This is possibly the so-manieth sound issue, but I couldn't find a solution just yet. I run F11 64bit, and have installed all codecs with Autoten. Now I run into the problem that at random intervals, music I play suddenly starts fast-forwarding (so playing at 5 times the speed). It starts fine, and then suddenly, after a couple of minutes, it goes weird. I haven't discovered any other symptoms yet.
View 4 RepliesI can play mp3, ..... etc. fine on gnome. However on kde, they always play at 3x or 4x speed. In fact, they just run through, not producing any sound. I can see the video zipping past on ...... Is there a setting for this on kde, that needs to be fixed?

When I try to play music through any player, the music plays at a slightly higher speed - roughly 10% faster (a 3:17 song finishes in 2:5. I tried installing 10.10 and had the same problem, and I just went back to 10.04 with a fresh install and still seeing the issue. Is this a common problem for people? My sound hardware is the following as reported by lspci

For reference, I also have 2 other boxes in the house running 10.04 with different sound hardware with no issues. Their hardware are:

Every music or video player I use there is the same problem, I can't fast forvard the song. the seeker is grey and I can't move it so I can't move the slider to, for example, to middle of the song.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThe problem started with that I got a lot of errors about missing header files included from SDL_mixer.h when I attempted to compile my projects. I looked in the directory of this file, and all header files were missing except SDL_mixer.h Resolved this by compiling and installing the base SDL library package. Programs that got recompiled and were able to play music before suddenly produced no music, but sound effects worked. However, old binaries that were compiled prior to the issue with the missing header files played music fine. What the heck is this? I get no errors, nor warnings; none at compilation, none on execution. The kernel pool (dmesg) is clean. There is also another strange issue, which perhaps has nothing to do with the first issue. x86_1$ ./fire XDM authorization key matches an existing client!Couldn't initialize SDL: Couldn't open X11 display.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter a successful upgrade to lucid, everything was going GREAT (including FINALLY having surround output) until now all of the sudden music files won't play... When I double-click a file, Totem opens automatically, and it says it's playing,but there's no sound and the bar does not move across at the bottom. In VLC, the bar moves like it's playing, but there is still no sound. Doesn't work when I hover the cursor over a file, either. In previous versions of Ubuntu, a simple reboot would fix this, but that doesn't work with Lucid... Online streaming works fine.

Problem: In order to get the sound to play on my system I have to go to PulseAudio Device Chooser and select default server,sink, etc. every login. I thought it was suppose to change it "permanently" , getting more specific here, when ever I play music in vlc I tend notice gaps/skips in my music very short skips .5 to 1 second sometimes 2 - 3, just now I was playing music flipping through some tracks then I am greeted with a nasty sound I cannot describe. Does anyone have a proper fix for this? Only result I came upon I have not tried yet was something with hda intel sound card and power settings, which feel will not work anyway

I have a CentOS5 box I use to run ASSP for Anti-spam. It has a single NIC. I configure network settings using Webmin. I have two Internet connections managed by different routers.
Router 1 - 10.0.0.254 255.255.255.0
Router 2 - 10.0.0.250 255.255.255.0
CentOS - 10.0.0.30 255.255.255.0
Both routers port forward traffic on port 25 (SMTP) to the CentOS box. The SMTP connections only work for the router that is the default gateway on the CentOS box! If Router 1 is configured as the default gateway in CentOS then I can Telnet to that routers WAN IP on port 25 and successfully send mail! On Router 2 I get no connection unless I change the default gateway in CentOS to be the IP of Router 2 thern Router 1 SMTP connections will not work! I imagine that CentOS is sending out it's responses to the default gateway instead of the Router that initiated the port forward?
I have forwarded ssh and rdp protocols in the router which is in remote location. And i aslo configured dhcp reservation for my windows server's ipaddress. I have added that reserved ipaddress of windows server in the RDP port forwarding ip. And i connected to windows server through remote desktop with the ipaddress of the router because i needed a public ipaddress to connect. And now i am going to add my linux servers ip also to dhcp reservation and forward ssh port and give that reserved ipaddress. can i connect to linux server with same public ip that i used to connect for windows server?

Does anyone know a tweak to make KMail Replies and forwards to stop convert everything to plain text and strip the images? I live in a family where we all share parody, etc. emails, and plain text rarely ever cuts it. I did not suffer such with Thunderbird.

2. all the emails sent to a domain alias should be automatically forwarded to the respective email account in the main domain.

