I'm running Archlinux. I used pacman(update/package manager) to download video drivers for my card, which was xf86-video-cirrus. Everything went well. Now I want to load the module/drivers.
lsmod returns list of loaded modules but the graphics isn't one of them.
How can I load the drivers that I downloaded?
I downloaded a few themes from kde-look.org, but now I have no idea how to load them under styles. How can one load a downloaded theme under styles?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm having another go at ubuntu!I have Ubuntu 10.10 running (a fresh install).I went to the nvidia site and downloaded the linux drivers for it, (it's a .run file).So I try runnig it via the terminal, it goes great untill it mentions that I need to exit the X Window system?
So I tried pressing ctrl+alt+f2 (switches to a root terminal?) and tried runnig it from there but no luck either

I am using a HP Mini 1010nr with broadcom bcm4312 wireless card. I went online and downloaded the drivers onto a USB drive from the broadcom website. All I need to know is what are the commands or the programs I use to install the 32 bit drivers I downloaded?? Sorry I know the answer is in here somewhere but I don't understand what the command is on how to install my drivers from my thumb drive.

View 1 Replies View Relatedafter the netinst finished to download the last package, one hour later the process never continues, I checked the log file and I didn't find anything suspecious, also dmesg and nothing, in fact, in the log file before checked I found that the last line was registered just a minute ago - DHCP renew IP-, so my questions are:
1. all the packages downloaded are gone?, can I restart the installation using all those packages downloaded?
2. where I can find the error or problem that cause that the installation was freezed?
3. in the case that installation needs to start from the beginning, can I use the package downloaded?

How to load the driver for this SAS+SATA controller during install, I tried loading the supplied 5.0.5 driver from LSI but it appears that the options in the provided list do not provide actual support for the 5.0.7 release. Anyone having luck with the 9280 controller. I checked kernel.org and saw that supports is getting added for the upstream release of the kernel but wonder if anyone was able to workout a patch for the present Debian kernel in order to install the driver as the OS loads.

I noticed when I attempted to load Wheezy on her, she complained about the drivers not be listed in the Debian kernel. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently received a used laptop that I was going to use for my kids, a Compaq Presario 2100. Everything went fine on the install, however I could not get the WiFi to work. The internal card, a Broadcom BCM4306, was attempting to use the b43legacy drivers, which I understand to be the native driver for this card, but would get all sorts of strange errors in 'dmesg', and would never get a solid connection.
After fiddling with this for 2 days, and reading countless troubleshooting guides, I finally gave up and decided to get it working with ndiswrapper. Everything worked perfect, except I can only get it to work if I first load b43legacy, then load ndiswrapper, then unload b43legacy. If I blacklist b43legacy, and just load ndiswrapper, iwconfig does not report a wlan0.
I ran across this posting, and decided to try this, but it also did not work. Plus, with this file in place, any attempt to use modprobe would complain about every line of that file.
Laptop with Nvidia integrated GO 6100. Now stuck in low graphics mode.
Uninstall/reinstall ENVY. No joy.
"Hardware Drivers" reports that Nvidia drivers version 173 are activated at the moment, but not in use. Got the same report from the 185s. 'nvidia-xconfig' produced no results.
Not sure where to go from here. Please assist.
On a positive note, my onboard Broadcom wireless is working without ndiswrapper.
I have tried to install tp link tf3200 network adapter without success . the os is 8.04 hardy loading drivers is new to me. the driver is sundance (i think) and the output from the make command is shown below.

I got an HP mini 1120NR as a gift and it runs Linux software.
