CentOS 5 :: Can't Start Session Due To Internal Error / Do That?
Apr 5, 2009
I am new to CentOS and need this urgent help.
On my machine, I am not able to login using any of the user account or root. It's showing this message:
Then comes another message:
YOur session lasted for less than 10 seconds. Try logging using Failsfe.
....
session_child_run: Could not exec /etc/X11/xinit/Xsession default
I tried to use the failsafe as well, but nothing seems to work.
Would someone please help me regarding this issue?
When I started my session, a box saying: "An error occurred the startup of the Akonadi server. The following self-tests are supposed to help to tracking down and solving the problem. When requesting support or reporting bugs, please always include this report:
My server (CentOS 5.5) is a ldap client authenticate to LDAP server (Successfully authenticate) I use pam for ssh. I can ssh successfully with any users on system. But I cannot su - from ssh. It display the error: Could not open session. I look to log file and it shows: # tail -f /var/log/secure
I just performed a clean install of CentOS 5.4 on a Dell PowerEdge 1950III server. When I booted up for the first time, I begin seeing problems with the following error:There was an error loading the theme TreeFlowerFailed to open file'/usr/share/gdm/themes/TreeFlower/background.png': No such file or directoryOnce I hit OK there I get this:There was an error loading the theme, and the default theme could not be loaded. Attempting to start the standard greeterI then get the standard greeter, and I am able to log in as root. However, once logged in I can open neither Firefox nor a terminal. I can use some programs such as OpenOffice.org, but I cannot use a terminal or a web browser. The next thing I try is to log in to a failsafe terminal session. When I try this I get perhaps the most worrisome error so far:Cannot find "xterm" to start a failsafe session.
i am currently trying to install vsFTP onto my new linux server and btw i just started using linux today this is my first time using linux so i got the ftp installed good it got downloaded and everything then i went to open a port for my server for vsFTP i used this comand to open it "-A RH-Firewall-1-INPUT -m state --state NEW -m tcp -p tcp --dport 21 -j ACCEPT" then i closed it by pressing ESC then :wq! and it brought me back to my comand line again so now when i try to start the ip table thing with the comand "service iptables start" then when i execute that comand putty respondes with this "Applying iptables firewall rules: iptables-restore: line 1 failed [FAILED]"
I am putting together some new systems for my customer and I'm having some trouble with a script that we use to back up files to a DVD R. The problem is that I can't write a 2nd session to the DVD unless I eject the disk and reload it. The drives are slimline type drives, Sony BD-5730S and Teac DV-W28S-V93, so they won't reload without human intervention. Opsys is CentOS 5.4 or RHEL 5.4. I've tried both AMD and Intel based mother boards. If i try this on Fedora 11 or 12 it works fine. This works on IDE attached drives but not a SATA attached drives. Fedora appears to use something called genisoimage instead of mkisofs. I can't get genisoimage to run on CentOS or RHEL.
Here's the code to setup the test files:
rm -f /tmp/BDtest/* mkdir /tmp/BDtest dd if=/dev/zero of=/tmp/BDtest/blank.iso bs=10M count=1 for NUM in {1..160}
i restore Centos from backup file, after i have finished,i start centos, it can't start and repost error: IO-APIC + timer doesn't work! Boot with apic=debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'noapic' option
I was trying to install a couple of the sun packages to have and after the install I get the follow error. Xsession: unable to start X session--- no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no "/home/username/.xsession" file, no session managers, no window managers, and no terminal emulators found; aborting. I am now not able to log into the system at all....Can someone tell me what I've done wrong? How can a repair this?
I have upgraded from Centos version 4.x to 5.5 and my installation of UGS NX 6.0 was installed under Centos 4. NX was working fine in Centos 4, but when I try starting it under Centos 5, I get the following:
ERROR: unable to start NX Check: X windows is running, :0.0 is valid, and X display has been authorized on :0.0.
