Hardware :: Wireless Mouse Doesn't Work On Ubuntu10.10?
Dec 15, 2010
Last night I installed Ubuntu 10.10. Everything is going on very well. But after installation when I reboot the system my A4 TECH WIRELESS MOUSE (MODEL-G3-230)does not work. Its pointer is moving freely but no left or right click is working. My Keyboard is working fine without problem. Is there any solution to this problem?
I got myself a shiny M305 Logitech mouse for my laptop. It comes with a littlee USB wireless dongle. When I plug in the dongle, DMESG shows me that the system notices the dongle:
usb 5-1: USB disconnect, address 6 hda-intel: IRQ timing workaround is activated for card #0. Suggest a bigger bdl_pos_adj. usb 5-1: new low speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 7 usb 5-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice input: Logitech USB Receiver as /class/input/input15
I have a 5 button mouse and the 4th and 5th buttons are useful for skipping back or forwards while surfing with Firefox. It would be nice if I could skip back in Nautilus too, but it doesn't work. (Alt+LeftArrow & Alt+RightArrow as keybord equivalent) Is there a possibility to use this buttons in Nautilus too?
i have a regular ole USB mouse and got a USB hub to expand the number of ports i have. I connected my USB mouse to the hub which worked in Windows but when i booted up linux the mouse did not work. If i plug the mouse in directly then it works again but i would like to figure out how to make the mouse work using a hub but am not quite sure where to start,
I have installed fedora ver 10 on my PC. The issue is that my mouse does not work once i login, it hardly works for 5-10 mins and then does not respond, however system does not get hung. I am using USB optical mouse. Please help me in fixing the issue.
I was in 2.6.38.-2-amd64 and it was upgraded to 2.6.39-2-amd64. After the upgrade, every reboot disables the bluetooth mouse. There is a message from the panel with a bluetooth icon Bluetooth Device Authorization request from Logitec mouse... check authorization
I push the buttons on my mouse and the button on the dongle to try and get them to pair, but, the dongle does not work. It is not scanning when I push the connect button.I unplug the usb dongle, and plug it in again, and this time I am able to pair them, and the mouse works. But, I have to do this every time I reboot which is a pain. I found that in the previous kernel, The Bloothtooh package is 4.91-1, but it has been upgrade to 4.91-2. So, this is creating the problem.
When I'm using Nautilus, I've found (for years) that I've had to hit Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V or Del multiple times until the commands would register. I noticed this occurs when the mouse is moving. I've looked under System > Preferences but can't find anything. Is there a key in gconf or something that I can disable?
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 I love it. The only problem is my built-in mouse doesn't work. My usb mouse works fine but not the built-in one. When i was installing Ubuntu i used the USB mouse, The only problem is my mum needs it for her computer.
When I start firefox the mouse seems captured by it.I can use the mouse inside the firefox screen (change tabs, use menu, select/paste) but not anywhere else. Even if a popup appears (site wants to register a cookie) then I can only use the keyboard to "ok" it. alt-tab to another window is not possible.Using the mouse in the gome-panel won't work.I can get the mouse pointer anywhere on the screen but mouse clicks don't seem to register. I've had this problem before on 10.04 and the only thing that worked then was to create a new useraccount (a lot of hassle).
edit: The window manager also won't react to the mouse so closing the firefox window is not possible using the windowmanager buttons(X - 0)It's also not limited to Firefox, after I closed firefox via it's menu and then started a gnome-terminal the mouse was caught in that. After closing the gnome-terminal and restarting firefox it degraded even further in that the mouse would'nt even work in the window itself anymore.Only a reboor would reset the problem.
When I start ubuntu I can't use my mouse and keyboard. It works in a second when the log in screen appears but then it freeze. It works in bios, grub and safe mode. I use mx518 and ace kl 400.
I installed a fresh copy of 11.04 which worked fine until you first login and then the left mouse button fails to work so I can't left click anything. The right ones is fine? this worked fine on 10 and for the 11.04 installer.
Im running debian lenny amd_64, but I have another machine here that also runs the 32 bit os, also have a friend who is trying to get this to work to o on ubuntu amd_64. Long story short wed like to play some quake 2, I tried to run it under wine with no success, and why run it with emulation(or the likes) when it was ported to linux. Anyway with some painstaking effort I have got it to run if I run it with the software X11 rendering it runs but the graphics are squished, and only take up the left half of the screen but the MOUSE DOES WORK just fine.
I am able to run it now in the other rendering glx, soft, but when I run it everything works graphics look great, but the MOUSE DOES NOT WORK at all. Ive seen some things saying that gpm maybe locking it and I need to shut it down, that being said I cant find out how to shut it down for debian or ubuntu or evidence that its even running in the processes of my system, I've tried killing the gnome manager but I still have the same problem.
I've also tried the icculus port, and the installers, but both seem to FUBAR quake 2, and were a pain in the ass to even compile. I've been able to get the id version running just fine with other than this hiccup.
Ive also heard I may need to chmod the mouse device file if so where is it?
How do I stop GPM on a debian/ubuntu system? If you know this is not the problem, what do I need to do to get the mouse to work? Wheres the mouse device file so I can Chmod it? If all else fails how do I get the gfx to not screw up when using softx?
