Here comes my problem: I am installing a new unit with Fedora Core 5,I will use it as my internet server. I need one additional PCI network card but it is not detected during installation.what shall I do?

I have a 64 bit install of Ubuntu 10.04, I was surfing up to 11:30pm EST last night, shut down for the night, upon reboot am unable to connect to the internet or my local network. Ubuntu seems to think that I have no ethernet cables connected.My networking is controlled by my motherboard (Gigabyte P55A-UD4P) and the problem is not on my cable modems side. The modem has multiple wired jacks, all of them are unresponsive with my Ubuntu PC while my roommate can connect to all of them with his Windows 7 PC. Both network cables (the one connecting to his box and the one connecting to mine) are interchangeable: They both work on his and neither on mine, so there is no broken cable.I've followed the troubleshooting in other posts, here are some commonly requested diagnostics:

I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 on an old family laptop. It is a Compaq Presario V2000. Everything works perfectly except no wireless networks are recognized, even though I know there are available networks. My network controller is detected but is not doing it's job, which is finding available wireless networks! Using "system testing" I found this out about my network controller:

Since the install and original tweaking of F15 the os and pc have been operating flawlessly now for a couple months. Today I slid the Sandisk memory card from my camera in but there is no detection of the stick and no paths in the media link directory. I searched the forum but did not find any post specific to this issue.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the latest everything (kernel, nvidia drivers and kde) and there seems to be a problem in that if I click on the K menu, or grouped windows in the taskbar, or anything in the notification area which causes the computer to freeze for 7 - 12 seconds. Anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?
It's an AMD 64 dual core with a GeForce 210 pci-x graphics card. The issue happens either with out without compositing.
I have a PC with Fedora Core 5, and only command line available for this PC. I try to use the ALSA sample program to playback a simple sine wave, and I can't get any sound from the audio out. I suspect that the sound card is set as mute. My question is how to unmute the sound card, which is integrated with the VIA82xx mother board.The following is some of the info about the PC and sound card.

I'm starting to think that samba is comprised of buggy applications and i'm basically hitting my head against a brick wall for the fun of it. Can anybody vouch for its reliability under fedora 13?
So basically what I am trying to do is install Ubuntu 10.04 on a Dell Poweredge 2600 server. Right now I dont care wither I get the server version or the desktop version, I just need to get it on their. this is what I have run into. When installing the regular Ubuntu 10.04 desktop for 32bit, the server just locks up on the very first ubuntu install screen and the keyboard lights just start blinking non stop. When I use the server version, the server get to the Detecting Network Hardware and locks up at 94% and the keyboard will also start blinking nonstop. I have looked all over for an answer to this problem and have yet to find one. This guy figured out how to make it work but he never mentioned what version he was using. [URL]..
On this server I have 6 HDs, 5 of them are RAID 0 with 1 Hot Spare. I have also tried using the ubuntu-10.04.1-alternate-i386.iso.torrent and still had the same problem. I have spent the last 3 days searching all over google and the forum to an answer but had no luck.
I am using fedora 14 on lenovo laptops and android 1.6 I created a wireless network on my laptop with create a wireless network. But it was not detected by my android 1.6 phone. Same wireless network created on my MacbookPro is detected by the phone.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI recently setup an email server on Fedora Core (14). Sendmail is running and I am trying to authenticate from a client pc using imaps. I installed Cyrus-imap and it is running and listening on 993. When I try to login, it doesn't accept authentication even though I verified the user's password is correct. (tested with ssh)Is there something I have to do with Cyrus or on the server to allow connections to email? I have not used Cyrus before. I am attempting to access my mail folders via Sendmail and did not make mailboxes in Cyrus. I did allow imaps through the firewall.

View 10 Replies View RelatedDecided to have a bit of a clean, and moved the computers out the way (unplugged and stuff) to hoover up and that around the floor, but not the inside of the computers.
Now ive put everything back together, my main pc with linux on doesn't detect the wireless card.
I turned it off, then checked the card hadnt been knocked out. It did appear to be, so i put it back in properly, and it still wont detect the card. (its basically a pcie card with an antenna sticking out the back).
I have loded centos 5 on vertual machine, my host machine is windows xp and has two NIC cards working perfectly well
1) realtek RTL 8139 family PCI fast eathernet NIC
2) realtek 8169/8110 family gigabite ethernet NIC ( ONBOARD)
but both of them are not getting detected by CENTOS

Having a hard time getting NM to detect wireless usb device: Linksys model WUSB600N. Here are a few commands I do know about.

I was here yesterday trying to make my ethernet card(which my rhel 6.0 doesn't detect) works. I initially untar a file that has the driver for my card which i got from atheros. When i tried to run it i.e ./autorun.sh i got the following result:

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 and when I open up my network settings, It shows my ethernet card and my modem but my wireless card doesn't show up. Under "Hardware Drivers" it says that my driver for my wireless card is a "proprietary driver" and that there is no driver I can get for it for Linux. Is there any way that I can get my wireless card to work? I tried going to the HP website and downloading a driver for it, but all of the drivers only work for Windows....

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5721 network card on my server at work.Everything works fine for a few weeks, then randomly the network connection on the server will stop working. After it stops working, I will try to reconnect with the network manager, it shows a wired connection available, it shows the "connection in progress"animation, then the "connection disabled" icon.
I uninstalled the network manager and used manual configuration, but do you think the network manager was the issue? I can't have the server disconnecting randomly every few weeks with no way to know what the real problem is. Was there an issue with the network manager with 10.04?
It is detecting the wireless networks in the surrounding area but it isn't connecting.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy wireless card isent detecting my router even though it has detected my 3 of neighbors wifi. the only reason i thought that it may not be able to detect mine is that i use a wpa2 encrption rather then a wep like my neighbors. so i tried to go and reset my router using my other desktop and set it to a wep encryption, but for some reason my computer still did not detect it. i am using a dell dimension comnputer with both a linkseys N gigabit router model number :wrt310n and the reciving card linkseysduel band wireless N network adapter model number :wusb600n. can somebody please tell my what i am doing wrong? this is rather annoying as i have to drag my desktop and moniter out to the living room just to physically connect to my router to enable internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a virtual machine of a system running Fedora Core 4 and I need to upgrade it to Fedora Core 10. Based on what I have read, it iis possible so I started theupgrade process. I get an error message saying that /dev/hda6 (my root paritition does not exist) even though it does.
Does the installer need to read a label from /etc/fstab? I executed tune2fs -L / /dev/hda6 amd ,and added LABEL=/ for the corresponding entry for fstab. but the FEDORA CORE 10 is still giving the same problems for the installation process. Should I upgrade to an intermediate verson like Fedora Core 7 first?
I have this ISP grade Nameserver running on BIND 9.5 on Fedora Core 9 64 Bit.
Its been pretty working well for sometime until a last week when we noticed it stopped resolving for our clients using on our service.
It gives correct authouritative answers for our own ISP domain with the A, PTR and MX intact but does not return resolving queries back to clients.

The 41.223.x.x and 41.215.x.x ip address are from our ISP subnet and so are our own clients being denied.
The box is also hosting our traffic graph server which is on a LAMP but listens on another IP/ethernet card.
So far the load on the server is minimal as is a Dell R200 rack server.
I have tried to mount new hot swap scsi drive in IBM xSeries 226.
I have put new drive to the pocket and tried to list all new drives using #fdisk -l
I cannot see that drive.
How to mount this drive ?
Should be something like /dev/sdc . In this server I have 3 drives (include this which should be mount). I have also restarted server. Doesnt help.
