I have install it suse 11, and everything went well until the wireless thing is not working, my card is Broadcom BCM4318, I see my card on the network settings but I cannot configure the card, and also I cannot connect to a wireless network, can someone tell me what to do here, I am loosing my patient....
I added to my machine PC running debian and others, ubuntu, pc wireless card:,the same card I used it on other machine, it ran nice.On the other machine i have Ethernet Controller instead of Class ffff.I installed the divers firmware-ralink and other realtek and network-manager, but nothing.on other machine, that was enough to run it correctly.and ifconfig dosn't give wlan0,iwconfig did't give characteristic of wlan0.does this mean that the bios didn't recognize it as a network card

It works with W7, but Ubuntu doesn't detect my Network card .After some research on Internet, I suppose that it's a problem of drivers for this card.Here some parameters I could get :

I'm in serious need of some help. The network adapter on the motherboard of my main machine apparently failed about noon today. This machine serves as the firewall and router for my home office LAN, and so it has two network adapters, the second being a PCI card installed in the only PCI slot of the mobo. The mobo's adapter served the WAN while the PCI card serves the LAN.Since the mobo has only one PCI slot, none of the other PCI cards I have on hand could be used. Instead, I pulled an unused PCI-e dialup modem card from the machine, and bought a PCI express gigabit card to put in its place.
The problem is that the machine (running Hardy 8.04.4 LTS) does not recognize the new card at all. Running lspci shows only the old PCI card that serves the LAN. Similarly, running "sudo lshw" shows only the old PCI card together with a virtual adapter that's part of my VirtualBox installation on that system.I then dual-booted into Vista Home and attempted to install the new card there, using the CD that came with it. Vista detected the card and asked for the disk, but then was unable to find any drivers on the disk!The box says the card is from Star Tech, and the instruction sheet says its model is ST1000SPEX.If anyone can point me to the correct module to add to the startup list and/or remove from the blacklist, that may get me going again.
I have an Acer Laptop and I am trying to use Linux Redhat 5 on it but for some reason the NIC is not detected by Linux. It is a bit surprising to me that the same problem was seen in my desktop computer but after changing the NIC to a different slot the Linux OS detected the NIC and it is working fine but my laptop still has the same problem.
From troubleshooting point of view:
1. Installed Linux multiple times but it didn't work.
2. Tried to add the hardware (NIC) but it didn't work.
Note: The NIC was working fine when I first installed Linux but after sometime it didn't. The laptop is dual boot (Windows & Linux) when I boot via windows the NIC works fine but not with Linux.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Onboard Realtek ethernet card (eth0) it worked fine but suddenly it stopped working when i see in yast it shows hwinfo not found. when i use hwinfo --netcard it gives realtek card name thats all. I went to yast >lan> edit> hardware and tried to add r8169 module but it was not accepting. previously created ifcfg-eth0 file is available but its not getting up.when i say ifup eth0 it say interface not found. the same messg is also available in /var/log/boot.msg.

I installed a new copy of F13 this morning on my fairly new laptop.32 Bit Intel, 3GB Memory 120GB HDD. The problem I've got is that my Monitor/Graphics card is not getting detected and as a result I'm getting a horrible Resolution/Refresh rate. When I run

I am trying to make a d-link dwl-650+ pcmcia card work through ndiswrapper method following the direction at:[URl]... The first step there is to install the "kmod-ndiswrapper" via yum.
But, how would I just download this package to a usb drive so that I can transfer it to the laptop that needs wireless networking. Is there an option in yum where I can just download the package, not intstall, so that I can save it somewhere?

I have had some problems with a SATA DVD drive under installation of Slackware 12.2, [URL] So i tried 13.1 instead. But now the ethernet card is not working Its a VIA Rhine card, and it was recognized just fine under 12.2 The following command did nothing: Code: ifconfig eth0 up I am getting no errors. I have also tried using netconfig, no luck there either.

I followed one tutorial about creating an ad-hoc network and all looked good, until I actually wanted to connect (or to be more precise, my machine is a host for other computers). The wireless icon just loops endlessly, without connecting and eventually I get "Wireless network - disconnected" message.
So, the main issue here is - connecting! I just can't. Also if you know/have some good tutorial for ad-hoc,

The only user that can make the sound card work on a F10 x86_64 system is root. For non root users, I am not seeing any error messages when a app tries to use/access the sound card, just nothing plays. As I said, for root everything works as expected. I am sure this is a permission/setup issue, but I have no idea where to start.

It is up and running - the light flashes and lsusb identifies it correctly, so does iwconfig.
I can, however, not connect to the network, and I noticed the following errors on boot up.

I swited network cards because the card i was using wouldn'tlip, and the cable kept falling out. Now, the internet doesn't work. They're Both Dlink cards, but they might be diffrent models. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have just set up a server with Ubuntu Server edition 10.04. I installed it by plugging the harddrive into my main pc as the server doesn't have a cd drive. Now the drive is back in the server and the internet won't work. I have run lspci and lshw and neither show a lan or network card anywhere. ifconfig comes up with nothing related to eth0, and says the 'inet addr' is 127.0.0.1. My motherboard has an onboard Realtek 8101L LAN controller. Can't seem to find much with a google search
