I had installed apache previously on my system, and I think I uninstalled it completely, although remnants might have remained. I have just installed zend server ce php 5.3, and I am having trouble getting it to work. Previously work normal. Started from some time ago, after reboot the server, the network card cannot be automatically started. Need to go into YAST's wired network which will activate the network card. Having checked 'chkconfig', the 'network' is on. I am using preupgrade to update Fedora 9 -> Fedora 12 following these steps: -

I am sure I missing something from my xorg.conf but at this point I am not sure what I have been searching on this for days to no avail. From the log the only thing that looks like is a problem is it doesn't load the keyboard and mouse but it gets loaded later on in the file.
I have Debian 5.0.3 and I've had a lot of trouble installing Linsys WMP600N PCI card - Ralink chipset - 2860. I had it installed in the board, before I installed/compiled Debian. What I'm thinking I should have done was chosen Desktop and Laptop during the guided install. I tried expert install, but I was over-whelmed with options. Anyways, I tried NDISwrapper in many different ways. My last tries showed that the driver and device was working. No matter what I did, I would never get an interface with a wireless extension. I couldn't find any useful information anywhere, including Ubuntu forums - I'm sure you think I'm stupid or evil.
I eventually figured I would get the drivers directly from Ralink website. [URL] The one that looked like it would work (RT2860PCI/mPCI/CB/PCIe(RT2760/RT2790/RT2860/RT2890) would error out when I would try to extract anything. I used 2nd one (RT2860WebUI) which worked. If anyone does use it, be sure to read all documentation that is included, including the README. After I was done installing/compiling it, I got ra0 interface and could see my router.
I couldn't connect to it because I use WPA2 and that wasn't an option for encryption. I will work on that later. I wanted to share this information with anyone who might need this.

I don't have an installation cd-rom! I put the .iso file onto a memory stick, inserted it into my old computer (which i will turn into a server later) , restarted it and got past the first two slides and got this error? Do I have to put the iso on a cd-rom?

I installed Mangler and one of its requirements was pulse-audio. I installed pulse-audio everything worked great except i couldn't get sound out of wow if i started mangler first and vice-versa. I then found a version of Mangler that worked with alsa. So i uninstalled mangler and pulse-audio, installed mangler-alsa. Everything works great now. The problem is when i uninstalled Pulse-audio i lost all my sliders in Yast > Hardware > Sound > other > volume. The only thing that shows up is master volume > Test. My sound works great just can't adjust anything. How do i get my sliders back. I would like some advice before i screw something up. My box was unplugged and now when I restarted, SSH server is no longer running... I had it up and running before, but I just forgot how to start it
I know similar questions have been asked but I could find an answer to my exact question. Especially in anything like laymans terms. So when I try to start my iMac G4 running linux it starts, runs lines of code, flashes black then back to code several times then "Failed to start the X server.... output to diagnose the problem..." When I click yes here is what I get:

I have just purchased a HTPC - cheap purchase pre-built from ebay - ideal size - small box - not too out of place in the lounge.The HTPC has one rj45 connection built on to the mobo, with a wireless card + aerial in the back (wireless broadband) and I am going to take the dtv card out and replace it with anothe rj45 card.I intend to run ubuntu server 10.10 on the server and I intend to connect my sky broadband through the server to give me the security of a server based firewall and the security of the server as a whole.

I've been trying to make a cgi script that starts a program on a server and then shows the program on the servers screen. The cgi script is written in perl. I've been successful in making the program showing up on the screen through ssh by setting $DISPLAY to :0.0, I tried setting it to this in /etc/profile but when the cgi script ran nothing showed up on the screen. I tried having the script running it as a local user with "su - [user] -c [command]", this didn't help either.
In short what I'm trying to accomplish. When I press a button on a web page an slide show is supposed to start on a screen connected to the server.

I am trying to start remote tomcat server, it's not working as expected. I like to mansion that..I am able to stop tomcat server remotly. Below command i am using

I have setup a CentOS 5.5 server as a DHCP server. That will be it's only task in a Cisco callmanger VoIP environment The DHCP server that comes with CentOS 5.5 is from ISC V3.0.5 -redhat.

I'm configuring a new Centos 5.5 server in replacement of an old W2K server.The topology of our network is simple : one file/dhcp/dns relay server and workstations (PC's and some MAC's) plus network printers and scanners.All the workstations have dynamic IP addresses (easier because a lot of 'dynamic' changes : new persons with their own laptop, ...) and the server and printers/scanners have fixed IP addresses.I edited the dhcpd.conf (see here underneath), I have the file dhcpd.leases but it doesn't start !
