View 5 Replies View RelatedI've installed from the CD the Centos version 5.5. When I try to connect to Internet I can't because I received some errors. I've the Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) Ethernet Controller also a wireless slot (I've the wireless card DWL-G650+) When I turn on the pc and I go to "Ethernet Device", I see set: peth0 (Intel Corporation 82801CAM (ICH3) PRO/100 VE (LOM) ETHERNET CONTROLLER) and also set "Bind to MAC address": fe:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff I've set manually the IP address (I'm under router). Status is "Active" but can't go on the Net. When I change to "eth0 (Intel EtherExpress/100 driver)...sometimes become "Active" an other times said that the MAC address is different or to check the cable because can't find the IP. What can I do?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been dist hunting ever since I bought my new desktop in Sept 08. some live cd or even install cd work or don't-- but I have learned some workarounds i.e. pci=nomsi at boot for example. Problem I have now is I have wired DSL (modem only) and need to manually connect. I can install tkpppoe running ./go-gui command but everytime I do I can send out packets but not ever recieving (correct me if I have this backwards). in other words activity is showing upload but not on downloads and can't ping either ip or domain or browse. been trying to find out what's going on I think it may have to do with the eth0 should not pull up an IP at boot which seems to be 192.147.x.x or like that according to ifconfig -a Otherwords, when I covert my modem to a router every is fine but manually connecting with PPPoE software that's another story. I would go with the router mode but the Westell model I currently have sucks with it's firewall. I usually go with a software based firewall. call me old skool lol. Need some advice.. I miss my journey with linux Even though I have Vista Premium solid as a rock--- I miss the special customizations only nix can provide and better security.

I am using the same modem in windows7 and have installed virtualbox where i have installed the same ubuntu9 but there it automatically detects the wired connection(usb)[eth0] but in the actual boot it doesnt detect anything. I have typed in the terminal sudo ppconfig but it was unable to find anything.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have 2 pcs at home. I dont have a switch so I can connect only one PC at a time to my adsl router/modem for internet access. In the past I had successfully connected the two PCs (NIC to NIC) to each other using the same ethernet cable which was supplied with my dlink adsl modem.
Recently the motherboard of on of my PC went bad so I replaced it with a new one. The problem is when I connect the two using the same Ethernet cable they won't connect. The lights on the Ethernet port won't light up. I can still connect both of them to the adsl router (NIC to Router) (one at a time).
My broadband internet connection came with a Nokia-Seimens C2110 Adsl modem. Please help me connect the modem through USB cable as the ethernet card is used to connect my computer(Asus- P5RD2 VM motherboard) to a different computer on LAN. I am in a fix and have no clue how to proceed.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use an atom based processor of 1.60 ghz on intel d945gclf board. My ram is a zion 1gb @ 533mhz. Hdd is from western digital 80gb @ 7200 rpm. I have a broadband(dsl) connection from bsnl dataone (a state owned telecom service provider). I connect to internet via a huawei wa1003a ethernet/usb/wireless modem which is provided by my service provider. I need a username and a password everytime i connect to internet via dial-up.
I was using windows xp service pack ii. It was nice and easy installing my modem on xp either via usb or ethernet. Both ways it was easy as i have both the drivers with me.Only and main problem was fighting viruses. I tried many free downloadable anti-virus software to protect my maching. Initially they were fine. But after few months they stopped taking regular updates and became non-functional. I also tried symantec corporate v.10. But it has its drawbacks also. It made my machine perform like a snail.I had previously heard about linux based operating systems. But never tried one. As i am an ameteur in using computers windows xp was suiting my needs. Recently i saw an article in the newspaper about ubuntu which is a free open source operating system. And most important to me it is virus free.But here is a problem also. I cannot connect to internet. My ubuntu 9.10 karmic koala is not identifying my modem and a network between my modem and my machine cannot be established. Also i cannot create a dial-up option where i can give username and password.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm using CENTOS 5.5 and I want to connect to internet using 2 pppoe accounts same ISP and i have a sigle NIC eth0.I used adsl-setup to create pppoe connections, 1 is ppp0 and second is ppp1. When i use /sbin/ifup ppp0 it works, i can use the internet, but when i try to use /sbin/ifup ppp1 while ppp0 is connected, nothing happens, i did ifconfig and there is only ppp0 showing.I'm a BIG NEWBIE of linux, i need to know step by step how to make this work, i heard something about a virtual network... but nothing clear.

However I can SSH CentOS machine and portforwarded 8080 and 82 for web access, I can't access via any of the port, browsers says UNABLE TO CONNECT.. there is no firewall in CentOS machine.

I entered my IP address, Netmask, and DNS Servers into the network, not using DHCP. This was how I was able to achieve a network connection.
I am connected to the modem, but I cannot get internet.

I'm trying to connect with my server via telnet, but when i sent the command (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Port) doesn't works and shows then follow error: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused, It happens with any port. Is strange but my telnet services works (telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), In addition, i tried with firewall enabled and disabled and the problem still happens. My centOS run on virtualbox.

I have a server at home that im migrating over to be the default-gateway/router. I have everything else setup (dns,dhcp etc) now just need the ppoe part, or so i beleive?
I have two interfaces. eth0 (lan) and eth1 ready to connect to the modem.
The modem is in bridge mode ready to go.
What is my next step? Are there any good guides, I didn't find any.
My router/adsl modem is not connected to a power supply so when power goes and comes the network will do a re-boot. Now the problem is my OpenSUSE network won't come back on! I set the static ip as Autoeth0 to eth0 however when network updates I losse eth0. Why is this happening? Why doesn't the PC simply re-connect? Can I do it via command line?

Internet --- NIC1 [CentOS Box] NIC2 --- Switch to other PCs
We have a BUNCH of exposed services that are on special ports -- for example, to connect to one machine, you go in with [IP_Address]:12000, and to connect to another, [IP_Address]:12002, etc., etc. We're currently using OpenSuse 10.3 on this box, and YaST makes this criminally easy (you give it the incoming port number and the destination IP/port numbers and it just works). But OpenSuse 10.3 is nearing EOL, we're buying a new machine, and I'd like to use CentOS on the new one.
I've read the sparse Webmin documentation in their Wiki, and it leads one to believe that you simply insert a "NAT" rule. But there's obviously something they're leaving out. I *am* opening the ports in the firewall. But when I log in to [IP_Address]:port, it just times out. The port forwarding never occurs. The test in this case is SSH, and I know that SSHD is working properly because I can log into that machine just fine from another PC on the same internal subnet.
i am not able to port 8080 on my CentOS VPS server.I have followed all the instuctions as mentioned on iptables wiki page.Also I am able to telnet my ip address and port number, But can not access from browser.
