I can play mp3, ..... etc. fine on gnome. However on kde, they always play at 3x or 4x speed. In fact, they just run through, not producing any sound. I can see the video zipping past on ...... Is there a setting for this on kde, that needs to be fixed?

View 8 Replies View RelatedAfter working properly for over a year my videos started playing in fast forward. This can be on the internet (as in wwww.wimp.com) or my video clips located on my hard drive.
Also, on a different note my volume control stopped working. My keyboard has a volume control wheel that I used to use to control the volume of music and videos. First it gave out on my side and continued to work on my wife's side and now it doesn't work on ether. (the volume level bar pops up on the screen but doesn't affect the output) (The volume can still be controlled with the mouse though by clicking on the volume bar on whatever web page I am looking at.)
This is possibly the so-manieth sound issue, but I couldn't find a solution just yet. I run F11 64bit, and have installed all codecs with Autoten. Now I run into the problem that at random intervals, music I play suddenly starts fast-forwarding (so playing at 5 times the speed). It starts fine, and then suddenly, after a couple of minutes, it goes weird. I haven't discovered any other symptoms yet.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just(4 hours ago at this writing) installed 10.04 LTS LL on my Toshiba Satellite. I transfered a few albums from my external HDD, to my laptop, and opened Rhythmbox. First, as usual with a new install, I had to dl Gstreamer, and some other plugins, to allow the program to properly play mp3's. This was done with no problems, of any kind, but I then found that, once a song began to play, I was unable to skip ahead in the track.

Problem is I can't forward/search in audio files I am playing. I mean I can only Play, Pause, Stop or "Next-track" a music file. Video files are fine.
I've tried Exaile, Rythmbox and even Totem. It is like the audio files are "half read-only".
If I drag a horizontal scroller in the music player and let it go, it will only jump back to the position where it is actually playing.
Has anyone experienced, this? I am a missing something in gstreamer or something like it?
I am "fleshing out" my USB flash drive Netbook Remix of Ubuntu and have run into a snag on getting Mplayer Movie Encoder to work. Synaptics eventually showed 28 new packages will be installed which was done. But, the skin showing the "controls" (fast forward, pause etc) is dead. I am using the USB flash on a HP desktop and all other Remix features work well. Plus the Nvidea gui card fills my 19" flat screen exquisitely well. And, the stick works very nicely on my Acer Netbook (aspire one 250) too.

the only problem is that for .avi and .mp4 movies (these are the ones i tried), fast forward and rewind do not work. transcoding is not enabled.
I'm in trouble with playbacks (video and audio, desktop apps and live streams on Firefox). They are all running at least at double speed.

Running Fedora 13 - 64 bits - cpu AMD Phenom II X2 955 (dual core) flat, no overclocking, no hacking of any kind. I've tried a re-install of all media codecs and plugins. The problem persists since fresh install of Fedora.
Since kernel update 2.6.40 Totem plays video like in Fast Forward (no sound). Reverting to 2.6.38 solves the problem.

When I try to play music through any player, the music plays at a slightly higher speed - roughly 10% faster (a 3:17 song finishes in 2:5. I tried installing 10.10 and had the same problem, and I just went back to 10.04 with a fresh install and still seeing the issue. Is this a common problem for people? My sound hardware is the following as reported by lspci

1-When entering a music CD, video or files, any programs or music or video players and desktop are closed are removed all the icons and I can not open any program only on firefox, I can not see the files or anything . (NOTE CD-rom is in mint condition)
2-I graphics effects ruin the entire desktop and when it is in fact no graphic still looks bad everything looks pixelated or striped like when flex is damaged or something is damaged and is in perfect condition.
Now I'm going with the version 10.04 of ubuntu:
1-I have the same problem with the CD I had in 9.10, except that in the 10/04 I can open some programs with the Emphaty and monitor systems.
2-When you close the laptop when I open the screen looks as if the flex embers damaged or broken screen (when it is of course) and I have no other to reset it.
3-When you drive about 30 minutes using computed with any open programs (Firefox, Emphaty, emesene, movie player, Gnome player) to close it or minimize it gets super slow and sometimes if I Friza and then to turn it off and repeat history.
4-When I'm watching a movie or a video with movie player is super slow (just what I'm playing does not the OS) as if Lageado and stuff. But with Gnome looks pretty good player just the video looks very small and I can not put it full screen. Certainly in a Dell Latitude C610 Pentium III-Processor: 1000/700mhz-Memory: 512MB Graphics-Card: 16mb.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to route packets coming from a standalone switch port which is a mirror ("tap") of another port ("source"). I can't seem to forward packets whose MAC address is for a different device (the actual "target" of "source"). My device is in promisc mode,I can see the incoming packets in tcpdump and Wireshark. The only packets which get forwarded are those which have my MAC destination address (I changed the wiring to come straight from source and not the mirror port, to get "my" MAC address in the packet). My routing table is configured to forward and I have ip_forwarding enabled, obviously (otherwise packets sent to my MAC wouldn't route). By the way, the incoming packets are all VLAN tagged and I have matching subinterfaces.
Q1 - is this inherent, that packets won't get "passed up" to the IP layer unless the MAC addresses match?
Q2 - Would ebtables be a good solution, i.e. rewrite the dest MAC address to my own MAC addr and send to the INPUT target?

