Ubuntu :: Can't Hear Myself Whan I Speak In Skype Mic / Solve This?
Sep 19, 2010
I have just installed ubuntu 10.04 and followed that up with Skype. I am running skype 2.1.0.81, downloaded from skype website.
Problem is that my mic which is integrated does not work. On the skype test call, i can hear alright, but when i speak can't hear myself. I have diabled auto ajust mic setting in Skype, but still no joy.
I can hear myself speak in the mic but Ubuntu is not recording/capturing the sound. Actions Taken: I followed all the steps listed here for the Alsa update script. I've also tried changing my /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.config file with the following configurations one at a time.
[code]...
My capture settings are 'on' in alsamixer as in they are in red with the words CAPTURE underneath it.
I recently bought a IOgear USB bluetooth adapter and a Sony DRBT101/BLK bluetooth headphones to use with my computer.Whenever I try to make a call using these headphones with skype, I can speak for say 10 seconds and then the headset disconnects completely from the system. I then have to reconnect the headset by switching it off and on. I do not have this problem listening to music using A2DP. It works fine with my mobile phone. When I change the profile to Telephony Duplex (HSP/HFP), it shows up as hands free, I thought it should be headset in blueman manager. My friend uses Plantronics headset with is Dell laptop with built in bluetooth and he says his comes up as headset not hands free. Could this be causing the problem?
I had download and installed Skype nomally. But when using Skype, I only heard what my friend said, and he couldn't heard I said (it mean I can hear but can't say with my friend)
I run skype, I have to connect/disconnect at least 3 times for the other person to be able to hear me , not see, just hear. and very often during this process skype crashes. and the video quality is just terrible compared to when i use to run skype on windows from the same machine. I ran skype from the terminal and im just wondering what all this output means
I have installed Skype 2.1 (Beta) in linuxmint Julia, now when I am communicating with anyone or video conferencing, I am able to hear the other person but the other person is unable to hear my voice, I talked with someone else who is facing the same problem in Ubuntu.
I have some troubles with my microphone.I can hear it in ootput if I knock on it or speak, but I can't record from mic. It also does not work in skype.cant figure out what is the problem.
My webcam works at my end but two people have said they can't see me their end using skype. They webcam with other people so i know it is not their settings or anything. One has a mac and the other a windows machine. I really don't have anyone else to test this with as most people i know don't have webcams.
I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) with Skype, and I can't get the microphone to work. I can hear them, but they can't hear me. I tried the same headset with my Windows system, and it works fine, so the headset is OK.
I looked at "Sound Preferences", and noticed that when I click on the "Input" tab, the area where you can adjust the volume is set at the minimum, and grayed out, so I can't adjust it.
I can't hear the music playing on my speakers, BUT i can hear the music playing in my headphones when i insert my headphones jack.
I have tried configuring aslamixer, tried configuring the sound devices but nothing seems to work. i have also installed a lot of music players such as asla player, audacity and so on. i also tried configuring the aslamixer from the terminal but it did's work as well.
I must add that i have linux ubuntu netbook remix 9.10 i386 installed and windows xp home edition sp3. In windows, i have no problem playing any sound. (I am new to linux <2 days> but very experimented with windows <17 years>).
How do I prevent mplayer from sending e-mail by the time mplayer plays the wave file that speaks the time?
Here is the script I use to speak time. I use my natural voice to record like this:
Code:
Last, but not least, I wrote the script:
Code:
Note that I've commented out /bin/cat as a bandage solution to delete mail after mplayer plays the file. I said "bandage solution" because if I have grayson@ubuntu-server forward mail to my e-mail account through SMTP relay, I'm going to be seeing the e-mail messages sent every hour and I need to stop this from happening in the first place.
Example of the mail I've been getting in /var/mail/grayson:
since im modifying keyboard recognition code I figured putting it here was the best place. I am setting up a configuration of keyboard to leet speak, and I am almost finished but I am unsure about some symbols names. I am looking for some symbol names as the keyboard code would recognise, based on american keyboard, and how to execute and print to the display for example ( that symbol is a parenleft, according to keyboard codes and i get it with SHIFT/9
hJust installed brand new Centos 5.6 and skype, according to centos wiki (http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Skype) Getting these errors: skype: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by skype)
Does anybody know a good option for a Skype based solution that works on Linux? I have a real problem with the current Linux version as it is a crappy, buggy and downgraded version of the Windows equivalent.
I just recently purchased a 3g dongle for my netbook. Everything seems to be working fine until I discovered this strange problem. I cant seem to text via skype, it doesnt go through. I testet the skype test call service and voice works fine, audio and mic. I have tried to google and search forums but no luck. I have before used skype on my netbook with my cellphone as a hot spot and it worked without problem but it doesnt have the same provider - different sim cards in phone and dongle.
I have gotten my microphone working, this was an issue for a long time.
Now I can hear myself through my headphones so I know the computer is "hearing" it.
But... I still show "No Input Devices Available" in my Pulse Audio volume control so I'm still not able to record... which of course is my whole point.
I'm having an issue where I can't hear any sounds in Ubuntu 10.04 (64-bit). In the Sounds Preferences, under Hardware it correctly lists "SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio". The sound is not muted, and I've tried cycling through various Profile options in the hardware tab. Since it is correctly detected, I'm thinking that there might be something simple that I'm missing here. The motherboard is an MSI P6N Diamond: [URL]
What I want to do is hook up a mic to my computer and have the sound play through my bluetooth headset. Can this be done? I cant seem to figure out at all. It play fine through the computer speakers but nothing in BT. I have Ubuntu 10.04
Ich have an iMac with ubuntu 10.10. I had a few problems with my sound (it didn't work at first) but then i got it. But only in the Startup screen, where you enter your username. There you hear the startup-sound. When i log in and go to rhytmbox or ....., i don't hear anything. no os-sounds, too.
I have Ubuntu 10.10 installed in a notebook. Everything goes gone but the sound output, I can only hear the built in speakers, and I didn't find the headset output controls. I know there's no more mechanical switch as in the past, I mean, when you plug the headset it's is detected by the OS and the sound should come from that output, instead of the speakers, but that's not my case.
When I'm in mozilla, and click to listen a link that contains a sound (mp3 for example), it doesn't play. For example, when i'm in [URL], and click to Listen, it doesn't play why?
I can hear the sound of my files from any other program. However, Banshee 2.0 (the Ubuntu new player) seems to have a bug or something, and I can hear anything.
