View 2 Replies View RelatedTo Ubuntu after switching from Windows Vista. So far I really like it. I am trying to convert music in wma format that I purchased on Zune to mp3 format so that I can play it in Rhythm Box and use it on a SanDisk Fuze that I recently purchased. I installed Sound Convert. Sound Convert works fine when converting wma files that were created from ripping CD's. However, it freezes when trying to convert wma files that were purchased from Zune. Also if I try to double click on one of the wma files to play it with movie player, I get an error message saying that the file is encrypted and decryption is not supported.
I did find a converter on Windows that works. However, it was a trial version that only converts 90 secs. The full version costs $25. I do not feel that I should have to pay for music that I have already paid for. The music was purchased a la carte from Zune (not with the monthly pass). Does anyone know of a workaround to free my Zune music so I can access it on Ubuntu?
I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 64bit and have Virtualbox (not OSE)with Windows 7 64bit installed. I am unable to get my Zune 80 to sync with the Zune software as an error comes up when I plug in my Zune saying that the device driver was not properly installed. I have tried reinstalling the Zune software and that didn't help either
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere are many Zune threads - all stating that zune won't work with ubuntu - so I get that. But I am curious... Why can I mount the zune player and see the files on the zune - and then when I try to add to the zune or remove them get an error message. Ubuntu can see what is on the Zune, so why can't it copy/erase the files?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter 10 minutes of trying to mount my zune, I finally got it, only to open rhythem box to find that I can't view the music on it, or write new music to it. (It does have music on it, nearly 30 gigs of music, its also assigned to my windows computer that I dont use anymore). Sorry for the file being a jpe, but the fedora forums seem to hate high resolution, full desktop, PNG screenshots, so I edited it down and made it a jpe.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have virtualbox installed under ubuntu 8.04 x64. The kernel got updated and since then I have to reboot the computer and choose previous kernel to use virtualbox. The reason is that I can't get a hold of the virtualbox module for 2.6.24-28 generic. When the kernel has been updated in the past I would just go into synaptic and select it, but this time it doesn't show and I've waited a while now... Tried searching for the package to no avail.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust updated wheezy 2.6.35-2-amd64 from to 2.6.38-2-amd64 and noticed that virtualbox-3.2 stopped working.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Fedora 12 on an Intel Core 2 Duo system.
I ran a software update which installed a new kernel (2.6.32.23-170.fc12.i686.PAE) along with many other things.
I am now unable to run VirtualBox which I had installed and running successfully before the update.
I tried removing and reinstalling VirtualBox from YUMEX, and rebooting. This did not help.
When I launch VirtualBox from a terminal, it produces the following output:
VirtualBox: supR3HardenedMainGetTrustedMain: dlopen("/usr/lib/virtualbox/VirtualBox.so",) failed: VBoxVMM.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I'm not sure what it is complaining about. The files VirtualBox.so and VBoxVMM.so both exist in the /usr/lib/virtualbox directory.
What can be done to get VirtualBox working again on this system?
I was trying to install VirtualBox through the YaST > Software Management but it is not working, someone in the forum told me that I have to download the OSE version and do it manual way. Finally I am able to start up VB but not able to use the network connection. Thus I am trying to do this:
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup. I get this error:
[code]...
When I type dmesg, it shows me a bunch of info which I don't know what should look for. When I type modprobe vboxnetflt, I get the error: FATAL: Error inserting vboxnetflt (/lib/modules/2.6.37.1-1.2-default/updates/vboxnetflt.ko): Invalid module format. what should I do in order to get my VB to be able to connect to the internet?
recently i updated to a kernel version 2.6.31-22-generic and now I cannot start my virtual machines from virtualbox-ose.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn the about last 2 weeks is available an update for VirtualBox OSE, but it fail every time. The final error is "transaction empty" on the gui of the updater.Trying to solve I put the commands suggested by yum (--skip-broken and rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest) with no luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to update VirtualBox but I'm getting a few problems:
1. When I go into YAST, it doesn't show any other versions available (just 3.0.x)
2. When I download the rpm from the website, I keep getting some insanely long error that says something about NOKEY perhaps? (It's a long error that gets cut off by the screen height)
On a Xp host I installed last version of VirtualBox and I created a 9.10 Ubuntu 'guest'.While I can surf the net, I cant 'sudo apt-get update' nor do a 'reload' from 'Synaptic Package Manager'.

