View 2 Replies View RelatedI find that the FC 15 Xfce spin will save the user's current session except that it doesn't save what is being done with the Lyx editor. Under FC 15 Gnome 3, I found that after I added the minimize-maximize-close buttons to the top of windows, that some of the windows in Lyx (such as the one that appears for View as DVIPS) didn't respond to those buttons. (I don't remember whether Gnome 3 saved the Lyx session and I've gotten rid of Gnome 3 now.)
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust incase anyone is suffering from the same problem as I was after upgrading to 11.3 that there was no such file or directory in /var/lib/nxserver/db/running/sessionID. I found the answer in another forum and thought i would post it here. Basically there is a change in the openssl library used to calculate the md5sum used by nx which stopped it from connecting.
Putting
COMMAND_MD5SUM="md5sum"
at the end of /etc/nxserver/node.conf fixes the problem.

I've read several accounts of users who upgraded Ubuntu versions and ran into problems. I read that putting /home on a separate partition can make it easier to do upgrades. But it seems to me application versions and even the default applications themselves change so much between Ubuntu releases that I question whether it's a good idea to have all the "OLD" config files and settings that get stored in /home sitting around when running a new Ubuntu release.Does anyone think it's a better idea to just put the whole Ubuntu install (i.e., / and /home) on the same partition? And then when upgrading, backup, and then just fresh install everything (to get the cleanest possible installation)?

View 1 Replies View Relatedtoday I had (once again) a bad experience with the Openoffice.org version shipped with OpenSuSe 11.2 (in this case OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 OOO320m19 (Build:9505) ooo-build 3.2.1.3) which is labeled stable. In calc, double borders (format --> cells --> borders 1,1pt) disappear after saving and reopening. After almost getting crazy and reactually onlyformatting the same spreadsheet far to many times, I realized I was not too stupid hitting the save button and decided to install the plain vanilla version (as I had done on a previous version on my laptop due to another novell edition bug I cannot recall.) Luckily the plain vanilla version has not this bug. However, since I like some of the features the novell edition offers (namely colored tabs and .xlsx export support) and I generally prefer installing software through repositories where possible, and of course because it is my duty as an opensource user. I would like to know were to report a bug that is specific to the version of a program shipped with OpenSuse.

The first launched program that uses sound, "takes over" the sound or smth, anyway, all programs, started next, just not play sound at all. The only solution is to close all programs using sound and start one I need to "listen". When I get into sound settings menu and see the list of programs using sound, I see just one started first.

I have just recently switched from Gnome to KDE in 11.2 since there was some sort of major KDE update that fixed the issues I had been having with KDE. Ever since, I have not been able to get miro to load. I try to run it and all I get is the bouncing logo, then nothing. When I try to run Miro in terminal, I get this:

i been getting errors when trying to use zypper from the console. This happens in 2 pcs, and errors seem to be the same,One has 11.4 + gnome 2, standar installation (with gnome) from 11.4 DVD. The error i get whenever i run something like zypper install xxxyyy.rpm or zypper update is:

I dont know if its related, but the one with gnome 3 constantly gives me (what i think is) a kernel panic when i shut down the system, it happens fast and the text on the screen is not "linear" but spread all over the screen, so i cant read the whole message, but it does say something about glib and corruption.This is actually the first time(s) ibe seen a kernel panic ever since i used ubuntu.
Ubuntu has been very good for us, fast, small foot print, But just yesterday it decided not to boot up. It gets to the login screen, and shows a warning... "Install problem, the Gnome power management configuration installed incorrectly, contact your administrator" What can I do to free this up?

Now is it the Camera? 'Coz when I've had the cam installed on Windows XP it wouldn't work on MSN either. But if it the camera then, why does it work locally like it should on the net....

We created a function where you can configure the program using any web browser from a network so we do not want anybody to have access to the fedora except for out personnel.
