The point ( x and y co-ordinates) are not hardcoded, and are coming from another file (another piece of code written in c / python). I was thinking to use Glade with c/python to create this. But, I am not sure how to start with this.

It does boot up with Grub etc; then the Ubuntu load up bar thing with the timer spinning around [I hope you can understand this technical language!] goes through ok but then instead of getting the user interface with the little boxes to enter my login and password, the whole screen is in black (as if it's in Terminal mode). This black screen then asks me for my login and password: when I entered them, it said:

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a network set up that has been working for around a year with no problems but has now developed a login problem. The system was set up with a main server with all users on it and another PC located elsewhere that people could log onto using there personal login and password that then gained access to the account on the main server. This remote PC has now got the problem. When you try to log onto an account it comes up with the message "your session has lasted less than 10 seconds. If you have not logged out yourself this could mean there is a installation problem or that you are out of disk space."
Error message says that no profile for the user can be found and it couldnt create per-user gnome configuration directory. I can log on as root onto the remote PC as it is obviously a local account but all the account on the main server are not accessible. From the root account I can see that the connection to the server is OK and I can actually log into the accounts on the server using the failsafe session so the physical network is OK.
I never built or designed this set up and to be honest I normally work with windows so its all a bit strange to me. Both PC's run Centos 5. I have checked the messages log and there doesnt seem to be any indication of a problem. Just that it stopped connecting from the remote PC. The accounts are all active on the main server itself and have no problems being accessed.
Is there a way to create a user that will not show up in the GDM login screen? This user also needs to have sudo access

I'm trying to set up squid proxy as a replacement for a cgiproxy perl script.I would like to be able to hit it with a url, and have it pass everything back to the browser, something like URL... much the same way the cgiproxy script works.
This is my first time messing with squid, and I am completely lost. Does anyone have a link to some very detailed step by step instructions on how to do this?Can someone please tell me *which* kind of proxy I'm looking for? I see "interception proxy" or "transparent proxy" and a bunch of other terms thrown around in the docs, but nothing I have seen tells me which of those I'm actually looking for, or if what I'm trying to do is even possible with squid.

i m not able to create new user account to my new install of 11.2 don't know whether it occured due to update problem or some installation failure. when creation a new profile through yast it gives a warning sub-domain not started and quits however a new user get added through cli but with no profile of its own. that user cant log into gui enviroment and when he/she logs through cli it automatically tranfers it profile to "/"(i.e root) i m using kde4.3
View 9 Replies View RelatedIf I create a user with Yast using ldap than at some later point delete that users ( also using Yast ) I cannot recreate a user of the same name until I have rebooted the machine, which seems a bit excessive ! Closing and reopening Yast doesn't work, it still thinks the users exists. Even though it doesn't appear in the Yast and if you look in the ldap browser it is gone. Is there something else that need restarting ( other than the whole box )

I want to create a user on my opensuse 11.4 computer, for the sole purpuse of using it to access network shared data (eg samba, nfs, etc). This user must be in the "Users" group, but it must NOT be able to login directly on the computer, i dont want him to show up on the GDM users list at logon, he must not be able to login to a terminal, etc.
How can i add a user like that? must he belong to a specific group?
Does anyone know how to contact the people at bugs.kde.org ?I have tried to register but the site is not excepting the @ in my email adress.As a result, I never get the logon info.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust incase anyone is suffering from the same problem as I was after upgrading to 11.3 that there was no such file or directory in /var/lib/nxserver/db/running/sessionID. I found the answer in another forum and thought i would post it here. Basically there is a change in the openssl library used to calculate the md5sum used by nx which stopped it from connecting.
Putting
COMMAND_MD5SUM="md5sum"
at the end of /etc/nxserver/node.conf fixes the problem.
I cannot login to kde with my username, even in failsafe mode.
When I'm trying to do it I get a blank screen for a sec and fallback to kdm.
I can start kde as mythtv user, and I can also start plasma-desktop manually from gnome3.
I tried to remove .kde4 folder but nothing changed.
MySQL gets installed with root user by default, root user can administer every mysql database installed in the system. Question is how to create a new user that will not be able to administer all the databases in the system the way as root user is? Can it be done using webmin?

One down side to this is that the isolation doesn't allow local clients to talk to one another and if they did, I would want it routed through the gateway. Is it possible to enable proxy arp on only the interface which the clients are connected (eth1) to make the gateway forward traffic between local clients?

I cannot see what the problem is here. I have installed MySQL 5.1.36 via YaST on my openSUSE 11.2 (32-bit) system.I can log in as root. I can "create user MY_user identified by 'my_passwd';" and a new user is created. But I cannot log in to the database using that new user name. I keep getting the message:

On openSUSE 11.4 KDE, is it possible to show user pictures in the Login screen? I added a picture to my user account in the "Password & User Account -- KDE Control Module" but when I logout the picture does not show in the Login screen.

All works well, but I can't get the nice icons for user login in kdm.
Of course, I tried to change this in kde system config, but with no result. In fact what I do there do not change anything.
I suspect some sort of permission problem, but how can I simply reset all the global kde settings (The problem arise before login)
How can I enable "Auto Login" for root user?In " Yast --> Security And Users --> User And Group Management --> Expert options --> Login Settings " is just my own user and there's no root user to choose.