I installed CentOS 5.5 x86_64 on server as xen dom0. When i try to install CentOS 5.5 x86_64 as guest (hardware virtualization) i see "Kernel panic"...Installation not started: i see install cd's boot menu, press Enter... that's all.
Dom0 kernel: 2.6.18-194.26.1.el5xen, xen 3.0.3 Only standart installation, repo's and update's...
I have Centos 5.1 and im a total newbie. I have managed to get it running with Apache and PHP but after I install mysql it fails to start with the above error. I have removed it as well using YUM and reinstalled it but it still will not start.
I have a VPS running on centos-5-x86 and mysql server went down two days ago this is my mysql server log
110602 18:28:09 mysqld started InnoDB: The log sequence number in ibdata files does not match InnoDB: the log sequence number in the ib_logfiles! 110602 18:28:14 InnoDB: Database was not shut down normally! InnoDB: Starting crash recovery.
I am installing a cluster which is hidden from the rest of the world and there is no router either froma general login node. I would therefore require a local repository of the updates to CentOS5.4. When I checked I only found instructions for a full mirror. As I have no room and neither the human resources to setup and maintain a full-blown mirror, this is not a solution. However if I try to find updates for 5.4 to download in a repository-type of way I fail to find a solution. Maybe I am just not looking in the right places.
I use web server apache use php fastcgi (Centos 5.2, apache 2.2.9 , php 5.2.5 and fcgi-2.2.4 ). I receive error : "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. contact the server administrator, no-reply@zz.vn and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. I view log :
I have mounted an NFS share with ISO images on my kvm Server. If i connect such a iso to a VM (using virt-manager) for installing a operating system i get the following error on startup: Error starting domain: internal error Process exited while reading console log output: char device redirected to /dev/pts/1 qemu: could not open disk image /mnt/iso/public/Linux/Distributions/Debian/debian-504-amd64-netinst.iso: Permission denied
The problem is definitly that kvm (or qemu or libvirt-bin, i don't know) tries to set permissions (rwx owner for libvirt-qemu, --- for kvm group, --- for other) on the file, although it has read permissions. Is it possible to change this behavior?
Gnome sessions started hanging during login on a debian lenny box, and I can only think it's related to a recent package update as it was working fine before the last set. It affects all user accounts and hangs before the applications menu or any icons appear on the panels, but after after the top /bottom panels and the desktop background appears.
I'm trying to create a new gdm session in tty8, so I can switch between tty7 and tty8 running simultaneously.
How can I accomplish this? I found some website suggesting to run startx and also startx gnome-session -- :1 vt8 Both result in a black screen, blocking the overall system, not allowing me to go to tty1 nor any tty. I have to run REINSUB to restart the system.
# I don't know if tty is the exact term to refer to the CTRL+ALT+Fx virtual terminals.
When KDE starts up a new session, it restores the progs that were running at log out last time.I am running skype and that prog is brought back but I suspect that KDE is restarting the "bin" (skype-bin) rather than the startup script (skpe) which contains the necessary "LD_PRELOAD" stuff essential to get the webcam operating OK.I can't find where KDE stores the session info, any ideas?
After update in Lucid, cant start the session. As only critical part was Nautilus (on 2.31), how to fix it? I don't have in GDM any session option and no way to approach to terminal and start any session. Only way can be somehow before GDM (Lucid by default don't have Grub) or via Live USB (but how?).
I am trying to VNC into a server to which I have no physical access (but I can ask someone to start a session or something) but can ssh into. I have gotten a VNC session working by sshing in and running vncserver, although once the VNC session died in a confusing manner.
I don't know how to start a VNC session any way but vncserver, which is odd since I'm sure that Ubuntu's Remote desktop should somehow allow me to do this by default. The server by the way is being used as a desktop by someone else. Also, how do I tell if my VNC is encrypted and if it isn't how do I make sure it is?
one month I switch the workspaces(desk1 to desk2), and open some applications, then I tried to save them. till now even I close them always, but they appear after each startup.
