Red Hat / Fedora :: Audio Stuttering In Flash Video Stream

Feb 17, 2011

i've been experiencing an issue with audio playback for certain flash videos that stream from the web. most play smoothly, like the videos at videos. others have this strange background noise that is only present when there is audio (usually on news websites that host their own videos). when there is sound, there is a strange stuttering noise that disappears during the silent pauses.

here's a perfect example:
epidemic of tsa criminality: more agents caught stealing cash from luggage, another arrested for assault. the videos video at the top plays just fine. if you scroll down and watch the other video in the small box, you'll hear the stuttering. i have fedora 14 kde, adobe flash player 64 bit preview release 3 and rpm fusion codecs installed. the problem is also present in fedora 14 with gnome, same setup. the problematic videos play without the stuttering in ubuntu.

Fedora :: Flash Videos Playing Too Fast

Dec 24, 2010

First answer this: Do you have a video card with an HDMI port on it? If you aren't sure you can look for this: (FWI its close to the same size as a VGA port) If you answered yes, follow these steps and hopefully it will solve the ..... Flash issue. (Fedora 14 KDE instructions)

Kicker Menu > Computer > System Settings > Multimedia

Select "Phonon" on the left. With Phonon selected, click on "Audio Output" at the top and notice the right box fills with all your audio devices listed in order of which device is default starting from the top. Notice the "(HDMI)" next to one of them lol? Simply click the HDMI device and then click "Defer" a few times. This should solve your Flash problems permanently. he reason why this happens is HDMI is both video AND audio. If both are being processed through a video card, theres nothing slowing it down for normal playback.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Audio Cuts Off In Online Flash Video

Aug 17, 2010

This happens nearly anytime I watch any relatively lengthy flash video on ..... or other online flash players. I watch the video, and the audio is fine for a few seconds, but then the audio cuts off as the video continues to play. Sometimes, when I move the scrollbar of the screen/pause and replay the movie, it starts back up again for a few seconds then shuts off or plays the audio I just heard.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Video Freezes Audio Continues In Flash Fullscreen?

Jan 28, 2010

n an up-to-date kubuntu karmic I experience the following:watching a flash video with adobeflash in firefox in fullscreen mode, randomly the picture freezes while the audio continues. The video unfreezes when I move the mouse, the video then fastforwards to the actual replay position. Video card is nvidia geforce fx5200 on proprietary driver, I have the desktop effects enabled. Any idea what this is about? I discovered the effects causing wine windows to break (no window contents, no foreground, no reaction on mouse) when changing the desktops or minimizing them. Seems like there are some bugs in the window manager / decorator...

Ubuntu :: Audio Is Moving Too Fast?

Oct 10, 2010

My install of 10.10 went fine with the exception of Audio. If I attempt to use audio with the Rythmbox application or through Adobe Flash (in firefox), it sounds like an old fashioned 33 1/3 rpm phonograph record playing at 45 rpms. This problem has been around for a while and I had hoped that it would be cleaned up by now.

I'm running an AMD 64 processor (in 32 bit mode) and my audio card is a "Sound Blaster Live Value" (EMU10k1X). My on-board sound card is turned off in the bios. It works beautifully under Ubuntu 10.04 and FC13 with Pulse Audio.

Originally I thought that it might be a problem with Rythmbox which is now at v 0.13.1, a later version then I have been using in 10.04. However, with the Rhythmbox application off, I still get the same effect when trying to use audio in firefox. I also noticed that my cpu utilization climbs to about 80% when Rhythmbox is on.

I attached some .a/s/s subtitles to the video, and the preview looked great. Encoded the video, and the audio plays like two times faster than the actual video, so by about halfway through the video, the audio is done and im left in silence with the video still going.

I set the video to MPEG-4 AVC, attach .a/s/s subs, leave audio alone, and encode using default option (Single pass-quality quantisizer)

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Unable To Fast Forward Audio File / Enable This?

Jan 4, 2010

Just did a fresh install of Karmic, got all necessary decoders installed for video and audio playback...I think.

Problem is I can't forward/search in audio files I am playing. I mean I can only Play, Pause, Stop or "Next-track" a music file. Video files are fine.

I've tried Exaile, Rythmbox and even Totem. It is like the audio files are "half read-only".

If I drag a horizontal scroller in the music player and let it go, it will only jump back to the position where it is actually playing.

Has anyone experienced, this? I am a missing something in gstreamer or something like it?

Ubuntu :: Video Playback Very Fast With Gtk-recordmydesktop

Aug 28, 2010

I've been hunting around for some screen capture software in Ubuntu, for future screencasts and out of the handful I've tried I've gone with gtk-recordmydesktop. After initial problems with recording quality, I have managed to get everything working but have noticed that on playback of any captured video, is played back at a crazy speed, the frame rate is not the issue as it is on the default 15 FPS setting but still the play back is very fast.

I noticed before my tweaking that playback was normal speed, but the quality was garbage, and I found that this was because of Compiz being enabled, and I have to run gtk-recordmydesktop with "Encode on the fly" and "Full shots at every frame" enabled in order for the video playback to not be all cut up, however ever since encoding on the fly has been enabled, this has caused playback to be hilariously fast.

I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with Compiz enabled. With an nVidia GPU (8200 M)

Fedora :: Online Flash Games - Audio Late With Actions

Jul 2, 2010

I just got fedora 13 today and put it on a slightly older computer to mess around with it, and two things I realized.

1. I installed Flash player through a program called easyLiving, but when i play flash games online like on armorgames, everything will play fine, but sound will play about 2 seconds late with actions.

2. I can't play .wmv files from my MP3 player, I found some codes online and installed them, but now it just looks like I have 3 different audio players in mozilla and I'm not sure which kind to enable, and I still can't play .wmv movies. (I actually believe that problem 1 is unrelated, because I noticed it before I started downloading different audio players.)

Fedora :: F12 - Firefox 64bit Flash Pulse Audio (No Sound)

Apr 18, 2010

the situation was that i had 2 fedora 12 boxen. one played flash videos with sound, and one did not! eventually i found the actual problem, and it was trivially fixed (i don't want to remember the many blind alleys i went into first...).

when i looked at
system ==> sound preferences ==> sound
and selected the 'applications' tab, i got the line:
"no application is currently running or recording audio.",
but the mute check box to the right of the 'output volume' slider at the top of the tab was unticked.

however, when i was running a flash video, i had a line:
"alsa plug-in (npviewer.bin) ..." with another mute check box on the right that was ticked! unticking this new mute check box, enabled firefox to play videos video's with sound!
