Ubuntu Multimedia :: Zune Won't Work - Can't Copy / Erase The Files?

Aug 22, 2010

There are many Zune threads - all stating that zune won't work with ubuntu - so I get that. But I am curious... Why can I mount the zune player and see the files on the zune - and then when I try to add to the zune or remove them get an error message. Ubuntu can see what is on the Zune, so why can't it copy/erase the files?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Converting Zune Wma To Mp3 ?

Jul 11, 2010

To Ubuntu after switching from Windows Vista. So far I really like it. I am trying to convert music in wma format that I purchased on Zune to mp3 format so that I can play it in Rhythm Box and use it on a SanDisk Fuze that I recently purchased. I installed Sound Convert. Sound Convert works fine when converting wma files that were created from ripping CD's. However, it freezes when trying to convert wma files that were purchased from Zune. Also if I try to double click on one of the wma files to play it with movie player, I get an error message saying that the file is encrypted and decryption is not supported.

I did find a converter on Windows that works. However, it was a trial version that only converts 90 secs. The full version costs $25. I do not feel that I should have to pay for music that I have already paid for. The music was purchased a la carte from Zune (not with the monthly pass). Does anyone know of a workaround to free my Zune music so I can access it on Ubuntu?

Fedora Hardware :: Zune Not Able To Read / Write Music

Jun 30, 2010

After 10 minutes of trying to mount my zune, I finally got it, only to open rhythem box to find that I can't view the music on it, or write new music to it. (It does have music on it, nearly 30 gigs of music, its also assigned to my windows computer that I dont use anymore). Sorry for the file being a jpe, but the fedora forums seem to hate high resolution, full desktop, PNG screenshots, so I edited it down and made it a jpe.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Skype - Pulseaudio - Sound Output Or Input Does Not Work At All Doesn't Work

Sep 11, 2010

When I installed my 64 bit system of Ubuntu 10.04 the sound worked very well and I were very happy. The problem started however when I installed Skype which uses pulseaudio. As soon as I start skype (or any other application that uses pulse, HoN for example) the applications sound output or input does not work at all. If I have pulseaudio started in some way, applications that I suppose do not use it like spotify or flash player stops to produce sounds. And when I type "pulseaudio" in the terminal it gives me this:

I can't get flash controls to work. If the video auto-plays, it starts just fine, if not, I'm out of luck. I've tried reinstalling flash through the software center. Even if it autoplays, I can't control volume or pause or anything. I'm at the mercy of whatever is already there.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Getting DVD's To Work On 8.04?

Nov 11, 2010

I have an older computer running Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS. I installed Ubuntu-restricted-extras and that seemed to get audio support working well. But how to get DVD support working?

I used the "sudo apt-get install libdvdread4" command which I use to get DVD support working in 10.xx but it returned with "E: Couldn't find package libdvdread4". I'm guessing there is a different way to do this in 8.04?

When i was testing it (before i put it inside) i checked many times when green light blinks on touch - i belive there is everything all right. Ubuntu Multimedia :: Can't Get Microphone To Work On 10.04

May 3, 2010

I can't seem to get my microphone to work on Ubuntu 10.04. I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE PCI sound card. [URL]... Sound card is recognized by System/Preferences/Sound/Hardware as CA0106 Sound Blaster 1 Output / 1 Input Analog Stereo Duplex And sound output works 100% perfectly. I Google'd for hours and did not see anything to fix my microphone. My computer has front headphone and microphone ports and the front headphone port works fine but microphone does not. Also I tried plugging microphone into all the ports on the back into sound card but none worked. Also, I ran alsamixer from terminal and maxed out all volume settings. I wish to get the microphone working so I can play Counter Strike Source with Wine. I am willing to buy another sound card if someone can point out a replacement.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Can't Get Optical Out To Work On 10.04?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: HDE Webcam Won't Work / Fix It?

May 12, 2010

I'm using Wubi to dual boot 9.10 off windows xp. I have been having very good luck figuring things out using this ubuntu forum, which I am more grateful for than any of you could ever imagine, But I have a webcam issue I just can't figure out. Heres my question. I just recently bought a VERY cheap usb webcam from a company named HDE. There doesn't seem to be a specific name or even model number for this webcam, but here is the web page of the webcam I bought, http://www.hdeshop.com/USB-3-LED-PC-...B0015TJNEY.htm The website only provides drivers for windows vista and windows xp, but I figured there might be a chance or possibility that I could force this webcam to work on ubuntu 9.10. I plugged in the webcam and it did show up in skype, but the picture is all green and there is a double of me.

Plus, the actual webcam device will not show up in skype, I can't select the webcam, but regardless it still shows a green double vision image when I test it or do a video call.Skype seems to be the only thing this webcam kind of works with, It will not work with Cheese though and doesn't show an image in gstreamer. I want to mention that when I go to Cheese Preferences there is a webcam device that appears and sayse "USB 2.0 Camera (/dev/video0)" but I can't select it. I'm not sure what to do about this or how to fix it? I've searched around the internet and read the ubuntu documentation on webcams but really haven't had any luck for my specific webcam. I would just like the webcam to be detected by ubuntu 9.10, to work properly in skype, and work in cheese so I can record video's.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Cannot Get Audacity To Work With Pod

Aug 10, 2010

I've been trying to learn how to record my guitar parts onto Audacity using my Pod XT.I've always used Audacity to do my audio recordings since its much more user friendly than Ardour and just as capable IMO.However, I cannot get Audacity to work with the Pod.I downloaded the "line6-usb-source" using apt-get.Ubuntu seems to recognize the Pod and get a signal just fine (when I go to "Sound Preferences" it allows me to select the Pod XT as input hardware and even shows an incoming signal). When I go to Audacity's preferences,it allows me to select the Pod as the "Recording Device", however when I go to record it gives me an error saying to check the Project Sample Rate.

Does the Pod not output at 44100 Hz?Is there a way to change the sample rate the Pod puts out?Is there another setting in Audacity I need to adjust?I do not want to wine or emulate anything.I feel I shouldn't have to use a specific audio recording software to use a piece of a hardware I paid good money for.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Getting GLX To Work On Geforce 220 Gt?

Oct 11, 2010

I recently bought a new geforce 220 gt and I'm using ubuntu 10.04 with the proprietary driver. I can't get access to the nvidia-glx program through nvidia-glx-185 because my card needs nvidia-glx-195 and the launchpad repo that supplied that deb has now removed it.
My question is would it just be easier to the the open source nouveau driver for nvidia so I can enabled 3d acceleration? Or will I probably run into the same problems trying to get glx working with that driver?