I installed ubuntu 10.04 today after vista for dual boot. my internet is working fine (wired/wireless) in vista but in ubuntu only wired internet is working and wireless its not working... also when i try install ndiswrapper using sudo command (sudo apt-get install ndiswrapper-utils), i get an error message sudo: apt: command not find.I am using dell inspiron laptop and below is the output for the command
Got myself in a bit of a squeeze here. I was messing around with the Xorg install on my Fedora 12 system. I ended up reinstalling it. Now my mouse and keyboard work fine in single user mode / terminal. But if I try and boot to X they dont work at the login screen. HAL and udev are booting. Ive done a udevadm monitor test in single user mode and its seeing the devices connect and disconnect. Ive also tried both USB and PS2 devices. Same issue. Ive tried playing with xorg.conf and generating it with Xorg -configure :1 I dont know to use to fix it. After banging my head against the wall for 20+ hours I decided it was time to ask for help. m just Lynxing around the web at the moment =X
I have been trying to install Xubuntu 9.10 in an old desktop computer (Mobile AMD Duron, 213 Mb RAM) but the mouse doesn't work! Neither the Network connexion... When I boot with an USB (same OS) everything works fine... I can also boot with Puppy Linux (working in other partition) without any problem.
After booting up my pc, sometimes it loads, and then my mouse freezes and i am unable to do anything at all. keyboard doesnt work either. Causing me to do a restart. when starting my pc, i get the ubuntu splash screen and then it jumps to a black screen with: "desktop login" after i out in my log in it asks for the password, i put that in and get "Weclome to Ubuntu etc" (forgot all the words, but its some statement welcoming me to ubuntu. The i get "tim@tim-desktop: $" but this is all on a black screen. Only way to get past this is to reboot my pc. and then it loads properly.
I recently tried to upgrade my Dell Latitude C610 from 10.10 to 11.04, but it got kernel panic right in the middle. Now it at least boots, but the mouse doesn't work--only the keyboard does. How do I fix this enough to use the mouse, or how do I operate Gnome with a keyboard?
My screen is frequently freezing and even the keyboard or mouse doesn't work. I've been told to read the logs, But I don't know where thy are or what to look for?
I just installed ubuntu on PS3 and my wireless mouse will not work, I have 2 sets of keyboard mouse combos and both the mouses wont work on the ps3 but will on the desktop. Is there a way I can get my mouse to work?? I have a usb mouse that works but Its a pain to use and I cant sit right away from the tv.
Sorry for repeating the same old complaint but there doesn't seem to be a common fix: Wireless does not work on my Presario R3000 although SUSE 11.x lists the hardware in the Hardware Information list and the hardware is turned on. Network Manager doesn't display any wireless networks in SUSE while Win 7 can see 4 of them on the same machine. Ubuntu has no problem either
Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.
I installed opensuse 11.3 succesfully on my acer aspire 5670 (5672) laptop. Everything works except wireless connection. Looking for a solution is follewed the " My wireless doesn't work - a primer on what I should do next" guide on this forum. These are the results i become: (2) Determine what device you have.: 03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG [Golan] Network Connection (rev 02)
I (finally!) have Mythtv working under 10.04. I use the Haupaugge DVB-T card with its remote. Whilst setting up the kit this worked OK. When I unplugged the keyboard and mouse the system prior to installing it next to the TV appeared to have stopped responding to the remote. In fact it seems to be responding to a number of the remote keys but not the OK and Go keys which isn't enough to run Mythtv.
I don't think leaving a keyboard & mouse plugged in is going to be domestically acceptable.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to restore lirc functionality?
Everything worked fine in Kubuntu 10.04 (64-bit). On the upgrade to 10.10 (64-bit) it takes about a minute until I can move the mouse after startup and the integrated memory card reader doesn't work (but the green LED which used to only come on when there was a card in there is now always on). This has been discussed twice before: here (closed and solved by unplugging cardreader which I do not want to do) and here (unsolved but closed as maverick no longer in beta) dmesg (note the errer -110) follows. Let me know if I can/should include any other logs/info!

I have a Belkin Enhanced Wireless USB Network Adapter Model # F6D4050 v2. The drivers are for windows but the windows wireless drivers app doesnt work. I see a tutorial for a linksys that appears to have the same chipset, but I am not sure if any of the steps need to be modified, also my kernel is a bit different. Here is my kernel:
I downloaded the Fedora 11 KDE livecd, installed it, and after the reboot when I get to that "firstboot" screen, I can't move the mouse, the keyboard doesn't work, I have to hold down the power button to turn off the computer.
I tried to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.10.Every thing went normal until the grub screen wanted me to select which kernel. The wireless usb keyboard and mouse would not work.I found an old keyboard and mouse, they worked.the login screen popped up, I selected the user name and typed the password. After a moment the login screen pops back up.I can log into the recovery console.
Just installed kubuntu(maverick) on my laptop. Strangely enough the wireless doesn't seem to be working. I had no issues with a gnome version of maverick. Now I'm probably doing something wrong, since I'm very new to KDE. But there's a little icon for something called "Networking Interface". There are two checkboxes inside the panel. One's called "Enable Networking"(checked) and "Enable Wireless" which is disabled.
Other than that I can't really elaborate further. I doubt it's a driver issue, since as I already mentioned I had no problems using a gnome ubuntu.
