Debian Configuration :: No Sound On Internal Laptop Speakers

Jun 27, 2011

I have an acer timelinex 5830tg notebook. After weeks of frustration, i finally have a linux setup that is stable. Thank god for debian. I don't know why I mess with anything else. Anyway, i'm unable to get my built in laptop speakers to work. I get sound through headphone jack, and I hear sound coming from the built in speakers for a split second when plugging in/unplugging my AC adaptor.Let me know if there is any other output needed, which may assist in this issue. Hopefully someone can help me out.

General :: Sound Heard In External Headphones / But Not In Internal Speakers Of Laptop

Aug 20, 2010

I am new to fedora 13. My problem is that I can not hear any sound from my laptop's internal speakers (that works f9 in windows--so no h/w probs!) but when I connect external headphones, everything is heard.I have tried several commands from various internet sources since past one week. I don't understand many of the commands that I have run, but that has somehow helped me to run media files and hear sound on HEADPHONES.

Debian Configuration :: Creepy Sound From Logitech Audiohub Speakers / Fix It?

Aug 16, 2010

http://forums.logitechio.com/t5/2-1-2-0 ... d-p/216711
https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php ... 48#p374748

This may be a bit late for the OP, but I thought to post here, as this thread seems to surface when googling for Audiohub problems. I had this roughly 10-20 Hz ticking/popping constant noise as well, and it seems to be related to the fact that the speakers are connected through a USB hub, not directly.

After experimenting a bit with the kernel USB configuration, the noise went away when I unselected
USB_EHCI_ROOT_HUB_TT and USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED at "Device drivers - USB support - EHCI HCD". I think it is the latter option that made the difference. This was on kernel 2.6.25.4. Although marked experimental, both seem to be selected on Arch kernel26. On older kernels (2.6.20-2.6.24) you may have to select USB_EHCI_SPLIT_ISO, but there I am just guessing.

The hardware volume knob still does nothing (I don't think there is a hardware mixer, probably it just tries to communicate the volume changing request to the computer). Does anyone have idea how to make this work, it's kind of sad to have one and not be able to use it?

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Sound Is Not Coming From Laptop Speakers And Headphones

Apr 24, 2010

I might have a different problems as I have a newer laptop, a HP dv6-2170us with intel i5 cpu. I had no wireless with the 2.6.31 kernel so I upgraded to the 2.6.34 and had to manually compile my wireless driver. Everything works great now except the sound issue. I thought it use to work out the box with the old kernel, but then again I might be wrong. I knwo it works in the "other os" dual booting and all. Its a not a huge issue, but hopeing I could resolve it. Here is some of the info from reading some of the other posts. the model=dell-vostro I just tried to see if that works, which is doesnt, so thats why thats in my sound.conf file.

[Code].....

Have I missed anything? I have tried the fix here: Audio coming from both headphone and laptop speakers - Page 3 - openSUSE Forums page 3 about adding a repo and upgrading, but that upgrade wants me to revert back to the older kernel in which case I dont have wireless support or acpi working proporly, so thats not a doable thing for me.

Debian Multimedia :: Switching Between Headphones And Laptop Speakers

Sep 30, 2014

Im running Jessie, and have run into issue with my laptop sound card.

If is shutdown the laptop with the headphones plugged in, and remove them while its off, system wont recognize they are not there any more and is probably sending sound out to this output. To get the sound out to my laptop speakers I need to plug the headphones while the system is up, and remove them again. Only then will the output device work properly.

Debian Hardware :: No Sound From Speakers

Mar 20, 2015

Laptop Model: C55-B5297
SoundCard/Chipset : Intel C210

Sound works through headphones but not through speakers. After trying for hours googling and different snd-hda-intel options in the /etc/modprobe. d/ alsa-base.conf file with no success I decided to reload deb. There is probably some snd-hda-intel option I havent tried yet to get what I need on this machine, or perhaps I'm just missing something all together. As stated sound works through headphone jack. I've gone into the system settings and there is no "speaker" or similar output device to select. I found many people report with the C210 that using Code: Select alloptions snd-hda-intel model=generic worked for them, but has not worked for me.

Current alsa-base.conf file reads (after format/reload)

Code: Select all# autoloader aliases
install sound-slot-0 /sbin/modprobe snd-card-0
install sound-slot-1 /sbin/modprobe snd-card-1
install sound-slot-2 /sbin/modprobe snd-card-2

Debian :: Cannot Get Audio - Sound From Speakers

Jun 9, 2010

I've dedicated most of today attempting to get some sound out of my Debian Lenny installation and I'm getting nowhere. I've tried a varity of potential solutions and still no peep from the machine. I'm using ALSA (and ran the 'alsaconf' utility with no errors and then used 'alsamixer' confirming that the volumne is set and not muted) for sound playback but nothing works?!? Here's some of the output that may resonate to some people...

I've tried everything that I could find online and installed a variety of alsa related stuff, but at this stage my lack of experience (coming from a Windows background) is really beginning show. The only unexplored thing is that the device is not listed in the xorg.conf file, but there doesn't seem to be many mentions of this online and a possible red herring. The only other thing is that when running the 'alsaconf' utility it does show two cards installed on the system, these are: via82xx and legacy. I've always selected 'via82xx' as the other options prompts 'Probing legacy ISA cards might make your system unstable.' I'm plugging the speakers into the 'green' audio out socket.

Finally, when running videos on mplayer it does report that it is using alsa as the audio output option and it doesn't highlight are errors...Oh yeah - the speakers have been tested and do work.
