Ubuntu Networking :: Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Not Working
May 31, 2010I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 on a Gateway M520 laptop, and after failing to get the Broadcom wireless chip that came with it working I swapped it out for an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get wireless to work. The chip doesn't appear to be turned on (it is detected though), and the hotkey to switch wireless on/off (Fn+F2) doesn't work in Ubuntu. I also am not sure if I have the proper drivers to get the chip working with Ubuntu, and I'm not sure how to figure that out.
Since I've noticed it's asked for a lot, here's the output for iwconfig:

May 12, 2009I was trying to update the drivers for my wireless card and it no longer works. I have a cisco pcmcia card that I got working to use as a backup, but I would prefer to use my internal card. The card is the Intel Pro 2200BG. Please let me know what information is needed to diagnose and correct this issue. I am relatively new to Linux (Currently using F10) and trying to learn.This is the iwconfig from my cisco card. The Intel card was working fine yesterday. but now doesn;t even show up.

Ubuntu Networking :: Intel 2200BG WiFi Card Won't Connect?
Jul 25, 2010I have an old Toshiba Satellite A30 Notepad. I've installed Ubuntu 10.04 onto it and everything but WiFi works. I've installed wicd and several other network tools but just can't get Ubuntu to let me use the WiFi connection (the option is greyed out).I know the card works because the last OS (Windows XP) used it without any problems. The card is detected, the drivers are installed and the hardware (slider) switch is set to on.I think the issue is related to the Radio Frequency Kill Switch being on but I don't know how to turn it off.The output from various commands are:

Mar 22, 2010I have Dell 1537 laptop having Intel 5100 wireless card. It is not supported by Fedora 9. I have tried downloading the driver iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.24.2.12.tgz from URL...Downloads and copied it to folder /lib/firmware and rebooted the machine. But still it is not detected by the system. Is there any solution to this problem .

Nov 1, 2010I have an Acer Laptop and I am trying to use Linux Redhat 5 on it but for some reason the NIC is not detected by Linux. It is a bit surprising to me that the same problem was seen in my desktop computer but after changing the NIC to a different slot the Linux OS detected the NIC and it is working fine but my laptop still has the same problem.
From troubleshooting point of view:
1. Installed Linux multiple times but it didn't work.
2. Tried to add the hardware (NIC) but it didn't work.
Note: The NIC was working fine when I first installed Linux but after sometime it didn't. The laptop is dual boot (Windows & Linux) when I boot via windows the NIC works fine but not with Linux.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Card Dormant Until Wired Connection Detected?
Feb 2, 2011I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

Dec 31, 2010I have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.

Feb 17, 2011I am running openSUSE 11.3 updated with all the latest patches and I cannot connect to my wireless router. I am running Linux Mint 10 on the same type of notebook HP Compaq 6910p and it worked right after the install. If I take off the security WPA & WPA2 Personal I can connect. lspci -v | less shows this for my wireless card.

I am using the same settings for both notebooks just can't figure out why openSUSE 11.3 won't connect. I get the prompt to key in my password, I've even checked the box to show password to make sure I was keying it in correctly. Everything was good but it just goes right back to the password prompt after it fails trying to connect.

Apr 8, 2010I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

Jun 6, 2010The wireless on my 64-bit openSUSE-11.2 installed on my Dell Studio 1537 laptop stopped working some time back (possibly more than a one or two months back). I just discovered this last week when on business. I have not used the wireless under openSUSE-11.2 for a while so I am not certain what broke it, but I am suspicious of an update. I note openSUSE-11.3 milestone-7 works great with the wireless (on a liveCD). I note possibly two related threads, although I note no failed request for firmware in my case:request for firmware file 'iwlwifi-5000-2.ucode' failed [INTEL 5300 AGN] [OPENSUSE 11.2] - openSUSE Forums, and I see another thread here: Suddenly No Wireless Network Card - openSUSE Forums... but I can not tell if what I have is the same problem, so I did not add to those threads. In my case I can scan for the network, and see the SSID. An ip address is assigned. But a ping does not work.
