Does anybody installed PeopleSoft People Tools 8.50 on Red Hat Lunux. If yes can you list challenges you have been faced and any spcific kernel settings you did to make peoplesoft works. We are in the process of installing PeopleTools on LINUX.

The under line of files of windows is messy and loads self every where and very bloated with windows and windows vista and windows 7 very much so.I'm not sure if Linux /Mac OS X is like this or not .
I know windows needs to support alot more software and hardwar but is that not where drivers come in for the hardware.And programmers need to write the software for windows or Linux / Mac OS X.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust incase anyone is suffering from the same problem as I was after upgrading to 11.3 that there was no such file or directory in /var/lib/nxserver/db/running/sessionID. I found the answer in another forum and thought i would post it here. Basically there is a change in the openssl library used to calculate the md5sum used by nx which stopped it from connecting.
Putting
COMMAND_MD5SUM="md5sum"
at the end of /etc/nxserver/node.conf fixes the problem.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (2.6.31-20-generic) and I've installed my camera (Microdia Win2 PC Camera 0c45:613b) and it works fine and everything locally. But as soon as it connects to a contact on MSN or skype and I've tried a web chatroom aswell. and same issue.
Now is it the Camera? 'Coz when I've had the cam installed on Windows XP it wouldn't work on MSN either. But if it the camera then, why does it work locally like it should on the net....

I'm doing a research to protect my pc from physical access. What I'm facing here is that my company created a program for fedora 8 and plans to sell the unit away. We created a function where you can configure the program using any web browser from a network so we do not want anybody to have access to the fedora except for out personnel.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI put my skype chat on another workspace so I can focus on my school work and I have two windows on my first workspace so that i can alt tab easily but every time someone talks on skype it comes to my first work space and ruins my alt-tabbing comfort. How do I make it stay in its workspace and leave me alone? I rather something in the taskbar blink or if that's not possible, I just want no blinking at all. This is frustrating me since I need my laptop for my homework.

I have tried using the gconf-editor to see if I can disable it but don't know if that is the correct way of doing it. I also looked in /etc/xdg/menus and really don't want to miss with that.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI currently have an LDAP database on my Suse 10.2 server for managing authentication and controlling emails for my Cyrus email server. I use this setup to provide email functionality to my web and email hosting clients, as well as DNS functionality, and it uses the default LDAP database that was setup when OpenLDAP was initially configured. Email support is working wonderfully, I might add. I also tested and verified the use of an email lookup directory in two different email clients (Outlook and Evolution) so that I can tell one of my clients how to lookup the email address of users who are setup in the LDAP server, and it works beautifully.
However, I'd also like to be able to allow my clients to build a shared contact database that can also be used in their email clients so that they can share them among all of their users. Ideally, I would need to be able to allow each client to have their own database of shared contacts, and I assume this would be done by creating a new LDAP database for each client company (i.e. group of users) that can contain the list of shared contacts for any of that client's users. When they configure their email client directory settings, they would enter the base path to their database in order to retrieve their shared contact database entries.
In my web searches, I've found plenty of CRM solutions on the web that claim to provide this type of functionality, but I believe that OpenLDAP contains everything I need to make this work without adding another layer of software to the server solution. (I subscribe to the "Keep it Simple, Stupid!" approach whenever possible.) Essentially, I need to have People entries in a client's LDAP database that are NOT email users on the system. The fields in the standard people schema are all the fields they would need - as long as I can figure out how best to add these non-user entries in the LDAP database. Are there any potential difficulties in creating additional LDAP databases expressly for this purpose?
Are there any tricks to adding contact entries into a client's LDAP database without them also being current email users on the server, so that those entries can be retrieved through an Email Client directory lookup? I will also want to provide an easy method for my client users to add new entries to their LDAP contact database, most likely through a web interface for them that could then issue LDAP commands on the server based on the input fields for the new contact. (I don't believe this is possible from within the email client itself.) Is there any reason this could not be done with the proper configuration? What should I be aware of as I setup this contact management web interface? Is there a better way for non-technical client users to manage this list of shared contacts?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've read several accounts of users who upgraded Ubuntu versions and ran into problems. I read that putting /home on a separate partition can make it easier to do upgrades. But it seems to me application versions and even the default applications themselves change so much between Ubuntu releases that I question whether it's a good idea to have all the "OLD" config files and settings that get stored in /home sitting around when running a new Ubuntu release.Does anyone think it's a better idea to just put the whole Ubuntu install (i.e., / and /home) on the same partition? And then when upgrading, backup, and then just fresh install everything (to get the cleanest possible installation)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use my ubuntu computer to watch some movies that are encoded into 5.1 sound I can't hear the voices of the people in the movie. I guess that is because the voices are put on the front speaker and I have connected the computer to an stereo-amplifier.
I mainly use XBMC and have noticed the problem there but I have also tried VLC and noticed the same problem there. In xbmc I checked the box "Downmix multichannel audio to stereo" but it doesn't work.
I use a standard ubuntu 10.04 64-bit install that was upgraded from a 9.10 install.
Does anyone know what is the best open source proxy solution out there? And can not get my network setup correctly to allow people to connect externally from my LAN. I have forwarded every relevant port I could find to the computer hosting TS, I forwarded them first as their respective protocols, and then as the combined UDP/TCP. I tried Forwarding single port numbers, and then port ranges.I have also tried uninstalling selinux.I have tried connecting directly to my cable modem with the server.I had this working perfectly three months ago with all the same software, using the same guide I listed above.The only thing I can imagine has changed is my operating system itself with system updates.
My network looks like:
Comcast cable modem--->Netgear WNR3500L Router----->Ubuntu 10.04 x86 desktop edition
what else I could possibly check? I can connect to and manage the TS server fine using localhost:9987 or 192.168.1.x:9987, it just wont allow any connections from outside the network.
Currently i'm doing a script for my project and I want to prevent people from exiting the terminal by clicking the "X" at the top right. when I run the script, user cannot exit out of the terminal unless the scipt finish running.