I would however like to use Banshee, but in Banshee all my iPod 5G-music is displayed under the video folder, while the music folder is empty. Any idea why?And also I have several albums with different artists on them, which gets spread out on i.e. 10 single albums even though they belong to the same album. This happens - as far as I can tell - after I've accessed the iPod from Rhythmbox (which is part of the reason why I wanna use Banshee).

With having the wireless interface get into monitor mode, I want to forward the captured packets from the wireless interface to the other Ethernet interface so that a different computer which is connected to this machine via Ethernet receives those packets. I checked that alll packets are received in the wireless interface using TCPDUMP. I tried to forward those packets with IPTABLES like 'iptables -p FORWARD -i ath0 -o eth2 -j ACCEPT' However, I couldn't see any packets forwarded to eth2 using TCPDUMP.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been hunting around for some screen capture software in Ubuntu, for future screencasts and out of the handful I've tried I've gone with gtk-recordmydesktop. After initial problems with recording quality, I have managed to get everything working but have noticed that on playback of any captured video, is played back at a crazy speed, the frame rate is not the issue as it is on the default 15 FPS setting but still the play back is very fast.
I noticed before my tweaking that playback was normal speed, but the quality was garbage, and I found that this was because of Compiz being enabled, and I have to run gtk-recordmydesktop with "Encode on the fly" and "Full shots at every frame" enabled in order for the video playback to not be all cut up, however ever since encoding on the fly has been enabled, this has caused playback to be hilariously fast.
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with Compiz enabled. With an nVidia GPU (8200 M)
I'm trying to find out which application will copy DVD discs (video and data) in raw mode. Something that works for DVDs like cdrdao works for CDs. I tried using cdrdao but it errors out because the DVD disc is too big for it. I tried looking at Brasero but I can't tell if it offers a raw option. I see that Brasero lets you copy a DVD to a RAW image, then burn the RAW image back to a DVD-R. If Brasero uses RAW mode to do a direct copy, this would essentially do the same thing, but I can't tell if that is what it does. But, I think this will work.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two Ubuntus installed. A 10.04 and a 9.04. In 9.04 if I watch a video in Firefox, it works very smoothly and nicely. Using the "top" command, totem-plugin-vi is using the most cpu time at about 16%, and xorg is using about 5%. But in 10.04, totem is using 72% and xorg is using 26%, and it looks really choppy. I think watching DVDs is the same way. I checked "Hardware Drivers" in the System->Administration menu (in 10.04) and it said "No proprietary drivers are in use on this system." I'm guessing maybe I'm using different video drivers on each system, but I don't even know how to check. and here is an excerpt from lspci:

I have loaded 9.10 ( 64 bit ) under VMWare Workstation 6.5 and each new install results in fast audio ( mp3 ) and video ( avi, mpg, etc ) playback. I am trying to keep the installs as vanilla as possible. My other VM distros are fine.
I am creating the VMs under vista x64, SP1 ( now updated to SP2 ), using workstation 6.5 ( will upgrade to 7 later on ).
I recently tried out recordMyDesktop (not the GTK+ frontend, just the CLI program, I wanted to Keep It Simple this time ), and found that the videos it records/encodes show massive motion-smearing artifacts when played back. This is without the "--on-the-fly-encoding" option; with it, the video looks fine (i.e. has no artifacts other than the typical ones found in any compressed video), but it plays back too quickly (the time-step between frames is too high, thus making everything go too fast when the video is played back, even though the frame rate is low). Here's a screenshot of the video playing, showing what the artifacts look like (they're nasty!).
I've searched Google and LQ about this problem to no avail: either there were no relevant results, or it was just a post on a different forum asking basically the same question, but with no answer. So apparently this problem is either really rare, or it's something specific to my configuration, and mine alone (highly unlikely).

I can't seek music cause i can't find that little circular on music track bar. I update fedora but there was not any good news for rythmbox

Problem: In order to get the sound to play on my system I have to go to PulseAudio Device Chooser and select default server,sink, etc. every login. I thought it was suppose to change it "permanently" , getting more specific here, when ever I play music in vlc I tend notice gaps/skips in my music very short skips .5 to 1 second sometimes 2 - 3, just now I was playing music flipping through some tracks then I am greeted with a nasty sound I cannot describe. Does anyone have a proper fix for this? Only result I came upon I have not tried yet was something with hda intel sound card and power settings, which feel will not work anyway

I was trying to make Plymouth work on my F11 install. So I followed the tips lying around and added vga=792 to the kernel line of /boot/grub/grub.conf . Result: at startup I get the message " Unknown video mode 0x318" (792 is 0x318 in hex) and a list of modes. Pity all modes are text modes. There is also the ability to type "scan" to see mode video modes, but the additional modes found are text-only (well, text on framebuffer, but still text). The boot sequence only shows a black screen, with "Fedora 11" and a blue bar (different shades of blue) at the bottom. What's strange, is that radeon.ko is in the initrd. What to do to make mode vga=792 (or any graphical mode) work?

I'm trying to us ushare to stream music and video to my 360. I have ushare setup and my 360 sees ushare but none of the files I'm trying to stream. When I run ushare -x it only sees the two folders I'm sharing and none of the files.
