Ubuntu Servers :: Unable To Setup VirtualBox 3.2.8 On Lucid

I am trying to set up Vista on my Lucid within VirtualBox so I can run 3CX IP PBX. I have installed the virtualBox and set up a virtual space called "Vista", but when I start it (Power on) I get an error message - see screenshot enclosed. If I run the command

HTML Code:

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as instructed in terminal I get.

HTML Code:

I'm trying to install 10.04 server into a virtual machine using virtualbox. When I start the virtual machine and try to install using the server ISO, I get the following error:

Ubuntu Servers :: Zarafa On Lucid - Setup Mailserver To Receive E-mail?

May 2, 2010

I hope someone can help me setting up receiving e-mail on my home server. Ubuntu Lucid and Zarafa from repository. Zarafa is running well. I can send e-mail via the relay smtp host from my ISP. But though the e-mail address should be correct I never see this e-mail appear in zarafa inbox. The e-mail reaches the server via an open 25 port forwarded to my server, but it seems postfix does not know how to handle it. Or is there something else going wrong here? Below are my settings. These are the settings I added or edited. the rest is Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) standard.

You are running tftpd as an on demand server i.e. it is only fired up when it is needed. Services run by xinetd are always run on demand. Have you actually tested if tftp on another system can access your PC i.e.

Code:

Ubuntu Servers :: Unable To Resolve Host URL - Domain Setup / Home Based Web Server

Jan 18, 2011

I have setup a home based web server to host a photo blog for myself and my friends. I will be running wordpress and possibly a phpbb3 forum. I'd like to open this to discuss server administration, server setup, and server maintenance. However, I have a pretty good start on all of those but serving a domain name to my static ip. Here my static ip is 24.10.202.144. I registered a domain through [URL]... It appears that I have the domain working to forward to my ip. However, I am still getting this output file from apache.

[code]...

I have tested the domain name across a few different computers on different ips. It works appropriately. I just want to make sure I have it set correctly on the (apache) server side of things. Then I can get more into Zone Editing etc.

Ubuntu Servers :: SSL Setup - Connection Error Unable To Make A Secure Connection To The Server

Feb 10, 2011

I am running an Ubuntu Server on a VirtualBox VM running on my windows machine. So I've created a self-signed certificate using the following tutorial: [URL]

From this tutorial I'm left with 3 files:
server.key
server.csr
server.crt

Then I found this very similar tutorial that has an extra bit on installing the certificates in apache: [URL] So I followed it's instructions which boil down to this:

[Code]...

So I'm thinking this should work now. However in Chrome I get: SSL connection error Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have. Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error. IE8 gives me a typical "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" Note that [URL] fails while [URL] works fine, so it's definitely something in my ssl setup I'm thinking.

Ubuntu :: How To Setup Ssh Server In Virtualbox

Feb 25, 2011

I wanted to setup an ssh server on my computer that I, along with some other people I know, could access from outside my home network. I didn't want to give others access to my computer (even if that access was limited), so I wanted to setup the server within a Virtualbox virtual machine.

STEP 1: Create the virtual machine.Create a vm with the distro of your choice. I won't explain how to do that here since there are TONS of guides online about how to do this.

STEP 2: Configure the host to send info to the vm.I found an article that explains why you have to do this and how to do it:URL...I can summarize the article by saying that the vm is hidden from other network computers by the host computer. Therefore, you have to configure the host to send information received on a particular port (any port you choose greater than or equal to 1024 as explained in the above link) to port 22 of the vm (port 22 is the default port for ssh).

Debian :: 6.0.2.1 Virtualbox Setup - No Internet Connectivity By Default?

Jul 9, 2011

I'm coming from CentOS background and it's first time using Debian and currently stuck with setting up a working Virtualbox Debian Guest installation

Problem 1: no internet connectivity by default, but internet works fine from within the virtualbox Debian Guest OS if i use debian's internet browser

Problem 2: only internal 10.0.2.15 ip works (NAT) while my 2nd host only adaptor doesn't work out of the box

With CentOS all i needed to do it get it all working was when creating new guest on Virtualbox is setup 2 NICs, first one is NAT and second one is host-only adaptor. After installation, i can connect to internet and also from host OS connect to guest CentOS via 192.168.56.101 ip. But with Debian 6.0.2.1 64bit i defined both NAT and host-only adaptors, and out the box, only 10.0.2.15 is defined.

