Ubuntu :: Have To Install All Libs Required For PCSX2 Within Chroot Itself?
Nov 6, 2010
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64bit and I have succesfully installed 10.10 32bit as a chroot using URL...I'm able to go into the chroot shell and it works perfectlyI want to run PCSX2. I have it downloaded in my personal Downloads folder but how to I access it from a chroot? also will I have to install all the libs required for PCSX2 within the chroot itself?
I am trying to install gnome-libs package as prereq to install Oracle 10.2 on Red Hat 5. It requires libpng.so.2 while I have libpng.so.3 installed on my system. I tried to do a link: ln -s /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 /usr/lib/libpng.so.2, then run /sbin/ldconfig and rebbot as well but it continues to ask for this library.
Trying to build the required libs for synCE, www.synce.org, as listed in their web site under building from sources. Came upon a snag, on building the odccm library which needs gnet-2. I loaded gnet-2 from my distribution DVD, and then did an #ldconfig afterwards, but it still says that it needs gnet-2. Not sure why it can't see it. I tried to build gnet-2 from source, but had a difficult time finding it as it is deprecated and Gnome only had the latest build which did not build (errors).
From configure script for odccm-0.11: no package 'gnet-2.0' found. Part of configure script is below.
Code: if test -n "$PKG_CONFIG"; then if test -n "$GNET_CFLAGS"; then pkg_cv_GNET_CFLAGS="$GNET_CFLAGS" else if test -n "$PKG_CONFIG" &&
I'm trying to install pcsx2 emulator and one of dependencies is libgtk2.0-dev.I think I tried everything but synaptic and terminal are still giving me this
Code: libgtk2.0-dev: Depends: libgtk2.0-0 (=2.18.3-1) but 2.18.3-1ubuntu2 is to be installed.I really don't understand what is this about.
recently we decided to make our own panel (like Plesk or cPanel) but for Ubuntu and it will be licenced under GPL (like any other professional sofware).want to make a panel not only that fits our needs but also the needs of other system administrators and domain owners. We researched other panels and found out that non of them has security/look/ease of use in one package. Bad codig is another problem found in other panels.I made a short overwiev of what I think we have to have in the beginning.I Security :1. Completely chroot enviornoment where every single service is in chroot mode (bind, mysql, postfix, .... )2. Easily managed IPtables trough web-based interface. 3. Coding rules has to be strict.
II Software selection : 1. MTA - Postfix 2. POP - dovecot
I need some PHP libs that don't come with the standard install - I assume that means I'll have to build PHP from source. Can I use a package manager to download the source? How? If I do, will it have the code for all the libraries? Are there specific instructions for building and installing on ubuntu?
I'm trying to install OpenDX(dx)-4.2.0, a scientific graphics visualization tool on Suse Linux 10.1 . But its giving following error:

To resolve this error, I tried to install Mesa OpenGL libraries (mesa-7.5.2). But its not getting installed even after resolving dependencies such as libdrm, dri2proto, libpthread-stubs.
Are there any rpm distributions available for mesa libraries on Suse?
I'm in the process of installing the latest version of Crunchbang linux on a 64-bit laptop. I would like to run some 32-bit programs, but when I try to install ia32-libs using 'apt-get install ia32-libs', I get the following error messages:
Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming.

Today i download cheops source code and when i type ./configure returns me this error :
Quote: checking for gnome-config... no checking for gnomeConf.sh file in /usr/local/lib... not found configure: error: Could not find the gnomeConf.sh file that is generated by gnome-libs install Is there any way to install cheops in KDE ? Do you know any solution for this problem ?
I`m running openSUSE Tumbleweed so the first question is: can i run ONLY another openSUSE OS inside the environment ? or can i run any distro i want ?
My second question is how do it set up the environment to act just like my normal OS, with both root and user rights on it? and of course can i run X ?
And finally third question: after googling a bit i did not found a tutorial for openSUSE but i have seen that is says that i have mount and/or bind certain things, how do i make the same thing under openSUSE for the respective chroot environment?
I have installed chroot in Ubuntu 10.4. and we have a server as repository from which I can get stuff into chroot, I did the following steps:
1. apt-get update ok 2. apt-get dist-upgrade ok 3. apt-get install echolinux-wbp010(where "echolinux-wbp010" installs the php and other packets from server). In this command I receive the following error:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
echolinux-wbp010 : Depends: config-system but it is not going to be installed Depends: echogwtplayer but it is not going to be installed Depends: echonf-pro but it is not going to be installed Depends: xserver-xorg-input-kbd but it is not going to be installed Depends: xserver-xorg-input-mouse but it is not going to be installed Depends: xserver-xorg-video-nvidia-190 but it is not installable
I'm trying to get it so that for a particular user, at login, they are chrooted to a specific directory. I've set up the directory and everything such that I think it should work. I wrote a new login shell that chroots the user and set it to be the login shell for that user in yast. Everything works great, except that when the user logs in, it asks for two passwords : the user's password, and then the root password (because chrooting requires su privileges). Is there a way around this? This is what my login shell looks like:
I downloaded the 6.06 version of xubuntu because i have a laptop that doesnt support high graphics mode, and i wasnt able to figure out how to get it to run in low graphics mode. i figured that i would get a version from a while back, and then update it up to the current version. now, to the problem. I was able to upgrade 6.10, but now it says Ubuntu version 8.04 available, so i tried to update it. it gets most of the way through the part where it says calculating or something like that, and then it says: "Can't install 'xubuntu-desktop' It was impossible to install a required package. Please report this as a bug." with an option that says close at the bottom. when i click close another window pops up that says: Could not calculate the upgrade A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade. This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu * Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu * Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu
If none of this applies, then please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport. Then the window just closes... anything that i could do to get rid of this problem? EDIT: Is there any way to update directly from an .iso file on the desktop?
