I have a Samsung N310 with a atheros wireless card. Been having trouble getting it to work. I was thinking about upgrading to a N card anyway so I will be buying one tonight. Does anyone know of a Mini PCI N card that works out of the box with ubuntu 64bit?
Im running Ubuntu 11.04 with alfa awus036nh. I first tried to install drivers from alfa disc for RT3070. Everything seemed to be working but i got the imfamous mon0 channel -1 problem with aireplay-ng. Did some research-downloaded and tried different drivers rt2800 rtl 8170. Bottom line is i dont know what THE F*** im doing. I think i installed three different drivers. Now airodump doesnt show any output. Im going crazy. Is linux designed to make ppl go crazy. Windows is calling me to go back to it. THings shouldnt be this complicated. BTW im on a asus laptop with atheros ar 9285 card in it. a breif explanation of how drivers work in linux . Once again maybe im just putting the cart b4 the horse as im only about 2 weeks fresh into ubuntu.
I am running Lucid Lynx, kernel 2.6.32.23 generic, I have a card with the Broadcom BCM4311, with the STA Linux Wireless driver. I have no idea how to get monitor mode to work with the Aircrack-ng suite's Airmon-ng command. I use the command: sudo airmon-ng start eth1
And I get this output: Found 5 processes that could cause trouble. If airodump-ng, aireplay-ng or airtun-ng stops working after a short period of time, you may want to kill (some of) them!

I'm about to install OpenSuse 11.3 gnome on my laptop with ubuntu & vista in a dualboot, and wanted to make sure that the Broadcom 4322AG wireless card would be compatible with my laptop.
I've had way too many problems with my network card under linux and I'm looking to buy a new one because the money is worth the lack of headaches. My project: I'm breathing new life into my old, old pentium 4 computer by running Kubuntu Server on it and using it as a little samba filedump.
So I don't want to spend a lot on an ethernet card -- this computer is no prize. I just want the cheapest, most out-of-the-box-compatible-with-no-configuration card I can buy.
I started on Newegg (sorted by price: [URL]....CE&PageSize=20 ), and I've heard that cards based on the RealTek 8129/8139 chip may be compatible/cheap but I can't seem to find out ahead of time what chip the cards are based on.
I am looking to reinstall Ubuntu on my desktop computer, in a dual-boot configuration. The system I am installing to should prove no hassle, but my biggest concern is my wireless card. It's a D-Link DWA-510 wireless card. Checking the D-Link website, they do not seem to have Linux-specific drivers available for that model, so I am wondering if there are compatible drivers available in Ubuntu?
I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Server. I can't get my Wireless Card & Wired Card to work at the same time. My interfaces file is incorrect, when I comment out 1 of the interfaces the other works. I have attached my interfaces file.
I have tried to compile Aircrack -ng in Opensuse 11.2 I have received the following output
linux-z7wt:/home/jcaser/aircrack-ng-1.1 # make make -C src all make[1]: se ingresa al directorio `/home/jcaser/aircrack-ng-1.1/src' make -C osdep make[2]: se ingresa al directorio `/home/jcaser/aircrack-ng-1.1/src/osdep' Building for Linux
Just installed Fedora 14 from the Live CD i686 on my Dell Inspiron 1521. I can't connect to the SpeedTouch 585 on either wireless broadcom card or the wired Ethernet card.
I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.
Are Intel wireless cards compatible with non-intel-based laptops? In my case I wish to upgrade the current Atheros-based mini pci express wifi card with the Intel 4965agn. It is an Asus 4520 with an AMD Athlon X2 processor and nvidia nForce chipset.
I have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.
Those are my authentication capabilities, obviously. I am using a WEP encryption for my wireless router and according to this, it will not allow me to connect. Is there anyway to allow that? The wireless card works just fine in Windows, even on the same network encryption type. Using a Intel Wireless/Pro 4965 ag. Note* this is my mother's router and whatnot. She won't change it the encryption type.
The problem with my wireless network. I have Dell DV6 Pavilion 2115 eg laptop and i installed Ubuntu 11.4 and internet and wireless worked, until i reboted my system it has disapear. I cant no longer to connect to a wireless network. It dont shows me any wireless network. My wireless card is Atheros AR 9285 802.11b/g/n Wifi Adapter
I installed a Tenda W322P wireless card in my dual-boot PC running both Windows XP and Ubuntu 11.04. The card worked straight out of the box on XP, but does not function correctly under Ubuntu. My apologies for any missing/irrelevant information, I am having to post this from the Windows boot so the Ubuntu settings are not directly available at the same time as internet access.I followed the process detailed here htURL...to install and configure the driver (I believe from reading other sites that this card is the Ralink RT3062 chipset), blacklisted the original RT2860 driver that was in use (couldn't even get the card to scan for wireless networks with the default driver) and restarted the interface.
Since then, sudo iwlist scan can find my wireless router but when I attempt to connect to it, it seems to enter a loop of requesting the WEP key then pausing for a while before re-requesting the key. I know I have the key value correct because it is copied and pasted from the same text file I used to copy and paste into the passkey field on the Windows boot. Attempting to connect to the router using Ubuntu also has the rather unfortunate side-effect of crashing the wireless router, killing off all other device connections until the router has been reset.
have a dell Inspiron 1501 with ubuntu 10.0.4 I want to rename my wireless card from eth1 to wlan0 as I use conkyrc and it will not read my wireless strength or my ssid cuz it thinks it's a ethernet card and not wireless card. I know this for a fact because peppermint os my wireless card was wlan0 and it worked just fine.
I am not having a big problem at all but my built in video system is clearly behaving like it does not have the right driver.
Are there any video cards out there that are directly well-supported by linux? i.e. genuine linux drivers that allow the card to function at full capacity or close?
I'm having problems with my video card (Radeon X1600) ever since I upgraded to 10.04 (video is fine until I stress the video card (eg using 3D acceleration)). This appears to be a problem with the drivers for the video card. I've had problems in the past with video cards (many because I didn't check that the card I'm buying is "Linux friendly" or not. Now I'm doing my do diligence and asking the community what video card I should buy to replace my current one? I have the following Motherboard: [URL]
Maybe this question is asked too many times but I need a fresh one. Which Video Card and Printer should I buy that its 100% compatible with Linux? Because I have ATI Raedon x700 and Lexmark printer.
I have an laptop HP6735s (BCM4322 wireless adapter). I have installed drivers for wireless adapter. The problem is aircrack. When I type in: aireplay-ng -9 eth2 .An error appears as:sure RFMON is enabled: run 'airmon-ng start eth2 <#>'sysfs injection support was not found either.
I don't know why this happen a lot of time. But my first trial I successful to crack my neighbor WEP key and it write down the password beside that. But now, it doesn't show the decrypted password even the process was successful. Here the url of image [URL].
If I were to get a new graphics card for my computer so it is fully compatible with linux. My budget is not over 170 dollars. These are the details of my computer....
