Previously work normal. Started from some time ago, after reboot the server, the network card cannot be automatically started. Need to go into YAST's wired network which will activate the network card. Having checked 'chkconfig', the 'network' is on. Where can I check if they is any error log about auto enabling the network card?
I've installed the Ubuntu 10.04 Server onto a PPC G4 Mac just for the experience of setting up a server. During the installation process Ubuntu couldn't auto-configure my DHCP Network. I'm using the airport card on a wireless network. How can I manually configure the network once Ubuntu is installed.
Problem I have is the Samba server, it does not seem to start up the shares at boot. When I boot the system, nothing is available on the network, I have to run the Samba Server Configuration Tool everytime I want to access a share, edit a share, save and quit, then my network shares become available.I see Starting SMB services during boot up, it says OK.It worked good on Fedora13.
in my centos5.3 i am able to login in terminal but while logging in gui shows error as follows-- Couldn't start x server on card 0 i fired the command as follows- yum groupinstall "X Window System" shows illegal instruction
I have a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 network card on my server at work.Everything works fine for a few weeks, then randomly the network connection on the server will stop working. After it stops working, I will try to reconnect with the network manager, it shows a wired connection available, it shows the "connection in progress"animation, then the "connection disabled" icon.
I uninstalled the network manager and used manual configuration, but do you think the network manager was the issue? I can't have the server disconnecting randomly every few weeks with no way to know what the real problem is. Was there an issue with the network manager with 10.04?
I would like my Ubuntu server to show up as a drive on my XP home machine. I have loaded samba on to the server but I can only get it to show as the printer and faxes under my work group. Also is there a way to have my Ubuntu laptop to auto mount the server when I am on my home network?
I just installed TuxGuitar - very cool - and to get the sound to work I had to install Timidity++ as well. Before I start TuxGuitar I have to execute:timidity -iA -Osin a terminal window first, which is kind of a pain to do every time I run TuxGuitar. How do I get this line to execute on startup such that timidity is running when I start up? I tried adding that line to rc.local
im trying to use this as an ssh server but i need to some how install drivers for my WMP600N V1.1 network card from linksys. so how would i go about this.
I am looking for a gigabit network card for my centos 5.4 server. I am looking for something known to work well with linux. I have been on the bestbuy site and I found a DLink (DGE-530T) card with support for linux from the vendor but after reading feedback from users with that card I am not so sure it is linux friendly. I am now thinking of buying online.
I'm dealing with two dedicated servers hosted at liquidweb. The basic idea is that one machine might not be enough to handle the traffic at launch so we have a second machine to shoulder the MySQL duties -- it seemed a natural way to divy up computation burdens.
The support staff at LW tells me that each machine has three network cards
1) Public-facing NIC through which all public visitors are served
2) NIC on LAN so that liquidweb can access the machine locally for maintenance and support
3) Third NIC so that the two machines can speak to each other rapidly on their own private network. Apparently the two machines are connected via crossover cable.
It's my understanding that machine 1 has IP of 192.168.0.1 on this third card and machine 2 has IP of 192.168.0.2 on its third card. For some reason, these machines cannot speak to each other using ping, telnet, ssh, http, or MySQL.
I've contacted tech support about this issue but was wondering how I might be sure that the MySQL traffic transits the third network card on each machine. I'm guessing that it's just a matter of using the third card's IP addresses but want to be sure. Is there any way to specify a NIC when connecting via MySQL?
I can't start NFS Server with GSS option.I've added [URL] (example) principal via kadmin with -randkey option as mentioned at "6.4.8. Creating Kerberos Service Principals".After executing rcnfsserver start, /var/log/messages shows:"do you have a keytab entry for nfs/<your.host>@<YOUR.REALM> in /etc/krb5.keytab?"
Here comes my problem: I am installing a new unit with Fedora Core 5,I will use it as my internet server. I need one additional PCI network card but it is not detected during installation.what shall I do?
I have one machine (out of a couple dozen) that continues to refuse to allow "vncserver :1" to start. It is perfectly happy with :2 - :9 but tells me :1 is already running - yet ps tells me that there is no running Xvnc instance. What have I done here and how do I get that session back? I've cleared the /tmp/.X11-unix entries but that did no good. Could I have checked something in Yast that is launching an invisible session?
I have installed the Suse Enterprise server 11 SP1 on my laptop. I have the atheros AR8132 network card, and it seams the suse is detecting correctly, but i can't start the network up. He returns an erros saying that the eth0 is not supported by suse, or kernel, i must check to be sure.
Intel 1000GT gigabit Network Card itself installed successfully and shows up under network cards. However, when I plug it into the network in place of the regular 100mbit card, it won't show up.
