Jul 13, 2011Trying to load ubuntu 11.04 and error message comes up cannot find autorun program. how do i get the program on my computer so i can download the upgraded version of ubuntu I have tried rebooting and many many other things. it loaded just fine on my desktop right over my pc linux os.

Jul 23, 2011Currently have debian i386 on a CD. go to reboot my laptop with the CD still in the drive- nothing. So i did some playing around and I found this when trying to manually run the CD through archive manager I think on ubuntu: Autorun script not found? I would assume this is why debian will not boot up after restart. how can I fix this?

For the most part is has worked w/o incident i.e. until recently when the UPS battery failed on my APC backups xs 1500 lcd. I could not view the multimon.cgi file via the localhost or 127.0.0.1 url e.g.: [URL]... I'd get 404 page not found message. After checking links here and on the web, I tried: [URL]... The page is displayed. From this discovery, I'm not sure that this is a web server configuration or a network host configuration issue or what. I'm running Lucid with all updates, no mods to lighttpd except I added the mod_fastcgi line to the lighttpd.conf file

May 24, 2015I have just installed Debian 8 with Gnome desktop and trying to add my username to sudoers list.
When I open terminal and enter visudo I get the following error message...

Although I am quite new to debian, I have done this successfully in the past so not sure why this is happening?

I just switched to debian from ubuntu in search of something different and I want to find a system that works for me before I settle down.
I DO NOT HAVE A SECONDARY OS
just two problems I have with debian:
No sound
Error message: No volume control GStreamer plugins and/or devices found.
When I try to open sound from the speaker icon at top right.
I think it's a driver issue but Its not as easy as ubuntu was lspci:
My trackpad also does not work so I have to open documents manually if I don't bring my mouse to class.

Sep 30, 2010I need to use a pendrive with the Slackware 13.0 and I've tried a lot of things I've found at the internet but unfortunately they didn't work. It's not possible to use graphical interface because some reasons. So the problem need to be solved by command line.
When I use "lsusb" command, I can see the pendrive.
However, when I try these:
I got the following message: "Module usb-ohci not found" and "Module usbcore not found"
How can I deal with these problem? Because I guess without these module loaded it's not possible to mount the pendrive. Is it right?

I was able to build the binaries, but when I try to execute it, this error message comes up. I don't know which file libguile is missing. It was installed from the official rpm repository cdrom.

Apr 1, 2011I just installed Ubuntu on my brand new system that I built. I put in my cd for my HD 5770 video card, and an icon shows up on my screen XFX_VGA_V9.8C text under it.
However when I try to access it in anyway, I try to open with autorun prompt, I get a message "This medium contains software intended to be automatically started. would you like to run it?"
I click on run and get "Error autorunning software, cannot find the autorun program."
Is there anyway that I can run this disk. It's important for setup. I cant copy the disk to the desktop, I get errors.

General :: Broken Dual Boot - Xp / Ub - Error: Error File Not Found - Grub Rescue
May 21, 2011Ubuntu 9.10 was set up to handle the booting selection - previously I thought it was xp but Ubuntu 9.10 "did" it. The system started out as a xp / ubuntu 9.10 dual boot on a 400gb drive. xp has 210gb, ub has 80 and their is a 100gb shared storage. Xp was installed first and then I followed a guide over at linuxconfig.org to get ub installed so that I could select which OS was wanted at boot. Ubuntu manages the boot up menu (Went back to look at my notes from the original setup) The owner tried to update to ub 11.04 and afterall was said and done the machine now boots to the message
error file not found grub rescue I can't say if 11.04 was properly installed or not. Ask whatever you like and I'll give the best answer I can. I think the xp install is okay but I can't say for certain as I don't know how to boot it outside the bootmanager at startup. Data has been saved so if I have to blow it all away and start over I can but I'm hoping I won't have to.