Default /etc/network/interfaces
root@debian1:/etc/network# cat interfacesbackup.txt
# This file describes the network interfaces available on your system

Ubuntu :: Windows Licenses - Wipe The Disk, Install Lucid, And Run Windows In Virtualbox?

Sep 28, 2010

Background: I'm a 20+ year Mac user, switched four years ago to Linux.I have NO experience with Windows to speak of. Whenever I've gotten a new box, it's either been home-built or a Mac.Now I have a new Acer Aspire AS7551 laptop, and although I have not yet booted into Windows, it comes with a Windows 7 Home Premium license. I've been running it with Ubuntu 10.04 off a flash drive and everything works perfectly.

What I want to do: I want to wipe the disk, install Lucid, and run Windows in Virtualbox (for the sole purpose of watching some Netflix and learning a little bit about Windows 7). For the purpose of this question, please accept that I DO NOT want to dual boot. The problem: From what I can find, I can't use the "recovery discs" that came with my laptop to create a virtual machine. This is confusing, because it seems like I paid for a legitimate Windows license for use with this laptop.

Questions:

1. Would MS exchange my recovery discs for a regular install disc to go with my license code if I explained this to them?

2. If not, is there a source for Windows ISOs that I can safely use with my license? (I am aware that the legitimacy of that approach is questionable, but I am quite comfortable with the ethics since I paid for Windows 7, own the license, and only want to use it on the same computer.

3.If not,is there any way in heck I can use my recovery disc to create something Virtualbox can work with?

4. If not, how are all of you people getting your Windows virtual machines going??

(I have read that Acer is a major hassle to get a refund from for the "Windows tax" so I might as well be able to use it--this is MS' chance to win over a fan if only they will let me!)

Ubuntu Installation :: Lucid Upgrade Broke Monitor Setup?

May 2, 2010

Upon upgrading from Karmic to Lucid, Everything comes up, seemingly fine. Once logged in to the OS, my three monitors show the desktop wallpaper as well as all the icons on the desktop. A few programs that I have set to autostart do so.

However for some reason, I can only access one of the three monitors. (And not the one with the gnome-panel.) As soon as I drag my mouse from my third monitor onto the one next to it, I loose complete control of it, and it starts dancing all over the place. If I try to drag a window from one screen to the next (using Alt-Left CLick + drag and not moving the mouse onto the other monitor), the the app goes from one side of the working monitor to the other side (like it's wrapping around). Though I can see it on the other monitor for a little bit until I get it far enough for it to wrap.

Here is my xorg.conf:

Code:

Section "Files"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/X11/100dpi/:unscaled"
FontPath "/usr/share/fonts/X11/75dpi/:unscaled"

I tried adding it with the same xorg.conf from my Fedora Virtual machine but that screwed up my display and had to fix it from the terminal.

Ubuntu :: Virtualbox + Unable To Login After Inactivity

Dec 23, 2010

Running Ubuntu 10.10 within virtualbox on ubuntu 9.10. Noticed an odd item that was once an peculiar and has now become an annoyance. If I leave my computer for, say 5 minutes, and I bring virtualbox back up, i am presented with a login screen. However, i can't login as my keyboard does not work. Mouse works fine. Can't login, so I have to close out.

I looked at my power management settings within 10.10 and everything is off. no power saving. Ubuntu 9.10 has power management, but these do not appear to affect virtualbox. I have a 15 minute monitor turnoff, with disks running until 2 hours. If I leave for 5 minutes, monitor is on, but Ubuntu 10.10 within virtualbox wants a login.

The reason for running virtualbox is if I can get the usb to work, I will then remove vista completely from my system and just virtualbox for the only two programmes that do not work in Ubuntu.