I'm trying to install a custom-compiled version of PHP 5.2.12 on a RHEL 5 server. Since I'd like to do this repeatedly on other servers, I have built custom PHP RPMs that can be deployed to other machines. (I edited the spec file to include all the relevant configure flags when compiling the PHP packages.) The compilation succeeds without error, and all the RPMs are built correctly.
And yet, even though it is there, and ldconfig says it's there, rpm isn't finding it! I'm at a loss to understand why. Just to see what would happen, I tried copying libclntsh.so.10.1 to /usr/lib64. rpm can't find it there either! So what is it about this shared library file that is wrong?
I have a government website hosted in third party hosting. but now they want to setup their own Ubuntu server. Now my Question is -
1. What hardware do I need? like - A) SERVER B) KVM Switch etc etc.. really i don't know how many hardware need to setup a server. Please provide me a list.
2. Does the standard Ubuntu Server installation DVD contains all the required software for Linux web hosting ?
The hardware part is very important. What's more hardware need to set up a server.
I have one doubt regarding minimum partition required to install linux O/S to the best of my knowledge, "/", "swap" & "/boot" are the essential partitions required for installing Linux, but i think linux should also work without "swap". please suggest or correct me if I am wrong
I am about to install some software on Red Hat Linux. I can understand all the instructions apart from the first. It says Log on to the UNIX system with the privileges required to install software. You can create an account specifically for this purpose. Caution: Do not install as root. What does this mean exactly?
I am trying to install a specific version of JRE which is required by a program called Glucofacts. this is a diabetes program which is used for recording blood sugar readings on a computer. would someone care to give me some advice on the below error?
larry@ubuntu:~$ sudo apt-get install jre 1.6.0_07 [sudo] password for larry: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done
I would like to try out fc10 on an old, k6-2 pc. Last night I tried to download the dvd, but firefox 'completed' the download with only 1.2/~3xg, and of course it didn't work.
I am trying a test net installation in VirtualBox, so far so good.
However, I would rather have a more complete installation on hand and I'm looking at the full install cd's --there are 6 of them.
[url]
Are all 6 required for a minimal install, or could I get by with one (or two, etc)? For example, with debian installation cds you can use just the first one -- the rest are just a complete set of packages for everything +kitchen sink.
I've added a couple of extra repos in my x86_64 Fedora 11 KDE installation.Namely, skype and rpmfusion and no rawhide stuff.I've asked then to install skype (Skype 2.0.0.72).While I was expecting a lot of packages because skype has decided not to support 64bit environments, I have found some very weird packages within the 79 item list.
Today, shortly after booting my OpenSUSE 11.3 I got this popup. [URL]. I guess it was caused by the Updater Applet when checking the repos for new updates. But what does it mean? Why do I get this now and not when adding the repo. It seems to belong to the filesystems repo and I have indeed added that some time ago (in order to install davfs2). I'm not sure what it means to accept a signature.
Normally with public key infrastructure, you need to accept other's public keys or certificates containing their public keys. And before doing so you need to verify the fingerprint, otherwise the whole procedure is useless, because it might be a fake certificate / man in the middle talking to you. Once you have accepted (trusted) the public key (or a certificate containing it), the system will check signatures for you.
So the question "do you want accept this signature" sounds weird to me. In openSUSE repos I have come across fingerprints many times before. But whenever I have searched google in order to verify the fingerprint I have not received any useful hit. I would have expected that valid keys and their fingerprints are listed on some web site. It appears there are three instances of package signing keys ... but there has not been any answer.
I will be installing Natty using the alternative CD.My system has a separate Home partition.Do I need to erase the contents of the Root and Home partition with gparted or similar, prior to the fresh installation of Natty or will the installer take care of all that automatically?
I am trying desperatly to install boxee onto my pc Boxee - Watch Movies, TV Shows and clips from the Internet on your TV.without success.I have downloaded the source code from the site and have ran
./bootstrap ./configure
The ./configure last few lines = checking for boost/shared_ptr.hpp... yes checking for main in -lGL... no configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the README for your platform.
I'm not sure what this lGL is referring to. The readme states that I need the below to run the configure, though that doesn't say lGL either?
OpenSUSE 11.2 installation DVD has many many applications that are installed by default. How can I install just the minimum for a working system. As an excercise I am trying to build a Nas system which I can install into our Windows Active Directory at work and have user access controlled via an Active Directory user group. I have no need therefore for so many of the applications available. I have tried uninstalling some applications and have managed to remove some features that I infact needed to keep.just a minor thing like the Gnome interface (gee!). Is there a list available of core applications required to function etc. that would help me to streamline my build?
