the lid. it locks the screen into dim mode. in both cases i can use both Fn keys and the power management widget to reset it to bright, but this problem is annoying having to keep turning it back u to see.

UPDATE:I've downloaded the correct drivers but it still says that my hardware does not support Desktop enhancements etc ... I think the GeForce 8600 XT just doesn't support 3D accelleration ... period.Can someone suggest a reasonably priced video card that is easy to install and which supports 3D Accelleration please?

Jan 9, 2011Windows redraw very slowly when you move them, i.e. you move window and it redraws when you passed about half of the screen. Everything except that works fine as usual. Maybe anyone has any ideas what could happen?I have OpenSuse 11.3 with KDE 4.4.4, Radeon HD 4870 (proprietary drivers, but i've installed it long ago and it's likely not the problem).
