Ubuntu Networking :: Hp 210 Mini 3g Internal Modem Not Detected?

Apr 19, 2011

I've just installed ubuntu on my father's netbook hp 210 mini 3g with internal 3g modem. At the beginning everything was fine - system automatically detected modem and asked for PIN code. I was very surprised but during download some updates connection broke.. and since then ubuntu doesn't detect modem. I have even reinstalled system

In the broadband connection wizard there is no device detected. I'm on ubuntu 11.04, but on the 10.10 was the same problem.

Fedora Networking :: Dial Up Modem Not Working

Aug 6, 2009

I have a creative modem blaster V.92 which I know works because I have used it on windows and ubuntu how ever I am having some problems with F11 it sounds like its dialing okay and the box pops up that says please wait when I try to connect via the network manager thing but thats all it does the box never goes away and I've looked at the modem lights thing I added to my panel and it says its not sending or receiving anything and firefox doesnt work so I am not sure what I am doing wrong here.

I got an error with the default settings so I switched the device to ttys0 and set the baudrate according to what wvdialconf said was okay which also wont connect for some reason it hangs too.. I am confused here. Has anyone successfully set up a dial up connection in fedora 11

My F12 installation is augmented with the following rpms - kudzu-1.2.86.2.i686, libwvstreams-4.6-5.fc12.i686 and wvdial-1.60.10.fc12.i686 (and the rpm for USR-5610B modem)

Network Configuration GUI shows ppp0 (Modem) in the Common Active Profile

However, ppp0 does NOT show up in the Network Device Control GUI, AND ACTIVATE and DEACTIVATE buttons are GREYED-OUT.

Fedora Hardware :: Get Internal Modem Lenovo T61 FC14 X86_64

Apr 16, 2011

I am keen to get the internal modem working on my notebook, so I can set up faxing and dial-up internet access.

I have failed to get it working by using the Linuxant alsa-driver-linuxant and hsfmodem packages, but that may be because I am doing something wrong.

alsamixer on my system tells me I have CARD: HDA Intel and CHIP: Analog Devices AD1984.

I have these devices in /dev, which appear to be candidates for modem operation:

Code:

CentOS 5 :: Modem AT Commands To Internal Modem?

May 20, 2010

I have a Centos 5.4 server running kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5PAE. It has an internal modem, and I need to be able to issue AT commands from a script to the modem. I need to simply dial a number and hang up. The relevant piece of my script is:

[Code]...

With an external modem, this works no problem. With an INTERNAL modem, the call never goes out. I fired up minicom to make sure the modem was working correctly, and if I issue those AT commands from within minicom, everything works great.

While minicom was running, I noticed a peculiar fact: WHILE minicom is running, the script works from the command line, and I can see all the AT commands and OK's in minicom, (minicom acts as a monitor). When I exit minicom, the script stops working. It appears minicom is creating a bridge between the com port and the modem itself. So, what is minicom doing that I'm unaware of?

The server's sole function is to run asterisk as a voicemail server (avaya wanted well into 6 figure territory to implement this....). This script is to dial an avaya FAC to turn the voicemail message lights on and off on the end users' phones.

Ubuntu Networking :: 10.04 - Gobi Loader Fails On 10.04 RC - Worked On 9.10?

Apr 26, 2010

[10.04]-Gobi Loader Fails on 10.04 RC, Worked on 9.10? I was using a program called "Gobi Loader" to manually setup my Qualcomm 9212 3g internal USB modem on my Verizon Wireless Gateway LT2016U NetBook. Gobi Loader program loads the modem's firmware so it is usable by Ubuntu OS. This worked fine on Ubuntu 9.10, but on Ubuntu 10.04 RC when I run Gobi Loader it just hangs. I've Googled for hours and have not found a solution to this issue. For me it is a big issue as in Ubuntu 10.04, my 3g access is not working. (I'm paying Verizon Wireless $60 dollars a month for 3g access my Ubuntu 10.04 can't use.)

The only option I see now is to install Windows(R) XP, then reinstall Ubuntu 10.04 and dual boot. I would have to boot into Windows(R) XP first, the soft reset and boot into Ubuntu 10.04. (but this is not something I wish to do) This Qualcomm 9212 3g internal USB modem is quite popular in NetBooks, and I can't be the only person in the universe who is using Ubuntu 10.04 on it so there must be some way to make this 3g modem work on Ubuntu 10.04?

Fedora Networking :: BT Home Hub - FC13 No Connection

From FC13, wired, I've set up DHCP and ifconfig shows the IP as in range (192.168.1.64)

Ping fails when I try to ping the router? No access from FF either.

I'm stuck thinking of what could be blocking it?

Firewall has http https as trusted services.

Not sure about trusted interfaces and masquerading? Should my eth0 be enabled for either of these?

Fedora Hardware :: Internal Mic Not Working In 15?

May 28, 2011

The internal microphone of my laptop Thinkpad T400 does not work after the new installation of fedora 15. I was trying to use it in SKYPE and could not get any sound recorded at all. However, when I tried arecord, sound is recorded, but is extremely low and not clear with lots of noise. The sound control seems to be different from before. Now available settings are

Code:

None
Analog Stereo Input
Digital Stereo Duplex (IEC958)

[code]....

And the 'Input' page seems not bad because I can drag the Input volume. However, the 'Input level' is empty, or only 1 bar even I drag the 'Input volume' to maximum.Analog Stereo Output and Analog Stereo Duplex (the one I am using) are the two give me output sound. But none seem to work with my internal mic. I haven't tried an external mic, though, because I do not have one. There seems to be no more "advanced volume control" that I used in Fedora 12. Also, there seems to be no more ALSA devices or PulseAlsa devices?

'#arecord -l' list my device as

Code:

Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog].

how to solve this. For example, is there a way to get those ALSA settings back (well, I do not really understand what ALSA is and how it works but it did work when I had Fedora 12)? I do have a lot of packages named 'alsa*' installed.

Ubuntu Networking :: Get UH-235 WiMAX USB Modem Working?

Apr 16, 2011

Imagine this scenario at my home: I'm working on my laptop using WLAN receiver as I have a router installed at my home. Suddenly the electricity fails (it's a regular incident here in Bangladesh called Load-shedding) and the power source to modem and router dies.As a result, my internet connection drops. To connect to the internet without power, I use this QUBEE UH-235 WiMAX USB Modem. Now I know QUBEE may not be there in your country. But after a bit of research I figured that this UH-235 modem is commont every country. QUBEE just branded its logo on the device and the software within. This one is not my device, mine is here.

In my windows, the software is installed as soon as I plug in the USB. That software then detects the modem, scans for network, and then connects to the internet. No extra CD is required for this. However, on an Ubuntu machine, I can't get it working. I guess there are ways to get this UH-235 modem working on my Ubuntu machine. This is keeping me from using Ubuntu as you know I'll have to restart and log in to WIndows whenever electricity is off as Ubuntu works with Wi-Fi, not this UH-235 modem when the Wi-Fi is out of power
