I'm trying to use a monitor on the HDMI port of my Asus laptop which has Intel integrated graphics.
It doesn't detect the monitor using the display utility.
Under Fedora 12, I have installed the proprietary NVIDIA graphics driver successfully and am now attempting to use the onboard HDMI output. (The board has HDMI and VGA out built in.) I am getting a clear picture on the TV screen, although the edge of the screen output hangs off all edges of the physical screen. The HDMI audio output is being detected, but no sound come out of the TV when I switch the sound output from the Analog Sterio Duplex to HDMI Output in the Sound Preferences. Any suggestions, and what further information is required?

I realise this is an issue that has been covered a lot, one way or another, but at least from what I've been able to find, most of the discussion centres around getting HDMI audio to work. However, I have problems even getting the video to work from my laptop's HDMI output.
I have an HP dv6z-se, with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550 (1 Gb) video card and using F14/KDE. My problem is that when I go to System Settings/Display/Monitor, Fedora doesn't actually seem to realise my computer even has an HDMI output and only displays options for VGA and my integrated screen.
When I plug it into my LCD screen, sometimes I get a 'No Signal' message and sometimes I get garbled static and a message about unrecognised input and the frequency it's coming at.
I read elsewhere in the forum that someone was able to get video working by editing their xorg.conf file, so I went in and tried to see if I could replicate that, but none of the files in my xorg.conf.d folder had anything related to video outputs (as far as I can tell at this point).

On my Ubuntu (10.04) system, the Ativa SMP-6AS webcam has worked out of the box. On a minimalistic (no gui) Debian Lenny system, it only creates devices for audio (/dev/audio1, /dev/dsp1, /dev/mixer1), but no corresponding /dev/video0 (like it does on Ubuntu). How do I find out what driver it's using on the Ubuntu system so I can install it on the Debian?

Im having problem with my wireless card that includes Bluetooth as well. I Googled and found that its partially supported by b43 (guess its a driver that comes with kernel). I installed Broadcom STA and it seems that my wireless is working but still not sure about that.I want to check if the wireless is really working and I want my Bluetooth to work as well but couldn't find a driver for that.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have connected a PC running Ubuntu 10.10 to an LG TV through HDMI. I get an image, but the borders are out of the screen. At the screen dialogue of Ubuntu, the monitor isn't listed correctly. Ubuntu recognise the monitor as Goldstar Company Ltd. 52" whereas it is LG 47". I suppose it produces an image for 52", and for this reason I cannot see the borders. I have not a video card. The job is done by the i3 cpu, so I suppose it is not a problem of the card.
How can I solve it? LG doesn't provide a driver for Linux. Is there any other site where I can find the proper driver? Or is there anything else I can do to fix this? It is vital for me, as I cannot work at all with this setup.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have tried both the i386 (worked) and x86 64 dvd iso installations. Both sha1sum results don't match. I got a torrent copy and it's sha1sum doesn't match either.
The problem is with the x86 64 iso dvd. It boots but takes a long time(2-3 minutes)to load ata_piix driver when the title bar says Loading SCSI driver. After it finishes loading that driver, when prompted for the installation method, if I select CD/DVD, I'm prompted to select a driver or install disk for driver. I've tried several different generic ata drivers from the list and end up with a strange memory map interwoven with a multi color(red, white and blue)
