Tonight I bought an HP LaserJet 1020 on Craigslist. Installed it and printed a test page without any trouble. But when I try printing a multi-page document, it only prints the first page, and then I get a message saying it may be disconnected. It's not, but I waited a loooooong time and the successive pages didn't spit out.
View 9 RepliesI upgraded my openSUSE 11.2 KDE to version 11.3, and now my Canon Pixma ip1800 Printer no longer prints. It appears to me that the upgrade may have removed one or more files that the printer needs, but I don't know.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've recently decided to switch the first of four machines on my LAN from windows to Linux (PB I Media 1gb ram, 160hdd Intel Core2 Duo 6300 1.86ghz. After a couple of weeks distro hopping I have decided that I like OpenSuse 11.4.
I have an Epson Styus SX515w connected to my router via wifi. I googled the subject and downloaded this driver from the Avasys website. epson-inkjet-printer-stylus-tx550w-series-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm. I checked the documentation and my model is supported. So I installed the rpm from a local directory via Yast.
Then I go into Yast > Hardware > Printers, (I have to disable the firewall first so Yast can find the printer on the LAN.) The New Printer Config Wizard shows it as Model: Epson sx510w Connection: ipd:/192.168.2.4.515/PASSTHRU Description: Epson Epson Stylus SX510w. (mine is a 515w). Anyho, Yast cannot find any matching drivers. If I click "Find More" Yast finds Epson drivers but no for my model. I've tried different search strings too.
So my question is. How do I tell Yast to use the driver I have installed?
I checked in Yast > Software and it lists the driver as installed I also ran this command in terminal user@linux-rk0o:~> rpm -qi epson-inkjet-printer-stylus-tx550w-series-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486
The resulting output confirms the package is installed.

At the mo my printer works but spits out pages of text (looks like some kind of commands)
when I try to view my root directory of my website.if I go to URL... on my computer, it always loads the "It Works!" page. I deleted the original index.html page, and even replaced it - but if I go to URL... it KEEPS coming up.If I specify the page I want to view, ie.URl... it loads the right file.Is there a setting in the conf file that Im missing?

(I connect it through the USB printer port on a DLink DI-524UP router) Everything seems ok so far, except that I cannot find any means of specifying that printing should start from the last page.

It is not a real problem that printer want print, it just want print 10 or 15 or 20 pages from tractor bin. I get message: '/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertoepson failed. It stopped printing after every page, send message, I have to cancel error message, then I can print again. All this is happened if I try to print one by one page from front of printer, I just have to print page with command <ctrl>P.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed F15 LXDE RC from the livecd and connected my USB Brother All-In-One MFC-5440cn printer. After following the Brother installation page, the Cups & LPR drivers are installed but when I'm in the cups page (http://localhost:631/admin), the printer will not print a test page or print from any application. The LCD panel on the printer does show 'receiving data' but nothing comes out. The last version of Fedora I had running was F13 and the same printer worked fine.
Are there any other printer drivers I need to install besides the Brothers? The printer does show up in the Print Manager but nothing prints. I did have this same type of issue with Mageia Beta 1 and ended up installing a2ps, which wasn't included in the original print drivers, and it is now printing. So I had to install a2ps with F15 but still no print output. Something must have changed with the recent distros causing this. After looking at the output of dmesg I see this:

Any idea why it's failing to connect to Cups or any idea how to find out? Is it possible to have too many USB devices connected? I'm using a 4 port usb hub in use and also using a usb mouse/keyboard connected.
I have 2 pc connected to a HP officejet j6480 1 pc connect by usb the other is eth via a router. The eth pc will not print anything but a test page. It it open a print box but won't give a option to print. The other pc is also on the same router. USB print fine.

If they are not used very often, they dry out, the print heads get packed up, it's an expensive mess to deal with when times comes to run off some prints. The printers are physically connected to a Windows machine to which my Ubuntu computer is networked.It would be helpful if there was a utility that could initiate a test page print job on the machines, which could be scheduled to run once a week or so. The problem is that it works fine but only with few selected applications
Adobe Reader works fine Foxit reader fails Document viewer and image viewer prints the page but doesn't fit them inside the margins and they are either cut on the edges or look ugly
Printing from browsers doesn't work either. I always have to do 'print to file' in pdf format
Then pray rigorously that the pdf print is nice and then print using Adobe reader

I can print OK through windowsXP on virtualbox, printer is found OK.
Everything was fine until latest update.
Also my USB TV card doesn't work anymore, it also was OK before the update.

I have Linux Xandros Debian software on my Asus Eee PC, and for 3 years now I have been trying to buy a Colour Scanner that works. It does not have to be a stand alone Scanner, it can also be an All-in-One. I have been told the HP has the most chance. However I bought a HP Deskjet F2280, that the salesman guaranteed would scan with Linux, but it did not. And never has. I am unable to add my USB printer via the YaST2 Printer Configuration setup tool in openSUSE 11.3. The printer, a Dell Color Laser 1320c, was last used with openSUSE 11.2, and setup was entirely uneventful. No driver is provided by Dell, so I used the Fuji Xerox DocuPrint C525A Linux driver. The problem: To add a print queue in 11.3, a Connection must be specified (parallel, USB, network, etc). However, the configuration wizard fails to show the presence of the USB print device.

This printer was working just eight weeks ago under 11.2, and 11.3 is obviously able to detect its presence and identify it correctly. I feel certain the solution is simple, but I haven't found documentation that provides the answer.

My webserver accesses a backend mySQL server using CentOS5
The last week, I have been getting a "page Load Error" on my web server whilst others told me they are getting a "broken link" error when they try to access my web site. It has been working fine for the last 12 months until last week.
ADSL, modem and router okay according to service provider (verizon)
I can ping my IP address and my domain name.
# netstat -tap
shows http and https both processes running.
# service httpd restart
no issues
I shut down firewall and tried again, but got the same "page load error".
I am unable to connect to my printer wirelessly. I get this: Idle - "Connecting to printer..." The computer never connects. I can print a configuration report and get the ip address. If I type that in a webrowser, I get an error: unable to connect. Even if I plug the printer into the computer by a usb, I am unable to access the printer's ip address in the webrowser. I'm not sure how to proceed on getting the printer working wirelessly. It is a hp 6940 I use the HP Deskjet 6940 Series hpijs, 3.10.2rc1.9 driver. I have only recently been having printer problems. The printer has been hooked up on the same network for years. It still prints via usb.

When i connect the printer, Debian doesn't recognize my printer as the Photosmart B109 printer for unknown reason. When i go to the site of HP and search for a driver, it directs me to this site:I've downloaded that latest hplip file as a .run file and installed it.
