When I'm using Nautilus, I've found (for years) that I've had to hit Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V or Del multiple times until the commands would register. I noticed this occurs when the mouse is moving. I've looked under System > Preferences but can't find anything. Is there a key in gconf or something that I can disable?

I use skype, and several times when i have it open, more often when i am using it, the hole system stuck with no response. The mouse stop moving, the keyboard does not work, even control + alt + backspace does not work! The only available choice is to reboot the computer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter booting up my pc, sometimes it loads, and then my mouse freezes and i am unable to do anything at all. keyboard doesnt work either. Causing me to do a restart. when starting my pc, i get the ubuntu splash screen and then it jumps to a black screen with: "desktop login" after i out in my log in it asks for the password, i put that in and get "Weclome to Ubuntu etc" (forgot all the words, but its some statement welcoming me to ubuntu. The i get "tim@tim-desktop: $" but this is all on a black screen. Only way to get past this is to reboot my pc. and then it loads properly.

Now it at least boots, but the mouse doesn't work--only the keyboard does. How do I fix this enough to use the mouse, or how do I operate Gnome with a keyboard?
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot myself in a bit of a squeeze here. I was messing around with the Xorg install on my Fedora 12 system. I ended up reinstalling it. Now my mouse and keyboard work fine in single user mode / terminal. But if I try and boot to X they dont work at the login screen. HAL and udev are booting. Ive done a udevadm monitor test in single user mode and its seeing the devices connect and disconnect. Ive also tried both USB and PS2 devices. Same issue. Ive tried playing with xorg.conf and generating it with Xorg -configure :1 I dont know to use to fix it. After banging my head against the wall for 20+ hours I decided it was time to ask for help. m just Lynxing around the web at the moment =X
View 2 Replies View RelatedI (finally!) have Mythtv working under 10.04. I use the Haupaugge DVB-T card with its remote. Whilst setting up the kit this worked OK. When I unplugged the keyboard and mouse the system prior to installing it next to the TV appeared to have stopped responding to the remote. In fact it seems to be responding to a number of the remote keys but not the OK and Go keys which isn't enough to run Mythtv.
I don't think leaving a keyboard & mouse plugged in is going to be domestically acceptable.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to restore lirc functionality?
My screen is frequently freezing and even the keyboard or mouse doesn't work. I've been told to read the logs, But I don't know where thy are or what to look for?

View 11 Replies View Relatedi think the motherboard is cooked but not sure...be4 i call them up and say wtf i want to make sure i have not missed anything (i dont think i have* ok the MO is a MSI g31tm-p21 and the processor is a intel celeron e3300. when i powered it on lights on front panel came on *case has temp readings and fan controls* all of that powered on...the two case fans power on and the processor powers on cd drive powers on and HDD powers on as well so the power box is working there is not a problem with that. i recheck all cabling and its all right i had jumped the cmos a few times now. and with the cmos jumped the M/O would not even TRY to turn on so that was good. it would only turn on when jumped the right away the *keep data* setting took the batt out and waited to let the cmos clear that way. still nothing and i am still getting no post screen. keyboard dos not light up nor dos the mouse
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install slackware 32 bit 13.1.After loading kernel it asks for keyboard configuration, but keyboard (usb wireless) doesn't work.
Keyboard works on the old 13.0 installation, on bios and also in the boot options of 13.1 installation cd.
I've tried removing legacy usb support and changing usb2.0 speed from high to full. Nothing changed.
Anybody with this strange problem? (kernel of setup seems also to detect it correctly as a trust keyboard).
The keyboard and mouse won't work while live booting Ubuntu from CD on a Acer Verition M264. I've tried PS/2 and USB mice. This problem starts from when Ubuntu loads, keyboard and mouse is fine until that point. There's also a complaint message once it's loaded up: The panel encountered a problem while loading "OAFIID:GNOME_FastUserSwitchApplet".
On a Dell Inspiron and a Acer Aspire X3200, Ubuntu 9.10 works just fine.
I have a headless mythtv running 13, when there's no monitor connected X doesn't start. If I plug a monitor in it still doesn't do my any good as there's no kb/mouse either. I know the system has booted fine as I can connect to myth remotely. This a slackware or x problem? Want to run x11vnc here but without x I can't do that.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just installed CentOS-5.4 on an AMD64 box, dual boot with Windows 7 64, if that matters. At first I could not get the GUI to display at all, but fixed that using system-config-display. During installation, the keyboard (HP bluetooth set with mouse) worked fine in the GUI, but mouse did not. Now when it loads the GUI interface after booting, neither the keyboard or the mouse will work at all, therefore I can't navigate anywhere. I have done the yum update already as well, from init 3, but they still are not working. what I should do next, where to check?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used a live CD burned onto a DVD-RW and it booted up and worked great. So I installed it using the entire hard drive, Ran Update manager, enabled the driver for the wifi card. Before I was using 10.5 with all recent updates done. A few things don't work. It fails whenever I try to connect my Bluetooth mouse and keyboard, CD drive doesn't mount anything, I thought it would bring up the restricted nvidia driver but it doesn't so the video is slow and sketchy.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Logitech Wave keyboard and mouse for my computer. I am not sure which version of Ubuntu I am running on but I think it is 6.10. When I boot up my computer I can go into the BIOS and earlier today it would even let me press escape to seee which operating systems I could boot. Now it no longer lets me see the operating system I have (which is why I cant say which version of Ubuntu I have). It takes me to the log in page and asks for the username and password but I cant type and I cant move the mouse. Earlier I could also use Alt+F1-F12, but this is no longer working either so it just sits at the login page and nothing works at all. The computer that is having this problem is very old it is a Proteva and when I opened up the actual computer the processor says:

