Ubuntu Networking :: Hp 210 Mini 3g Internal Modem Not Detected?

I've just installed ubuntu on my father's netbook hp 210 mini 3g with internal 3g modem. At the beginning everything was fine - system automatically detected modem and asked for PIN code. I was very surprised but during download some updates connection broke.. and since then ubuntu doesn't detect modem. I have even reinstalled system
In the broadband connection wizard there is no device detected. I'm on ubuntu 11.04, but on the 10.10 was the same problem.
I have a compaq mini 110-1000 with integrated 3g modem and natty narwhal. I bought a vodafone data sim card, I've configured the network manager but it doesn't work! All solution I found are possible only with the hp connection manager. but I've removed windows!!

I have installed trixbox 2.8.0.3 in Intel MAC mini PC, installation completed successfully. After reboot network card was not detected.
My MAC mini PC comes with nVidia Corporation MCP79 Ethernet card. how to enable Ethernet card with out affecting the tribox. trixbox-2.8.0.3 version comes with Cent OS 5.4. [Moderator edit: s/deducted/detected/]
I use ubuntu 9.10 and PCI connected Conexant CX11252 Modem. My GNOME PPP doesn't detects my modem. How can I create a connection? Is there any way to detect my modem and connect ? or ubuntu is fit only for broadband? I think most of the activities in ubuntu depends on internet. I can't do any work. I am losing my money in Internet Cafe. Broadband is even not available in my resident area. Therefore. find a solution to connect internet via my dial up modem!
My D-link DWM-152 HSDPA USB modem is not in the USB_modeswitch supported hardware list and ubuntu was recognized it as USB storage. Any idea how can i switch it to modem mode? I'm using ubuntu lucid.

At Saturday, 23rd October 2010 I bought a USB CDMA Modem named AX manufactured by Alltronix and has series labeled ACM-001. The chipset is Qualcom. It didn't work on My Karmic Koala nor Lucid Lynx. I try to check some condition by writing some command in shell prompt like: tail -f /var/log/messages, lsusb, and modprobe. Here is the results.

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 and a Huawei USB modem to connect to internet. Most of the time when I start computer it is not detected my system. Then I use to reboot and then it gets detected automatically. That means its drivers are now loaded. But I don't know why drivers are not loaded when I start first time.
I have a Centos 5.4 server running kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5PAE. It has an internal modem, and I need to be able to issue AT commands from a script to the modem. I need to simply dial a number and hang up. The relevant piece of my script is:

With an external modem, this works no problem. With an INTERNAL modem, the call never goes out. I fired up minicom to make sure the modem was working correctly, and if I issue those AT commands from within minicom, everything works great.
While minicom was running, I noticed a peculiar fact: WHILE minicom is running, the script works from the command line, and I can see all the AT commands and OK's in minicom, (minicom acts as a monitor). When I exit minicom, the script stops working. It appears minicom is creating a bridge between the com port and the modem itself. So, what is minicom doing that I'm unaware of?
The server's sole function is to run asterisk as a voicemail server (avaya wanted well into 6 figure territory to implement this....). This script is to dial an avaya FAC to turn the voicemail message lights on and off on the end users' phones.
I have a ZTE HSUPA USB Modem Model:MF636 which used to work great and then is not longer detected.
I am using Fedora 12 and was having problems with the modem not been properly detected and filed a bug, which turned not to be a problem of NetworkManager, but an issue with udev. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=603433
I followed instructions to edit /lib/udev/rules.d/61-option-modem-modeswitch.rules and then it worked fine.
Now the modem is again not properly detected. Here is a copy of the results from dmesg code...
I have tried restoring the file that I edited. It was back to the stated previusly reported. I also have tried to run an older kernel. Then I updated to the latest kernel available for Fedora 12. Nothing seems to work.
I've just installed Zentyal (formally eBox) which is a firewall built on Ubuntu server 10.04. Unfortunately my PCI modem is not automatically detected upon installation and the Zentyal community forum is not very active.Is it possible to get the 4-port Solos Multiport PCI ADSL2+ Modem card from Traverse Technologies working under Zentyal?Apparently the driver is included in kernel versions 2.6.29 and later so I was surprised that it was not automatically detected and working upon installation. It is also available from Zentyal was able to detect their single port card, the Vicking PCIADSL2+ttp://www.traverse.com.au/productvi...product_id=115). This card worked out-the-box - all I had to do was enter my static IP details! Is there any way to achieve the same functionality with the Solos 4 port?
I've got a final revision of the G4 Mac mini, the 1.5GHz model, dual booting 10.04 LTS and OS X. One of the issues I've had is that the internal speaker doesn't work under Linux, or so it's been reported on various post and sites. It turns out it's a simple matter of flipping some ALSA control options. With an ALSA mixer you must enable both the Speaker and the Headphone to get audio to play over the internal speaker. It will still play over the external headphones/speakers if they are still plugged in. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the ALSA, OSS, PCM or snd_powermac drivers or just something setup wonky in the configs. I've used both GNOME ALSA Mixer GUI and the alsamixer command line tool to do this. The alsamixer tool will mostly work in an X-term, as the F-keys don't pass though. It is fully functional on a console login. I also noticed that audio plays back per-user. When I switch from X to a console he sound is cut off, and when I get logged in as the same user the audio comes right back in.
I am installing Ubuntu 10.04 on my new Mac Mini. It has 2 500GB hard-drives, and I have created a partition for Ubuntu. During installation, however, Ubuntu is not able to detect my disk drive, neither my network interface. So I am not able to 'Partition Disks' which is part of Ubuntu installation. Did any of you encounter this problem? Any solutions or workarounds? Should I setup my disks in anyway before installation or use boot args?
Trying a minimal install with the mini.iso. I don't have a wired internet connection, only wireless from my iPhone which works fine with my full install of Ubuntu. The installer is not able to find my wireless connection stating "No Network Interfaces Detected". I did try to install yesterday in town with a friends wired internet connection and I got the same result. I'm able to get to the command line in the installer but have no idea how to start my wireless connection so the install can continue. I have searched here, and elsewhere on the net to the point of giving up.

