I start Kmail, Akonadi tries to start a server and it fails (I removed the first 5 tests that were correct because otherwise this post would be to long). This is the report it gives:

After doing those steps the Akonadi server still shows a window with errors on startup. As far as I remember the ~/.xsession-errors file contains an error like "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket /home/alexander/<some path that I forget, sorry>/mysql.socket.
When I start up my computer I always get the Akonadi message window with some errors. If I just close it, launch "akonadi configuration" and ask for a test, some of the errors have already disappeared. It looks like the first test is made too soon, before everything is running. It's not a big issue but I would like to get rid of the akonadi warnings window. Does anybody know how?

I am new to CentOS and need this urgent help.
On my machine, I am not able to login using any of the user account or root. It's showing this message:

When KDE starts up a new session, it restores the progs that were running at log out last time.I am running skype and that prog is brought back but I suspect that KDE is restarting the "bin" (skype-bin) rather than the startup script (skpe) which contains the necessary "LD_PRELOAD" stuff essential to get the webcam operating OK.I can't find where KDE stores the session info, any ideas?

I connect to server and do stuffs in a ssh client(PuTTY on windows). And I'm getting stuck with a strange issue:1. After I connected to server, I start mongrel with : $ start-stop-daemon -S -d . -x script/server -b -- -p 80802. I left the ssh console and launch firefox from my Win7 box and openthe website, it runs well. I can see the homepage3. I go back to the ssh console. Close the terminal (and window too)it by : $ exit4. Then in firefox, I press F5 to refresh and nothing shows up. It'sjust an empty space in whole webpage. I tried to use addon to capturethe HTTP data and see that te server returns nothing , even HTTPheaders5. I connect to server again, run "ps -Af" to check and see that the process's still running. And again, leave the console, switch to firefox and refresh -> the homepage shows everything. 6. But if I exit the ssh session and refresh browser, the web server returns nothing againI thought that using start-stop-daemon command could help me runmongrel as daemon and then I can exit my session just as apache does.

Two weeks ago, more or less, Akonadi started to crash every time I tried to start it. Therefore I can use Kmail but without geting access to my contacts, since I put them on a resource controlled by Akonadi.

I used init 0 to make server shutdown,and replaced the power cord when I boot the server,it can't enter the GUI then I used init 5 and get the following message

After I logged out, I chose meego as session type and tried to login again.
I entered correct password, but when I press enter after type password , display change to black and got some message and backed to login session again.
On the other hand, I succeed in running MeeGo Live CD(1.0.1 build 1.4).
I wrote MeeGo Live CD image on USB Flash Driver by using Win32 Disk Imager, and boot that one successfully, although it has some flaw.
Network Settings Window is stuck in workspace and can't move or close, so it cover other appication's window. Internet on toolbar is broken, so I have to run FireFox in application toolbar to use internet.
I'm using Netbook based on Atom CPU and GMA.OpenSUSE installed in my netbook is installed by KDE Live CD image.
Should I Use Gnome to use Goblin, because MeeGo is using Gnome? Or.... what is problem make Goblin doesn't work?
I recently upgraded my SuSE 11.2 to KDE4.4 from "download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.2/". Most things run fine, however the "Akonadi Control Center" does not appear in my KDE "System Settings". Akonadi itself seems to run, at least Contact uses it for the addresses.
I searched for all "akonadi" packages, but I didn't find ones which I do not have installed.
Has anyone had this issue? Tonight, when I started KMail I got a crash of the Akonadi maildir resource agent. Everything was fine in the morning, I didn't change anything or mess about, just a normal session.The crash report will go away if I close it 5 times or so. I have seen the problem in a couple of fora, apparently the best workaround is to rename the relevant file in /usr/bin (the file named akonadi_maildir_resource). Kmail is now functioning properly (I gather it is not yet fully integrated with Akonadi, so it shouldn't matter too much). I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem, and any solutions you might have.

I was just mucking about in xfce, trying out new window buttons in conjunction with the black theme - dusk?? - when POW! - X shut down. Rebooting didn't restore things. Error is along these lines:

I was trying to install a couple of the sun packages to have and after the install I get the follow error. Xsession: unable to start X session--- no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no session managers, no window managers, and no terminal emulators found; aborting. I am now not able to log into the system at all....Can someone tell me what I've done wrong? How can a repair this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI run opensuse 11.3/KDE:Factory. Recently, kmail updated to using akonadi. The following problem came up. My local emails are now managed by a "local folders" component of akonadi. The folder structure is displayed correctly in Kmail. However, no emails are shown for some folders. Emails still live in the .kde4/share/app/kmail directory hierarchy and can be imported into a new folder after moving them somewhere else. However, even after a fresh import sometimes emails are no longer recognized.

I must say, the RPMfusion version of the Nvdia driver package work better with FC10 than they did under FC9 for me, which is to say: they work at all. Still get corrupted output after a few hours of work, but I imagine that's just the underlying weakness of the Nvidia driver bubbling up. Either way, now I have other problems:
First off, the Intel driver for my onboard video setup has stopped working entirely. The attempt to bring up X on the Intel setup gets me to the KDE login screen and locks the machine up hard (poweroff required). A look at the xorg.0.log shows that the server seems to be stuck in a loop trying to determine the valid video properties for the session.
Here's my xorg.conf, BTW. I have it setup to perform different configurations depending on which DefaultServerLayout line gets uncommented (lines 4 - 6). If anybody has a better way of doing this, I'm all ears. While we're on my xorg.conf, pleas view lines 64-67 and/or 75-77. This is my quickie way of changing drivers (again, all ears) which brings us to the next problem, neither the nv or nouveau drivers work with my system. Interestingly enough, both drivers tend to fail in the same relative spot in the process, I think. Please refer to line 207 of this xorg.0.log with the nv driver or line 140 of this xorg.0.log from the nouveau setup. Either way, both sessions die with the same message: (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration. Fatal server error: no screens found Gotta go, x session getting corrupt,,,