I recently fixed an annoying problem and I thought it would be nice to share my solution here. The problem was that after a cycle of suspend/resume, Network Manager would only auto-connect to the same network as it was previously connected to. So, for example, if I suspended my laptop at home, and then I went to school and resumed it, it would try to connect to the home network, and then just give up. It would not connect to the school network unless I explicitly told it to.irst, I'll describe the fix. If you're having this problem, you can this. Copy the following:
I'm setting up an LTSP server using Ubuntu 10.4 64bit, and PXE connecting with thin clients using Atheros cards. The ltsp environment is 32bit.
Unfortunately I get an error message with "No interfaces found! Aborting..." and a kernel panic early during PXE boot.
After an enormous amount of investigation, I've narrowed it down to (probably) being the fact that the ltsp chroot environment doesn't have the correct driver for my network card (I believe it's atl1c). The correct driver IS available in Ubuntu, though, as I can successfully boot the thin client from both 64bit and 32bit live CDs and bring up the network interface.
how can I install the correct driver in the PXE environment?
This morning I was configuring a DNS server through Yast at home, I've done it once before (in another wireless lan)and it works perfectly. But this morning, after I clicked "start dns server now", everything freezed, and caps lock light on keyboard kept flashing. I rebooted laptop,it couldn't boot into run level-5 and there were few "skipped" items and "failed" items displayed.... Sorry I'm new to linux so I re-installed it this afternoon, and kept /home partition, formatted / partition.
Everything seems to be fine after re-installation, again I tried configuring a DNS server and clicked "start dns server now", but the same problem appeared, caps lock light kept flashing and I rebooted the laptop but fortunately this time it didn't fail on any items when booting
In Yast-Network Settings, I choose "use controlled with network manager", and I can connect to wireless router and browsing web, but there are no any interfaces shown in Yast-Firewall, and this time, after I clicked "start dns server now", nothing happens, dns server just won't start...
On my local network, I use my Linux machine running dhcpd and IP masquerade as a gateway to the internet. As it is, the setup works just fine, and I've enabled dhcpd in all runlevels in the services dialog, but for some reason, it still does not automatically start when I boot the machine. If I select it and click "Start", it operates normally, and if I run "services dhcpd start" from a command line, that works too. My only guess is that it's some problem with my config file... it's the same setup I used with previous versions of Fedora without issues, but maybe things have changed?
I know 10.4 is not final but I am running it and loving it. I am trying to have synergyc start and be working at the logon box of ubuntu 10.4. I can get it to autostart after the user is logged in. But I want it to be working before the user is logged in. how I can do this with 10.4
I'm on Natty, but this was a problem for me on Maverick as well. Since my mouse is way too fast in Ubuntu even on the slowest settings (a topic for another discussion), I run a shell script at startup to fix this. Of course, the script is only run when I log into my account. Is there a way to have this script run at system start so that it affects all users? I already tried copying my fixmouse.sh script to /usr/share/gdm/autostart/ to no avail. If it's germane to the discussion, here are the contents of fixmouse.h:
I have a "time-server". It's sending time to different devices through different ports/protocols. The problem is that it has no operator and that makes some extra difficulties.
Now when i try to start it using terminal Code: Select allsudo ./myprogram works fine and
Code: Select all./myprogram doesn't work.
It is so because without sudo i have no access to ports. As a result If i add my program to System->Preferences->Startup Applications it has the same problem. So i need to start it as root, auto-start, right after auto-login to system but without entering password cause nobody will do it.
Also I need to start ntpd but it also asks password sometimes I've tried googles but it offer a few ways with entering password that isn't suitable for me or writing some scripts/changing system files but with no example I'm afraid to break it all. So is there a way to start Myprogram and NTPD as root with no password entering?
My system is Debian 6.0.10 Squeeze, Kernel 2.6.32-5-686
Every time I reboot my linux machine I have to set up 5 or 6 terminals and Im trying to find a way to do this automatically. Bind a script to a shortcut or on startup that starts several terminals (extra point if theyre tabbed) and have each terminal ssh to different servers.
I broke PulseAudio accidentally, when I was trying to fix something else. I'm not sure what I did, but PulseAudio no longer starts automatically when I log in. That means I get no sound. I can start the PulseAudio daemon manually by running:
Code:
pulseaudio -D
at the command line, but I also have to go into sound preferences and select the correct hardware (Audigy 2 ZS card) instead of my motherboard's sound device (which is not connected to my speakers) to get sound back. How do I make all that happen automatically?
How do you set PulseAudio to auto-start during boot? Just upgraded ALSA versions, but pulse audio does not appear to be starting at boot time and I have no sound. RT-Kernel-33
