OpenSUSE Wireless :: "iwlist Wlan0 Scan" Gives Back List Of Detected Wireless Networks

Mar 21, 2011

I have configured a wireless pcmcia card using ndiswrapper. I'm sure that works, as with the command "iwlist wlan0 scan" gives me back
the list of detected wireless networks. At this point I was wondering: is there a way to detect the new interface (wlan0) with network manager? Even after enabling the wifi card the network manager gnome applet always finds only eth0.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Card Dormant Until Wired Connection Detected?

Feb 2, 2011

I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome. Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Intel 3945abg Wireless Network Card Cannot Connect To Router Automatically

Apr 8, 2010

I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

Fedora Networking :: Wireless Network Card Being Detected But Not Being Allowed To Activate?

Mar 7, 2009

I have downloaded and installed Fedora 10.Now I am setting up the network and in the 'network configuration' it finds the wireless device (ralink) in the 'hardware' section of the configuration - I set this to eth0 (it originally set itself to wan0 and I still had the same problems, now it doesn't give me the option to put it back to wan0).Now I goto the devices tab and try to set up the device with eth0 - which it seems to find. But when I goto activate the device it tells me that eth0 cannot be found

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Cannot Scan Network With Belkin F5D7050

Dec 23, 2009

Cannot Connect to a wireless network using a USB Belkin 802.11g Model F5D7050: Setting up a new pc is running opensuse 11.2 (i586) KDE 4.3.1

Question1) The HCL shows a version, how do I find what version i have?
Question2) Why is rt73.bin not being loaded? I ask this because the file is located in Root/lib/firmware
Question3) Why is Configure Desktop > Network Manager > Wifi is blanked out as if doesnt exist?

Question 4) when using YAST > Network Settings > Initially under wireless network card configuration I can scan the area and find networks successfully (I got 2, one as a wifii hotspot from my pda cell phone, the other is the standard wireless network for laptops and such).... but if i use kinternet >wlan0 > wireless connection, nothing will be found! I did a search on the /var/bootlog msg for "switch" and "radio", for radio I found the following:

<6>[ 9.108858] Registered led device: rt73usb-phy1::radio
<6>[ 9.108884] Registered led device: rt73usb-phy1::assoc

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Suddenly No Wireless Network Card

May 5, 2010

I am running SLED 11 and My Networkcard is Intel PRO/Wireless 5300. In short, it is not there anymore! I mean I was connected and everything and the next time I restarted It could not detect any wireless network. I deleted the wireless network card in hopes that the OS will automatically detect it on startup and set it right but NOPE. When I check the hardware information in YAST, it is listed there and it is also working under Windows.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Network Detected But Will Not Connect?

Feb 16, 2010

I have a D-link dir-635 firmware v. 2.30eu (latest) and a USB WLAN adapter D-link DWA-140 802.11n. The driver seems to be installed correctly since lsusb lists it correctly and all the wireless networks in the vicinity are detected including mine. When I try to connect however NetworkManager says it is activating but after awhile the windows with the newtork password appers. dmesg output:

[ 5509.487262] wlan0: direct probe to AP 00:1c:f0:71:03:88 try 1
[ 5509.684014] wlan0: direct probe to AP 00:1c:f0:71:03:88 try 2
[ 5509.884020] wlan0: direct probe to AP 00:1c:f0:71:03:88 try 3
[ 5510.084014] wlan0: direct probe to AP 00:1c:f0:71:03:88 timed out

So it is able to determine the AP:s mac address but each time it times out.

I have tried disabling the security on the router but no luck.

Not sure what to try next. I have checked some of the tips supplied in these forums but none seem to handle the issue I am having.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Dynex Network Card Not Working / Fix It?

May 25, 2010

Well this my first time working with linux and openSUSE, and I love it. But one problem I can't overcome is my network card is not working. I went to bestbuy and bought the dynex enchanced wireless G card.
Model # dx-ebnbc
ver. 1011

I installed wine to run the .exe but that did nothing and gave me that the dll is not registered. openSUSE detects that the card is plugged in but the card does not light up or activate in anyway. The only way I can connect to the net is through an Ethernet cable.
