Can I connect an Iphone to Ubuntu and brows files on it out of box? Or do I need any program for that.. Now I mean axessing files from the memory/mem-card not the phone itself..

I don't really want to use Virtualbox with Win installed into it and thereafter Itunes.I don't need or want to sync anything - just move the odd files around.I installed ifuse but all I can see is the DCIM i.e picture folder when I connect it to the desktop.Right now I have to email the file to the iphone and save it like that but this is just a workaround

I have 2 machines both using U 11.04, one of them being Studio. I have tried to connect them together (via a modem/router of course) to browse files but I can't connect. I get error messages. I've installed samba and everything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDecided to migrate my laptop entirely to ubuntu 9.10 karmic, Everything has gone well.Managed to sort my home network out and also setup a remote desktop connection to home server running windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.I am having a complete nightmare with my iphone, I can plug it in and I get a camera icon on my desktop and the picture directory is mounted.I cannot connect it to GTKPod.I have tried searching for the usb rules in /etc/fstab/ but I am confused as to wether its reading it or my usb?dmesg produces this?

With Lucid Lynx, connecting is now a sintch. Obviously someone had the great idea of making another iPhone, thus making me spend more money. Question is: anyone have any problems connecting to Lucid with their new iPhone 4? I'd like to know about technical problems, if there are any, or good experiences in bringing music or (insert other functionality here) from Ubuntu into the iPhone.

When I connect via usb I can open a file browser window and see the folders on the iPhone but not the files. Also the system suggests using the photo manager and banshee to view the files but when I open them I still can't see the files. Everything installed as expected but I am having some wireless issues I was hoping somebody could assist me with. I am able to connect to my network via wireless with no issues. However, when I attempt to browse the internet it will not connect to any pages. Obviously when I connect it via CAT 5 all works as expected. Any ideas on how to solve my wireless issues?

It is connecting but I cant seem to view folders or start a RDP session. I have tried this out with a Windows and a Linux machine and both work. The Linux machine was running Mint 10, in the vpn configuration I had set the gateway, user and pass, then in advanced mschap and mschapv2 were selected as well as mppe, allow bsd, allow deflate, and use tcp header. These settings work fine with Mint but its not working for me using Ubuntu. I did try to ping, sometimes it works sometimes it wont.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running samba 3.5.8-74 on Fedora 14. I can connect to it from several Windoze XP machines by typing the ip address or searching for the computer name. However, when browsing the workgroup from XP, the share does not show up. I also can not see the share from my new WD TV Live Plus. I suspect the two problems are related.
I have disabled my firewall to insure that it is not in the way, but no change. I have set up samba users to match my XP users, and numerous other attempts at modifying smb.conf to get it to work, but to no avail.

This is on Lucid, using a Dell Mini. I installed the required packages for a USB tether to my iPhone. Network Manager recognized it immediately as wwan0, but it doesn't connect. Also, it never asks me for the password to connect to the Personal Hotspot (as it does when I can connect from Windows).

Currently setup instructions are only posted for windows/mac using a helper app to configure the laptop. Here are the instructions I followed to setup iphonemodem2 to work under Fedora 10: Download iPhoneModem2 from a jailbroken iphone using Cydia. Create a new wireless network on Fedora with the following settings:
a) SSID = "iPhoneModem"
b) Mode = Ad-hoc
c) IPv4 Method = Automatic (DHCP)
Connect laptop and iphone to new wireless network. Start iphonemodem app on iphone. The "traffic" does not update; the "status" says "Wrong Wifi Network"; and the signal strength says 0%. However, the network connection should be there as long as you have a data signal to your service provider.

I have ran into a permissions problem. It seems that any file I have created with Fedora I can browse to in Firefox. I cannot browse to files that I have downloaded from the internet or copied locally across our network. I changed file permissions to 755 and 777 for these files. I even thought that maybe it was the php file content that was causing the issue. So, I copied the file content from file 2 into file 1. File 1 was the file I could always browse to since I created it in Fedora. I could still browse to file 1 after it had file 2's content.
I look at the permissions and they appear the same for both files. I am not sure why I cannot open the other files. I downloaded phpMyAdmin. I cannot hit any of these files in a browser. I also copied some files from a a backup location we have internally. I cannot browse to any of these files either. I used chmod 777 filename. Even after doing that I could not hit any of the files. I moved the files into my document root directory ( /var/www/html ) and I still cannot browse to these files.
i had got an external USB modem, infact any indian would know that Reliance has this Net Connect which they give by which we can surf through the net. Although fedora is detecting this i dont know as to how i can browse the net using this since all the files are in .exe format which is only compatible with windows.