I recently upgraded my HDD to 160 GB ..I actually wanted to exchange the old HDD (40GB) and adjust with the price of the new one..The comp service guy said that the internal HDD could be used as a USB disk if I purchase a CASE for this..I bought a case thro which I attached the old IDE HDD... The LED is on when I connect (The USB cable had 2 leads which I had to connect it in 2 USB slots- Direct in my cabinet (not thru Hub),,, Ubuntu 10.04 is recognizing the disk in "System Info" as "USB - Generic HDD"...But that's it, I am not able to run Gparted or anything...Even in win7 , it said "Installing software for devices" and later on nothing happens...This is not shown in File Manager I would like to know how to format and make it usable..
Also , since HDDs involve some amount of power , is it wise to connect it to another computer, I mean there wont be an overload or spike or something like that?? We have 220 Volt electricity in my country... Aso logically speaking there has to be a limit I mean, you cant keep "chain loading" multiple HDD through USB Hubs ,right!!

Rhythmbox plays some music (not all of it) and it sounds crappy. And when I start Amarok I get this: KDE detected that one or more internal sound devices were removed. Do you want KDE to permanently forget about these devices? I have a conexant D480 MDC modem on my Dell Latitude | D800 but I am unable to Instll it,I have also tried using Gnome PPP,And it also says that no modems were detected on your system , Following are the error codes it generated Quote:

I've been trying out the netbook remix of 10.04 but I've been having some issues getting my Huawei modem to work. It detects the install cd and usb storage but it does not discover the modem.

I just started messing around with openSUSE 11.3 (64-bit version, KDE environment).
My desktop computer has an internal fax/modem card (PCI version, mod. USR5610C). I am very confident that this card works with Linux and U.S. Robotics guarantees that much on their web site.
I connect to the Internet via DSL but I am attempting to set up the internal analog modem card as a back up should the DSL line be temporarily down. I went to YaST -> Modem and I see that my card was detected as "U.S. ROBOTICS 56K FAX INT Modem Not configured". I pressed Edit and the Modem Parameters page says that the device is in "/dev/ttyS4". I am not sure that this is indeed where the modem is located (is there a way to make sure?) but I accepted it and proceeded to entering the name of my Internet service provider, the access phone number, user name, and password. So far, so good -- I think!
Eventually, I come to a window where YaST2 wants to install the following: * jack Jack-Audio Connection Kit v. 1.9.5-2.8 * smpppd SuSE Meta PPP Daemon v. 1.60.46-1.1.1
So far I have not installed them because of the Jack-Audio Connection Kit software. Do I really need to install it in order to get the modem working? The reason I am being careful is that I just spent weeks and weeks in trying to get my audio card (ASUS Xonar DX 7.1, PCI-E) to work with openSUSE and I sure do not want to mess things up and start all over again!
I've got a problem with my 3G modem [Huawei E122]. It has internal storage and kernel assigns a device [/dev/sdX] to it. Because of that, every second time my machine will not boot - kernel panic - as my usb hdd gets assigned /dev/sdb instead of /dev/sda. I cannot use LABEL nor UUID in root= kernel parameter, as it is only available when using initrd, and I can't use it - I am using Debian on my router - mips architecture machine. I have to prevent this from happening, as my router has to start everyday and I have to be sure it works ok. I don't have physical access to restart it when something goes wrong. I don't use my modem internal storage, there's no SD card inserted. However kernel detects the reader and loads it. I can not prevent loading od usb drivers since my hdd is on USB as well.
I am currently running slackware 13.37 in virtualbox on my Dell 1558. I would really like to install it for real to my HDD to get the speed benefit. My only way to connect to the internet is via my internal Dell UMTS modem. Will this work after the install or do I need to take some precautions before the time and download the right apps files now while I have access?
I am new to linux.I installed fedora 12. i have setup wvdial to connect to the internet.but the problem is my usb modem's speed is being detected too low. It is zte cdma usb modem. In windows the baud rate was detected 230400. but wvdial detects the baud rate only 9600. the download speed is slower and web pages also load slowly.How can i correct this problem so that my modem works at full potential.