I know that the BIO's are to old for Ubuntu to run properly because at startup it also says that: "ACPI :

I have'nt used this computer for about a year or two, but the last time I used it it worked perfectly fine. I have been seeing questions on the forums similar to mine, but their problems are on other versions of Ubuntu and their mouse's are said to work fine. I cant try any of the solutions for the problems I have read about because I cant open the prompt that you get when you are at the log in screen and press F2. I have no idea what to do.
I tried to upgrade from 10.4 to 10.10.Every thing went normal until the grub screen wanted me to select which kernel.The wireless usb keyboard and mouse would not work.I found an old keyboard and mouse, they worked.the login screen popped up, I selected the user name and typed the password.After a moment the login screen pops back up.I can log into the recovery console.

Works fine but after switching between each machine once, the keyboard/mouse does not work. Tried unplugging the device(s) and the KVM itself from each machine but no luck.Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to use the KVM (right now I have to use VNC to get a similar effect).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a ubuntu loaded in KDE and this is in dual boot with Windows vista. I was "upgrading" my Linux (through update manager) when my computer just shut down. And when i restarted the computer to login to the Linux all I got was blank screen. I logged into recovery mode and selected the option to fix the packages. I rebooted my system and then again logged into the Linux. This time I could get the login screen but my mouse as well as Keyboard was not recognized. Essentially i cannot type or scroll and cannot login into Linux.

View 3 Replies View Relatedrecently i tried to install for the first time and everything booted up fine but when i got to the post install configuration my mouse and keyboard don't work! after that one time whenever i try to load linux it just sits at the boot screen where the colored bar goes left to right and has fedora text in the bottom right corner. i don't know if this matters or not but i'm dual booting with windows XP also i tried using a live cd of fedora 11 it always boots up to the login however just like above i can't use my mouse or keyboard for that one either.
View 8 Replies View RelatedBiggest one that make game unplayable is mouse. Mouse isn't moving smooth it jumps around. I cannot shoot anything. So i asked for help, and everybody just say install windows. And where is fun in that. If people when ever run into problem with some software on linux just install windows. Linux would never go forward. I m not some great gamer, but i would like to be able to play this game. Probably somebody run into same problem. I sow that people talk about something like dis on WOW and wine but simptoms doesn't seem same to me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows crapped out on me (not surprisingly) and I am using Ubuntu to transfer all of my files to an external hard drive. However, when the computer loads the Ubuntu disk I get to a language selection menu, but my keyboard doesn't work. It won't let me make any sort of selection, and the 30 second timer eventually times out and my system just restarts and the process starts all over again.
I've tried plugging my keyboard in to all of the different USB ports on my computer, but still nothing. The strange thing is that the keyboard works just fine when I changed the BIOS settings to boot from the cd-rom... it just doesn't work when Ubuntu is ready to run..
I created a bunch of keyboard shortcuts via "System > Preferences Keyboard Shortcuts," and they all work flawlessly except one: Nautilus. I just set it to run the command "nautilus" and it doesn't do anything. My GNOME panel launcher runs the same command just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I start firefox the mouse seems captured by it.I can use the mouse inside the firefox screen (change tabs, use menu, select/paste) but not anywhere else. Even if a popup appears (site wants to register a cookie) then I can only use the keyboard to "ok" it. alt-tab to another window is not possible.Using the mouse in the gome-panel won't work.I can get the mouse pointer anywhere on the screen but mouse clicks don't seem to register. I've had this problem before on 10.04 and the only thing that worked then was to create a new useraccount (a lot of hassle).
edit: The window manager also won't react to the mouse so closing the firefox window is not possible using the windowmanager buttons(X - 0)It's also not limited to Firefox,after I closed firefox via it's menu and then started a gnome-terminal the mouse was caught in that. After closing the gnome-terminal and restarting firefox it degraded even further in that the mouse would'nt even work in the window itself anymore.Only a reboor would reset the problem.
I installed a fresh copy of 11.04 which worked fine until you first login and then the left mouse button fails to work so I can't left click anything. The right ones is fine? this worked fine on 10 and for the 11.04 installer.

Now my keyboard is locked, and the onboard doesn't work too... all I did was to click on some of the settings of the onboard.Sadly the onboard didn't show me the french keyboard, so that's a downer too.
