Jul 10, 2011I'm trying to find out when QME2572 (Qlogic) card became support by the kernel. We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

Sep 21, 2010First of all, I have not tried to install anything yet, just doing some research. I recently bought a HP notebook with the intention of installing Linux (I was thinking Ubuntu?) on it, and in my ignorance I assumed that driver support for Linux wouldn't be a problem. Alas, I have some difficulties finding out how to proceed with the installation.
The laptop I bought is a HP Pavilion dm1-2020eo, however it seems it is a region specific model, as I couldn't find it on HP's UK/US sites. Here is a link to the Norwegian description; I am sure you can figure out what the specifications are (don't know if they are relevant at all, though, heh).I couldn't find the model in this list, Windows drivers can be found here. I realise this whole post is a mess, however I hope someone is able point me in the right direction. (On a side note, does anyone know a good guide for building a boot disc/USB stick so I can customize the distro with drivers, partition tools etc?)

Hardware :: No Sound Through Inboard HDMI On Fedora 12 With Proprietary NVIDIA Video Driver
Aug 5, 2010Under Fedora 12, I have installed the proprietary NVIDIA graphics driver successfully and am now attempting to use the onboard HDMI output. (The board has HDMI and VGA out built in.) I am getting a clear picture on the TV screen, although the edge of the screen output hangs off all edges of the physical screen. The HDMI audio output is being detected, but no sound come out of the TV when I switch the sound output from the Analog Sterio Duplex to HDMI Output in the Sound Preferences. Any suggestions, and what further information is required?

Jan 9, 2011I have an AMD Radeon HD 6950 and I know that no driver will be released for a while that works (current one causes xorg to crash and creates a reboot loop). Until then I have a 1920x1080 monitor running at 1280x1024 bc there are no higher settings.Is there any way to increase the resolution until the driver support comes? May 17, 2010I am fairly new to Linux and have been striking hassles with my AWUS036H (RTL8187) under Debian Lenny. The standard (built in) driver works but reception is pathetic compared to the same card under Backtrack 4 or even Windows 7. I have tried to build drivers which I got from the Alfa website, the Realtek website and also the Linux Wireless project page. All of them fail during Make with an Error 2. I don't have the error in front of me (had to go back to Windows for the moment) but it is identical to the one this guy gets:

Fedora :: HDMI Video Output On F14 - HDMI Does Not Appear As Option
Feb 8, 2011I realise this is an issue that has been covered a lot, one way or another, but at least from what I've been able to find, most of the discussion centres around getting HDMI audio to work. However, I have problems even getting the video to work from my laptop's HDMI output.
I have an HP dv6z-se, with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6550 (1 Gb) video card and using F14/KDE. My problem is that when I go to System Settings/Display/Monitor, Fedora doesn't actually seem to realise my computer even has an HDMI output and only displays options for VGA and my integrated screen.
When I plug it into my LCD screen, sometimes I get a 'No Signal' message and sometimes I get garbled static and a message about unrecognised input and the frequency it's coming at.
I read elsewhere in the forum that someone was able to get video working by editing their xorg.conf file, so I went in and tried to see if I could replicate that, but none of the files in my xorg.conf.d folder had anything related to video outputs (as far as I can tell at this point).
