I have installed Skype 2.1 (Beta) in linuxmint Julia, now when I am communicating with anyone or video conferencing, I am able to hear the other person but the other person is unable to hear my voice, I talked with someone else who is facing the same problem in Ubuntu.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu Maverick on an Intel H55 mobo. I have the sound configured to output through speakers on my monitor, via HDMI. That has been working fine. Last night I installed Skype (2.1.0.81) in order to chat to someone back in UK. When I go to the sound devices configuration in Skype, each of the devices (Microphone, Speakers and Ringing) only have a single choice: 'PulseAudio server (local)'.
In order to get my usb-connected phone handset working with Skype I have had to go to the main sound preferences and alter both input and output to '9980 Analog'. This works fine - I can make a Skype test call and playback my own voice. However, all my system sounds now go out on the usb phone handset - also the Skype ring goes to the handset, which is pretty useless because it can't be heard from more than a couple of feet away.
How can I make Skype use the 9980 device for voice in and out, and use the system speakers 'Internal Audio Digital (HDMI)' for the ringing, while leaving all the system sounds to go out on the HDMI output too? I'm sure that I managed to make Skype work much better on an older system (using Gutsy, or Intrepid???). It seems, to me that there is a lack of fine audio control in my system.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 and would like to use WebCamStudio with Skype 2.1 beta for ubuntu 32 bit. I though skype displays WebCamStudio as one of the webcams its not able to stream output of WebCamStudio to other person...
View 2 Replies View RelatedOne issue that I'm having with Fedora that's stopping me from dropping Windows altogether is that I can't seem to get my audio in line to play directly to my speakers.
Basically, I've got my games console set up so that it uses the desktop computer's speakers as audio output, and is also plugged in to the same monitor and I can change the source depending on what I want to use it for.
I know the hardware works, as the whole thing works fine when using Windows (XP SP3), and I can still record from the audio in line using Fedora (so I can record me playing the game, then play it back and hear it through the speakers), but I've got no idea as to how to redirect the game sounds directly to the speakers.
Interestingly, every tutorial I've found so far suggests that the opposite should be the problem, and that the situation that I want to be in should be enabled by default. That said, I've been tinkering with the audio packages and whatnot long before I tried using the machine for gaming, so maybe I managed to inadvertently remove a package some time ago.
I Tried to play video files (.avi & .vob) in Kaffeine, but was unableo hear any audio. Then i went to the packmn site and installed the packageom there, with no positive results.After that i installed VLC and then tried playing.

When I hit the talk button the program goes grey. I have wine installed with Yahelite but when I open up YahVox I get the box open and no one is in there. Ycabby does not work for so I download the three cabs and extracted the files and copped the files to the system32 folder. I tried to the mighty google but I get a whole lot of nothingness.

Skype informs me that I must change my settings from Pulse audio to ALSA using a program called pavucontrol. View 5 Replies View RelatedI've installed a tv card but I can't hear the sound through my built-in CMedia soundcard when I watch tv with TVTime. The tv card's audio output is externally connected to my soundcard's line in input. In the 'Input' tab of the 'Sound Preferences' dialog, I can see the input level meter moving.
Audacity can record the tv sound, and I can hear it when I have the 'pass-through' option enabled, or when I play the recording.
I can play media files without a problem, and I can hear the system sounds.
But for some reason I can't get the tv sound to go through to the soundcard's output.
Obviously I've got the audio configured wrong, but I don't know what to do to fix it.
I am unable to hear any sound at all using my M-audio delta 44 soundcard (which works fine in Windows - Dual boot).how I can get this working?

The audio configuration sound test and the answer to the question No returns a message that says: automatic detection of sound card did not work. I am not sure what else is needed to diagnose the problem.
whenever I video chat with someone the image from my webcam is clear but the video from the person on the other end is messed up. It is as if it does not render correctly, it's washed out and it looks like a full image and 2 cut off images, one on the bottom and one the top of the full image. Has anyone else encountered this? The PC has a Radeon 9800 Pro AGP card with the ATI drivers installed. Other video plays fine, ....., dvd, avi and mkvs.

But my speaker hasn't produce the sound ( I am using external speakers). I can play ..... videos, games and things like that, during this time my speaker will produce the sound.
But If I try to play mp3 songs from the net, It hasn't produce any sound. I can't hear the sound using head set also for this mp3 songs. What may be the problem please help me ?

I have just installed ubuntu 10.04 and followed that up with Skype. I am running skype 2.1.0.81, downloaded from skype website.
Problem is that my mic which is integrated does not work. On the skype test call, i can hear alright, but when i speak can't hear myself. I have diabled auto ajust mic setting in Skype, but still no joy.
I am looking for a good alternative to Skype. I would like to have video and voice calls with a family member who uses MS XP but would like to avoid Skype if possible. Does anyone know of a good client with good video and voice quality that will work on both platforms. I'd like it to use open standards so at least we can use different OS specific clients if one is not available for both platforms. Googling hasn't yielded much and some of the results refer to really old (~2006) articles or apps. I hope I'm not doomed to using Skype. I've resisted so long with using SIP clients for voice but am stumped now that I want to include video.
