I installed Fedora 11 last night, and it seemed to go OK. The trouble is, I cannot get a wireless connection to the internet. The system seems to recognize my wireless USB adapter, but the buttons to activate the device remain grayed-out no matter what I try. I ran through all of the steps in the help menu (still grayed-out); I tried deleting and adding the device (no go); I tried to run the installation disk that came with the USB adapter (wouldn't run); I pulled the drivers off of the installation disk (Fedora couldn't recognize the file type); I changed it from "wlan" to "eth0" to "eth1"... but still no love!
This doesn't seem like a problem between the adapter and the router... the USB adapter and my PC can see each other, but can't "talk" to each other.
Info:
PC - Dell Optiplex GX50 (circa 2001)
OS - Fedora 11
USB adapter - Linksys WUSB54GC
Wireless Router - Linksys WRT54G (reflashed with dd.wrt)
The usb device scans in Windows with a driver but i can't find a linux driver so i installed ndiswrapper.
ifconfig does not list the wlan0 device. iwconfig lists wlan0 YaST2 doesn't find any networks. Ethernet works just fine.
I got a wireless USB and I can't get it working. I bought it knowing it has Linux drivers (I want to stay as far away from ndiswrapper as possible) but I'm not having any luck.
Could anyone help me get it working?
I recently installed lucid Lynx in my laptop, everything works great except my WUSB54GC (v3) usb wireless adapter, the green light in the usb stick stays off and the OS don't recognize the USB either (i have been using it in WIN7 so i know its not broken)
reading previous post i tried the following:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
Added a line
blacklist rt2800usb
after restart it was recognized but only worked for a little while (with download speeds about 30kbps and disconnecting every 30 min or so ) today it wasn't working at all
I have also tried installing the driver provided by linksys using the "windows wireless drivers" obtained by ubuntu software center, no luck there
I bought this adapter today but my computer running on Ubuntu 9.10 doesn't recognize the CD.
How do I get this work?
Hey, I'm just set up my first Linux machine running openSUSE 11.4 and I'm not sure where to get the drivers for a Linksys WUSB54GC USB wifi card. I've read about using ndiswrapper to use the Windows driver, is this the best route?

Is it having problems locating the firmware; How do I update the alias.I can get online to learn. Something to not is I've tried blacklisting the drivers before installation and also after. This time I still havent modprobed rt73 from following this thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1178790 nor have I plugged in my Wireless adapter during the installation phase yet.
I just installed Ubuntu 10.10 on my thinkpad t30 and I can't get my usb wireless adapter to work. My adapter is a wusb54gc v3 from linksy's. My kernel is a 2.6.35-22-generic.

However, my problem is not an installation problem. Ubuntu 10.04 - Fresh install on machine with no previous OS it was a beautiful install experience. I have a Linksys WUSB54GC little plug in thing that is in one of the USB ports At the top of the screen it says that the computer is connected to the network genevapubliclibrary 100%
But when I access firefox, there is no internet connection. I checked the Preferences, Advanced, Network tab, Connection and the Settings button. It is set to "No Proxy". This is the same setting as our library laptop - also wireless - in firefox but using vista. If this has been addressed elsewhere, I apologize. I tried looking for linksys wusb54gc but no one had this problem.
I am working on an embedded system, which is an USB MSC device that supports some vendor specific scsi commands. I am using FC10 laptop as USB host for testing, and it runs some small apps based on sg3. All has been well for ~ a week. The FC10 laptop is able to communicate with the device and retrieve data. Suddenly, starting from today, the laptop is not able to properly detect the device. When plugged-in, the MSC device is detected as input device (I thought). This is observed from "dmesg" output and changes in "/dev/input/".The device under development is running at full speed. When I connect to winXP, no problem. A windows file explorer pops up, showing the content of the drive. Also, the FC10 has no problem with other USB flash drive (high speed).

I get an error message saying that the print queue cannot be started and it asks me to restart CUPS. I tried restarting CUPS and adding the device. It did not work. The printer is on my home network wirelessly. I can add it through the CUPS web interface and print, but then I cannot access the scanner. I tried adding the device after it was already added through CUPS, but that did not work. I would like to use the scanner; I don't really care about the fax.

Is there anyway to sync my mtp device? I use Rythmbox and quite like it. It will let me drag and drop songs onto my MTP device. What I'm looking for is a true sync. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a USB CDC device that I want to use in Fedora 13.I have a USB to TTL converter that I want to use to connect a GPS with TTL output to my PC, since this PC does not have a serial port. I am running windows7 Ultimate, Fedora 13 and WinXp. The converter uses an FTDI chip. When I connected the device in windows 7 it showed as a USB device. However using the vendor supplied driver enabled it to be treated it as a COM port and I used a vendor supplied terminal to communicate with the device. The device however behaved abnormally and after a reboot stopped working showing an enumeration error.I switched to Fedora 13, where the device showed as /dev/ttyUSB0. I used stty -F /dev/USB0 ispeed 4800 and then cat /dev/ttyUSB0 to communicate with this device. It worked fine. However after a reboot it started behaving weird.
I used dmesg | grep tty and the output showed the device as being connected and disconnected frequently, although I did not disconnect it.lsusb sometimes showed an entry Bus 006 Device 002: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) ICand at other times showed no such device. I thought there was a problem in the hardware. But then i connected the device to WinXP. It showed up as COM3 in the device manager. I changed the speed to 4800 bps and set flow control to XON/XOFF in the property of COM3. In the Hyperterminal application that ships with WinXp I set 8 bit data and no parity bit. It worked flawlessly. I have to make these settings at every reboot. However I want to use it under Linux (fedora 13). My guess is that if i can somehow set the XON/XOFF and 8 bit data, no parity things it would work fine
