Code:
[ 960.692439] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 2
[ 3402.628071] usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3

I have been working to access my iPhone from Ubuntu. I can upload music to it with Rhythmbox, and I can access it with Gtkpod as well (after a "ifuse /mnt/iphone").
I used handbrake to convert an avi movie to a m4v format (just used the default format for iPhone). However... I can't upload it. I tried to simply open it in Gtkpod (add file), and it appears in the list with the mp3, but then nothing...
When I click "Save changes", it is stuck. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to see what Gtkpod is chocking on? Otherwise I will have to look at file browser apps.

Is it possible to link a folder to GTKpod so that it can automatically update the changes to iPhone that are made to files or folders like tag changes or adding or deleting files?

I found a script online to mount the iphone with gtkpod iPod manager but still could not mount the iPhone as it said certain files weren't in my media file. Anyway laptop was perfect last night when I closed down.
Started up today with the message "the disk drive for /media/iPod is not ready yet or not present" and gives me the options: continue to wait - which does Nothing, press s to skip mounting which you hear the drums and then crashes or m for manual recovery- not sure what to do when I get here.

ive spent days figuring out how to sync my iphone 3gs firmware 3.1.3 in ubuntu 10.04. my laptop can detect my iphone, i can actually browse its folder. (i can see photos and music from my phone, i tried to paste some photos in a certain folder and went well, just in ONE folder).
i tried almost all instructions i can find on net, but nothing is working well. i even freshly installed my ubuntu, thinking that i did something wrong in my first attempt. still cant sync music and photos.
i transferred songs already to my phone using itunes in windows (on another laptop). they said that doing this can initialize my iphone, but it didnt work.

With Lucid Lynx, connecting is now a sintch. Obviously someone had the great idea of making another iPhone, thus making me spend more money. Question is: anyone have any problems connecting to Lucid with their new iPhone 4? I'd like to know about technical problems, if there are any, or good experiences in bringing music or (insert other functionality here) from Ubuntu into the iPhone.

I'm having some trouble using my iPhone 3Gs with Ubuntu--specifically, Ubuntu doesn't seem to be detecting when I connect the phone at all. I don't have a password on the phone, so that shouldn't be causing the problem, and a friend of mine who also uses Ubuntu (same version) has been able to connect my phone to his computer.

I've just come back to Linux running Ubuntu 11.04 and need to find an app to manage files on an iPhone 4. When I connect via usb I can open a file browser window and see the folders on the iPhone but not the files. Also the system suggests using the photo manager and banshee to view the files but when I open them I still can't see the files. Can anyone recommend an app to open, view and manage files on an iPhone?

This is on Lucid, using a Dell Mini. I installed the required packages for a USB tether to my iPhone. Network Manager recognized it immediately as wwan0, but it doesn't connect. Also, it never asks me for the password to connect to the Personal Hotspot (as it does when I can connect from Windows).

This will allow you to use iphones' data plan as a wireless access point. Currently setup instructions are only posted for windows/mac using a helper app to configure the laptop. Here are the instructions I followed to setup iphonemodem2 to work under Fedora 10: Download iPhoneModem2 from a jailbroken iphone using Cydia. Create a new wireless network on Fedora with the following settings:
a) SSID = "iPhoneModem"
b) Mode = Ad-hoc
c) IPv4 Method = Automatic (DHCP)
Connect laptop and iphone to new wireless network. Start iphonemodem app on iphone. The "traffic" does not update; the "status" says "Wrong Wifi Network"; and the signal strength says 0%. However, the network connection should be there as long as you have a data signal to your service provider.

across this problem when the changes I was making (such as adding lyrics, cover art, etc) weren't being saved to either my computer or my iPod. I figured out that the problem was the there was no PC file location. When I tried to add my Music folder (all files are .ogg), it gave me an error saying that all the files were incompatible. Any information on how to fix this would be amazing.Note: I can still sync through Banshee, so it's not a immediate problem. However, I can't add lyrics since Banshee doesn't support that, so I would like to get this fixed.

I am using 9.10 Karmic Koala Oct 2009 release. Gtkpod does not show my ipod touch, and I can not mount the ipod. I realise there were problems with the ipod touch syncing/mounting but gtkpod has the touch option, and I have all the files from synaptic for using an ipod touch. When I run gtkpod its just blank, no music files show up. If I click load ipod I get the error:

I'm trying to understand how gtkpod syncs my local library with my ipod.I've got two repositories. One for my ipod, the other for my local library.what's the procedure to sync them?I know you can drag and drop folders and tracks but I suppose there's a simpler way to sync all my music just doing "something" between my two repositories.

I noted in another post that gtkpod was suggested for audio book use. I had a look at the documentation but it did not give any clear indication of this.
Using iTunes it is possible to link all the tracks on 1 CD which makes for uninterupted listening and will also offer the facility to stop and re-start the book from where I left off. Is this available using gtkpod?
My laptop is purely a Linux setup. I am told that I would have to change the BIOS settings which is well beyond my capabilities. As I particularly wish to keep my system pure I need to find the best possible way to work with audio books rather than to capitulate to Microsoft or Apple.

I just installed gtkpod in order to access my ipod through fedora. The problem I face is that sometimes gtkpod detects the ipod and works fine. But sometimes it doesn't detect it at all. And in spite of clicking lots of times on Load iPod(s) button, it doesn't load the iPod. How can I get this working?

I've been trying to get an iPod nano 5th generation working with slackware-current, with no luck. Currently, I have upgraded to gtkpod 1.0.0 and libgpod 0.8.0. I've run iPod-read-sysinfo-extended successfully, which wrote the SysInfoExtended file in /<ipod_root>/iPod_Control/Device.
After those steps, gtkpod would copy the mp3's to the device, but would fail writing the database. So, I generated the HashInfo file from the firewire guid using the tool at [URL]. After that, gtkpod finishes writing the database to the device, and shows all the music which is present, but after ejecting the iPod, no music shows up.