Just installed 10.10 under Oracle VM VirtualBox and then installed VBOX additions to clear up monitor issues. Mozilla Firefox works and so does Evolution mail client (needs work though). Everything seems to work EXCEPT Update Manager.I consistently get Failure message: "Failed to download package files".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am using VirtualBox and I installed the Guest additions successfully. Host F does not work as it is not the problem. The resolution under monitor is 800x600. I had the same problem in Fedora where I modified the xorg.conf however Ubuntu does not have the file located in /etc/X11/...
I tried adding it with the same xorg.conf from my Fedora Virtual machine but that screwed up my display and had to fix it from the terminal.
Not sure why Ubuntu 10 doesn't have an xorg.conf or how to fix the display if not from xorg.conf?
Running Ubuntu 10.10 within virtualbox on ubuntu 9.10. Noticed an odd item that was once an peculiar and has now become an annoyance. If I leave my computer for, say 5 minutes, and I bring virtualbox back up, i am presented with a login screen. However, i can't login as my keyboard does not work. Mouse works fine. Can't login, so I have to close out.
I looked at my power management settings within 10.10 and everything is off. no power saving. Ubuntu 9.10 has power management, but these do not appear to affect virtualbox. I have a 15 minute monitor turnoff, with disks running until 2 hours. If I leave for 5 minutes, monitor is on, but Ubuntu 10.10 within virtualbox wants a login.
I am running 11.04 with a dual boot of vista. I am also running virtualbox (downloaded from oracles site) I installed the extension pack from their website, I have added a new filter and I am in the user group but still virtualbox will not see the usb ports or the device plugged in. The reason for running virtualbox is if I can get the usb to work, I will then remove vista completely from my system and just virtualbox for the only two programmes that do not work in Ubuntu.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently applied a bunch of updates to my guest OS (Ubuntu) inside VirtualBox (NOTE: NOT updates to virtual box. Updates to the OS) and now on startup, I get the error:
"An error occurred while mounting /media/share. Press S to skip mounting or M for manual recovery"
I tried a fix which said to comment out the mounting in /etc/fstab and instead put it into rc.local, but this does not work.
Also, when I press "M" to try it manually and type:
mount.vboxsf -w mysharedfolder /media/share
I get the error:
mount.vboxsf: mounting failed with the error: No such device
But before I updated Ubuntu, that shared folder worked perfectly!
i always run updates if i get prompted about it... this time i ran a couple or so updates and software updates and restarted, i realise my VirtualBox and Wine isn't running at all... i click on the icons but nothing fires up.. all my programs on Wine seem to fall under the same issue...
how do i view all the latest updates i just installed?
Trying to start a running installation of virtualbox I get:
And it seems that it doesn't work with the new 275 build I got pushed when updating. Updating virtualbox didn't help. Besides uninstalling the 275 version of nvidia and installing the 270.
I use Arch Linux and the kernel got upgraded, and it broke VirtualBox. It says to run "/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup", but such a file does not exist. The Arch Wiki says "/etc/rc.d/rc.vboxdrv setup", but that doesn't exist either. What should I do?
And is it possible to write a script that runs on startup that automatically fixes VirtualBox whenever the kernel is upgraded?
I am trying to set up Vista on my Lucid within VirtualBox so I can run 3CX IP PBX. I have installed the virtualBox and set up a virtual space called "Vista", but when I start it (Power on) I get an error message - see screenshot enclosed. If I run the command

as instructed in terminal I get.
