OpenSUSE :: CinePaint Crashes - Load A Jpg For Edit Or Try To Create A New Picture
Aug 19, 2011I am running 11_4, KDE4.7 I loaded CinePaint cinepaint-0.25-3.10.x86_64.rpm from the multimedia:color_management/openSUSE_11.4 repo. It opens, but crashes if I try to load a jpg for edit or try to create a new picture.

Feb 12, 2010I was given a 41-page pdf document (+ .docx) with some text/tables/pictures. Upon some audit, just 2 sentences must be changed in the document.
1. When I open it with openoffice (.docx) - the structure of the document really goes wrong. The document is too long to edit it manually to make it look as it's supposed to look.
2. When I open it with softmaker office 2010 (beta!) it crashes every time.
3. Could I edit just the relevant pages of .docx, export them to pdf and REPLACE just the two pages in the pdf file? Or is there any other solution without involving Windows?

Oct 4, 2010I installed apache and when i go to my 127.0.1.1 ip i see the welcome page. I found the directory where the html is located (var/www/index.html but i cannot edit the file. what is going on here? why cant i edit the HTML file?

Oct 20, 2009I suspect that this has come up numerous times, but I am new to Linux and I am setting up a new in-house server using Ubuntu 9.04 and Apache, etc. I can see the welcoming "It Works!" message when I log in via Firefox. I can see "index.html" when I FTP the server with the site name and password at /var/www. I can also see the -rw-r-r-- attributes, but I can't edit the HTML file or replace it. When I try to rename the "index.html" file.
I get the following message: "Request denied. Verify that the file or folder exists and that you have the necessary permissions on the server to perform the requested operation."
I haven't been able to determine where to enter the password or what changes I need to make to be able to work with the /var/www directory via FTP.

Aug 17, 2011However - is there such a thing as a decent HTML editor like dreamweaver? Komposer is buggy as hell - useless! Bluegriffon, well umm - screen fonts are bizarre, especially in viewing source code - brake down, multicoloured obviously a bug - no deb either, looks like a windows program install (?). This does look really good, but is unusable as I cant see in souce code view without getting a headache! Also, ignores css on links.
Seamonkey - you have to open browser then editor, then open your file. Ignores css totally. Amaya - ignores used fonts unless you re-edit - and ignores css on links. Weird way to select things as well, such as images. There must be at least one decent editor?

It then edits the index.html file and inserts links to all of the .html files that are in that folder into the body. If no .html files are found, it searches for folders. Oct 10, 2010I'm working with a dual-boot laptop running Ubuntu 10.0/Windows 7 and a Debian 5 VPS while the OS's shouldn't have much impact on my question.
What I would like to do is create a html page that I can upload to my VPS which lists all of the files/folders on my local 2TB hard drive (Specifically media such as Movies, Music, TV Shows...). The media obviously will not reside on the server, but I would like to at least have a list which will allow me to select, for instance, a bands artist so that it redirects me to the albums in the directory below.
Ultimately, I'm looking for Open Directory Browsing without actually having the media on my server. I have been attempting to create something to this effect using lynx, however, I'm not sure if it can be done with this command or if it's even possible for that matter.

Feb 26, 2011Does anyone have a solution that actually works for creating video DVDs from beginning to end? My requirements are pretty simple, I would think. I need to take video from an NTSC DVD (which I made from 8mm analog tape), edit it, create a menu, and burn it. It doesn't have to be fancy. It just has to work. The total project is a little over 1 hour of video. I have reasonable computer power for this.
That doesn't seem like such a difficult task, but it actually requires using up to four different mutually incompatible programs, each of which has nearly infinite options, a huge number of intermediate file types, and infinite ways to fail. If there are intermediate files to be written, I need to know EXACTLY what files and formats to use, and what packages must be installed to use those formats. I don't care if the programs are KDE or Gnome (even a command line might work if the procedure is clear-cut).
The task consists of four parts:
* Rip or import an ordinary video from DVD. (This was made by a hardware DVD recorder).
* Edit videos. Create clips, cut, past, move, fade.
