OpenSUSE Wireless :: Aircrack-NG Packet Injection For Intel3945 Does Not Work?

May 14, 2009

I have the latest version of aircrack, and the latest compat-wireless package installed. When I try to inject I get this:

linux08:/usr/local/sbin # ./aireplay-ng -9 wlan0
16:46:33 Trying broadcast probe requests...
16:46:35 No Answer...
16:46:35 Found 0 APs

I know for a fact that there are 2 AP's. This worked perfectly with my old laptop with a D-link PCMCIA card.

Ubuntu Networking :: 9.10 / Broadcom - Utilize The Patches That Would Allow Packet Injection

Jan 30, 2010

I was playing around with Aircrack the other night, and trying to utilise the patches that would allow packet injection, but it wasn't working for me, so I rebooted. After that, though, my wireless card seems to have gone completely haywire. It doesn't show up at all in iwconfig. Before, I had 4 entries: lo, eth0, irda0, and eth1, which was the wireless. Now, only the first three show up. This is what it comes up as under lspci:

Code: 04:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN (rev 01) I've tried a number of solutions I've found online, including doing a cold boot, reinstalling the driver (Broadcom STA) and starting up from a cold boot, and am now trying this approach. Nothing has worked, so far. I'm getting really desperate. I need my wireless working for university, which starts shortly, and I might even switch back to Windoze if there's no feasible solution.

Ubuntu Security :: Faster Aircrack Packet Collecting?

Jul 8, 2010

I've just started learning how to use kismet and aircrack. I'm sniffing my own network to see how vulnerable it is. I'm using aireplay to inject packets, but the number of packets per second in airodump is only about 30 to 50. Is there something that can speed this up a little more? Shouldn't it be able to go faster than this? It's going to take forever to collect at least 300,000 IVs for a 64 WEP key let alone the amount needed for 128 WEP.

wireless card intel iwl3945. Everything works great except for the extremely slow speed of gathering IVs. Also, how can I monitor my network? If someone was using aircrack on me and sending packets, how could I observe that? What should I Google?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Must Be On During Boot Or It Will Not Work

May 11, 2010

I've just upgraded from openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3. In 11.2 everything worked fine: I've booted my laptop, logged in and turn my wireless card on using the hardware wireless button, the KDE Wallet opened up, I inserted the password and voil, wireless connection was on.But after upgrading from 11.3, it doesn't work like that anymore. I need to have the hardware wireless button pressed to on during boot, otherwise Network Manager will not work. And yes, I do check the "Enabled wireless" option, but it doesn't work. When I tried to check it out, I found out that the wireless "Scan" button that scans and displays the available wireless connections shows nothing. So, if I forget to put the wireless on for boot, I must restart and put it on. I've tried log off and log on, and restarting some network services, but neither worked.I have an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG, as showed below, and I'm posting this message using it.

Result of /sbin/lspci:

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Cannot Connect To AP - Cant Get Wireless To Work

Jun 22, 2010

Suse on an (old even) laptop is even more fun that it is on a desktop. BUT, I still cant get my wireless to work! I have the Encore ENUWI-N3 USB adaptor. Suse sucessfully detects my USB device, recognize its a Wireless lan network adapter, installs it as such (gives it its driver) and adds my wireless menu under network manager. (it gives it the rt2x00) I can enable / disable the USB device from there (its light corroborates that.

So all in all, suse installs my wireless. But I CANNOT find any AP when I scan. Under the "scan" tool (under connec to wireless > A wireless network ect ect) I find no APs. Adding the SSID of the AP manually is of no help either. And the command sudo /usr/sbin/iwlist scan merely gives - "wlan1 Scan completed" and nothing else. Check ifconfig - not a frame sent/received.

Slackware :: 40-75% Packet Loss On Average With Wireless Networking 13.0?

Jun 26, 2010

I am running Slackware 13.0 on a old dell dimension 4500. The install went fine. sound worked, graphics where good. Everything was going perfect. until i worked on wireless.i have a realtek rtl8185 wireless chipset card. I got the wireless. Linux wireless driver. It worked on both Mint 5.0 and backtrack 4.0.so I untar the file. cd to the dir and type make then make install and reboot. like I have always done.

I was having to fight with wpa_gui and finally got it working but then it would go in and out on the connect and disconnect feature. so I tried using iwconfig. did not get muc luck with that either so i installed wicd and finally got a ip address after fighting with it would give me in a ping like 75% packet loss. so I read a lot of post and try to find stuff before I post. and while reading I learned that you guys normally ask for info on the hardware and software so here you go. but I will say first that I read about adjusting the mtu to fix packet loss, I showed some of the changes I made in it around the pings I know it is a mess I am sorry I tried to make it readable. if you need more information let me know. I cant get online using a web browser or if I can only for one or two pages. any help would be great. thank you.

Ubuntu :: Magic Packet Received / But Wake On Lan Doesn't Work

Oct 15, 2010

I am trying to remotely wake up my computer. I am using the wakeonlan tool as follows wakeonlan -i 146.x.x.x 00:0f:.I have used wireshark on the remote computer and verified it was getting the magic pack. wireshark sees the packet, and immediately the remote computer sends an ICMP dest. unreachable (port unreachable) packet back, although I assume that is normal. On the remote computer, I used ethtool so I am enable to verify that suports wake-on is set to "g" or magic packet.

I believe that wake-on-lan is enabled in the bios. I have a hp dc5000, so I turned on S5 wake on lan in the bios. However, the computer does not wake up.My assumption is that once the computer is off, the router doesn't know where to send to packet because that ip is not there anymore. Does that make any sense? What other troubleshooting steps can I take? I don't have control over the routers though.
