Every music or video player I use there is the same problem, I can't fast forvard the song. the seeker is grey and I can't move it so I can't move the slider to, for example, to middle of the song.
View 8 RepliesI have some playlist I want to keep the songorder, but I have the files in another file-structure.( I have the songs ordered in folder by artist and album, cos all songs are note tagged correctly or in the same way.)I want to use the playlist with the songs in copied to an another plays, for instance an usb-stick.Is there an application who fix mass change of all links to the songs?

Or Is there a way in Amarok or another music-player that can make a copy of the playlists song order and use it with new links on a usb-memory? I don't now how sync to media-player and such things work.
I can play mp3, ..... etc. fine on gnome. However on kde, they always play at 3x or 4x speed. In fact, they just run through, not producing any sound. I can see the video zipping past on ...... Is there a setting for this on kde, that needs to be fixed?
View 2 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, this is not a rhythmbox issue, but a pulseaudio one. Everytime I click on next song (in rhythmbox or amarok), the master volume drops about 25 percent. Once the volume goes to 0, the volume cannot be modified without going into sound preferences and unmuting the volume for the application. This is *very* annoying. Basically, it means that everytime I click on next song, I need to follow that with 2 or 3 hits of up volume.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just(4 hours ago at this writing) installed 10.04 LTS LL on my Toshiba Satellite. I transfered a few albums from my external HDD, to my laptop, and opened Rhythmbox. First, as usual with a new install, I had to dl Gstreamer, and some other plugins, to allow the program to properly play mp3's. This was done with no problems, of any kind, but I then found that, once a song began to play, I was unable to skip ahead in the track.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter working properly for over a year my videos started playing in fast forward. This can be on the internet (as in wwww.wimp.com) or my video clips located on my hard drive.
Also, on a different note my volume control stopped working. My keyboard has a volume control wheel that I used to use to control the volume of music and videos. First it gave out on my side and continued to work on my wife's side and now it doesn't work on ether. (the volume level bar pops up on the screen but doesn't affect the output) (The volume can still be controlled with the mouse though by clicking on the volume bar on whatever web page I am looking at.)
Just did a fresh install of Karmic, got all necessary decoders installed for video and audio playback...I think.
Problem is I can't forward/search in audio files I am playing. I mean I can only Play, Pause, Stop or "Next-track" a music file. Video files are fine.
I've tried Exaile, Rythmbox and even Totem. It is like the audio files are "half read-only".
If I drag a horizontal scroller in the music player and let it go, it will only jump back to the position where it is actually playing.
Has anyone experienced, this? I am a missing something in gstreamer or something like it?
I am "fleshing out" my USB flash drive Netbook Remix of Ubuntu and have run into a snag on getting Mplayer Movie Encoder to work. Synaptics eventually showed 28 new packages will be installed which was done. But, the skin showing the "controls" (fast forward, pause etc) is dead. I am using the USB flash on a HP desktop and all other Remix features work well. Plus the Nvidea gui card fills my 19" flat screen exquisitely well. And, the stick works very nicely on my Acer Netbook (aspire one 250) too.

the only problem is that for .avi and .mp4 movies (these are the ones i tried), fast forward and rewind do not work. transcoding is not enabled.
When attempting to play an MP3 which is stored on my computers hard drive the song just stops playing part the way thru the song.I have had this happen on multiple computers that have Ubuntu/Lucid installed.Sometimes I get the error message that is attached,ut sometime I do not get this error message, the music just stops playing.What is causing this. I have another computer that also has Lucid installed and this does NOT happen

I am having music playback issues in lucid right now. When I try to play music through any player, the music plays at a slightly higher speed - roughly 10% faster (a 3:17 song finishes in 2:5. I tried installing 10.10 and had the same problem, and I just went back to 10.04 with a fresh install and still seeing the issue. Is this a common problem for people? My sound hardware is the following as reported by lspci

3 o 4 days ago I installed KDE 4.6 from KDE 46 repository and I upgrade my OS and some applications like Amarok. I had some problems so I erased .kde folder and reboot my computer. KDE 4.6 works fine and fast (in my opinion, faster than KDE 4.5) but I have problems with Amarok 2.4. When I try to scan my music collection Amarok don't find any song. I have a NTFS partition in my computer and I have all my music there. I mount the partition since fstab and in 6 months I didn't have any problem. I can use Clementine for exmple and scan all my songs perfectly, but not Amarok.

In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.
How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?
I've had an awkward problem lately: every music player I use wants to instead of play music from my USB external hard drive, stream music from it. I have no idea why it suddenly started doing that. It may have been an accidental key-combo I pressed, thinking I had another window targeted and didn't bother pressing it again for my Totem music player. So I closed out of Totem in hopes that Rythmbox would work like totem used to. Well, it doesn't. It wants to stream music now.The problem with the streaming music is trivial, but here it is: I have a playlist with a little over 300 songs. I have Totem set to shuffle and repeat my music. Streaming music with it makes it just stop randomly after a few songs, and when I try to pause music and play it later it takes a good 30 seconds before it kicks back in at the beginning of the song.Like I always ask because I don't know enough to give back to the community yet, can anyone help me? Thanks.

It seems to having trouble playing DVD's and video files. it has a tendency to stop/freeze and sometimes if I try move the progress bar or scroll back or forward it wil just instantly close the Movie Player. View 1 Replies View RelatedI am searching for an xmms like music player. rythmbox doesn't do it for me because it organizes songs by genre and such rather than by files - I find changing tags on individual music files tiresome, and I prefer the xmms style - all music was accessed as I access all other files on my computer. Frankly I don't know how to "compile from source" and can't quite follow the instructions describing how to "compile" the original xmms. Xmms2 doesn't seem to work on my computer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows 7, and I have all my music files on an external hard drive that I read from both OSes. When in Windows 7, I use iTunes as my music player. Does anyone know of a way to keep the ratings, primarily, and play counts as a bonus quest, synced between iTunes and a Linux music player, whether it's Rhythmbox, Banshee, Amarok, or some other player. This is the number one feature I'd like so I'll switch to using almost any music player if I can have this.
If there's a way to import ratings from iTunes that's a start, but that's more of a one time thing. I might be able to write a script that does this importing regularly but what I'd really like is a seamless way to keep the ratings between the two music players synced. I know I can use Amarok or Banshee on Windows and that might make what I'm trying to do easier, but for other reasons I need to keep using iTunes on Windows.
I'm looking for a music player, similar to rhythmbox, but one that allows for drag 'n drop mp3 cd burning capabilities.
If I'm not clear, I want to be able to drag songs from my library into a playlist, or whatever, just like rhythmbox will do for audio cd's, but be able to burn it as an mp3 cd to allow for long playlists.
My music folder is close to 10000 files in MANY MANY different folders. So making a long mp3 mixtape would be much easier if I could do it in the same program that already has every song in front of me.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)
1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why?
2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