We have a database that stores the mailboxes as we have our own control panel. I can get only one working at a time. I have the mysql query in the .cf file and mentioned it in the main.cf as 'virtual_alias_maps' but i need both to work not just one at a time.
My wireless seems to be fast for a good 30secs then bang takes good while to load the next page almost as if it's disconnecting and then reconnecting/scanning reconnecting. Why cant it stay connected. My wireless device is an Intel Ultimate N WiFi Link 5300, driver is iwl4965. Post-suspend I see exactly the same messages as in that Ubuntu report. Restarting NM does not help.Is there a way to lengthen to timeout or kick the device in to life some other way?
Installing 11.2 from KDE LiveCD on an IBM ThinkCenter with 3.2Gb CPU and 1Gb RAM. Ubuntu 9.04 on first two partitions. I go through the configuration, click to 'install': Install display bars remain blank. After 2-3 minutes, black screen with scroll of attempted installation pieces and the error message: "Respawning too fast. Disabled for 5 min." Freeze.
Other posts mention problem with init. But this is happening with the install so not able to address that. No apparent md5chksum for LiveCDs. No mention of this problem in installation help guide. Does anyone know how to deal with this? If you need more info, I will provide. Though it seems this is not an unusual problem when booting an installed system, there's no mention of it happening during installation.
I have had F11 installed for over a week. When I play a video or a sound file it plays fast. All the audio is whinny and voices are high like its playing to fast. If i match the time it does play about 6 seconds fast.

If you aren't sure you can look for this: (FWI its close to the same size as a VGA port) If you answered yes, follow these steps and hopefully it will solve the ..... Flash issue. Kicker Menu > Computer > System Settings > Multimedia
Select "Phonon" on the left. With Phonon selected, click on "Audio Output" at the top and notice the right box fills with all your audio devices listed in order of which device is default starting from the top. Notice the "(HDMI)" next to one of them lol? Simply click the HDMI device and then click "Defer" a few times. This should solve your Flash problems permanently. he reason why this happens is HDMI is both video AND audio. If both are being processed through a video card, theres nothing slowing it down for normal playback.
I use many distros with Amsn or Emesene with both and in all distros slow file transfer speed. There Any knows a client with acceptable transfer speed?

Running Fedora 13 - 64 bits - cpu AMD Phenom II X2 955 (dual core) flat, no overclocking, no hacking of any kind. I've tried a re-install of all media codecs and plugins. The problem persists since fresh install of Fedora.
Since kernel update 2.6.40 Totem plays video like in Fast Forward (no sound). Reverting to 2.6.38 solves the problem.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am installing Fedora 12 on a VIA pico ITX and am running into some issues.
I had the same board but with an PATA/IDE drive, and on that it installed just fine. I needed a bigger/better drive so I did get an SATA drive for it.
After the install it either freezes/hangs when the post install begins or IF the post install works (when I use ide=nodma) it won't boot. I do get to see the grub screen (if I change the timeout in grub.conf) but as soon as the kernel starts loading it freezes. and I see a black screen with a prett fast blinking cursor.
With the live cd, if I try to boot: it reports, no root available going to sleep.
How may I slow down the mouse scroll speed in F10? When I use the scroll wheel, a mere fraction of a turn and I am zooming through a page. I already tried changing some settings in Firefox, per another posting on scroll speed. It did not seem to work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried to compile Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller driver for fedora 13 64 bit kernel version is 2.6.34.7-56.fc13.x86_64. I have installed kernel source , kernel header and necessary all things to compile it. (linux-firmware-20100806-4.fc13.noarch also installed). I tried AR81Family-linux-v1.0.1.13 source from Atheros web site.
But when I try to make it it give following error.

This driver is not supported on kernel versions older than 2.4.0. Stop. It is not compiling issue because I compiled and installed broadcom wireless driver.

My wireless gets randomly disabled in my Acer Timeline 3810 with F11. The time it can take is basically random, but most of the times it ends up happening. I get disconnected, and then in the network manager in gnome panel wireless network appears disables and in fact the option appears grayed out. The only thing I can do to get it back workinh is restart.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora 12 and I am only running ALSA (not PulseAudio) for my sound.[URL}.. It was working fine until one day I noticed I'm getting no sound. There have been countless Fedora updates (prompted by the Fedora updater) so I'm suspecting some update horsed it up somewhere.
So when I go into System > Preferences > Sound it just hangs waiting for the sound system to respond. The sound card works fine because when I dual boot to Windows XP I do indeed get sound and I haven't changed anything since it worked before under Fedora. Everything is unmuted and turned up in my alsamixer settings.
