I am trying to install Mercurial using apt-get on a web server running Debian. I would prefer to have the latest stable version of Mercurial but I would be happy with anything reasonably recent. I tried entering the command sudo apt-get install mercurial and I got the following response:
I tried running sudo apt-get -f install and got some more stat-related errors and a suggestion to run apt-get update. (Let me know if you need to know more details)
I tried sudo apt-get update and got several 404 errors followed by this:
How can I install Mercurial?

I'm trying to setup a mercurial code sharing server on an Ubuntu machine but I can't figure out how to get it running. I'm setting up this server on a LAN so I don't want any security. Another thing I should mention is that I'm using Netbeans to code in Java. how use mercurial and tortoise (I've got them installed).

Code:
/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/mercurial/lock.py:71: DeprecationWarning: use lock.release instead of del locklocker = self.testlock()
I found a couple of person who had the same problem but i can't find a solution.

I successfully installed OpenSUSE on a 4gb pen drive using the instructions contained within this portal. However, for the life of me I can't figure out why the persistent feature doesn't work.
Here's my partition table map:
Disk /dev/sda: 80.0 GB, 80026361856 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 9729 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

I have a box already has openSuse 11 32bits installed. I want to replace it with openSuse 11 64 bits. When I insert the openSuse 11 64 bits CD, I got error message "this is a 32 bit computer. Can not use 64 bit software". so How do I wipe out the old OS (32 bits), and install new OS (64 bits)?

I just want a simple email notifier. I have started to use Ubuntu 10.10 and seem to have downloaded Gmailwatcher - it shows in Applications/Internet/Gmailwatcher. But it doesn't show as installed software in the Installed Software Centre. So, I cant uninstall it. I can't configure it? If I try to open Gmailwatcher I receive a popup asking me to open it from an icon above - but there's no icon there, I just want a simple email notifier - preferably one which I can add an audio alert.

I had installed openSuSE 11.0 and then installed XEN using 'Install hypervisor and Tools' which is present in Computer -> YaST -> Virtualization.
After that I rebooted the machine in XEN mode[Dom 0]. There I installed a Virtual machine[Dom U] with OpenSuSE 11.0 Operating system using the option 'Create Virtual machine'which is present in Computer -> YaST -> Virtualization.
VM[Virtual Machine] got installed successfully and started running in TightVNC. I shutdown the VM and restarted it and it started running successfully.
After that I shutdown XEN[Dom 0] and restarted the machine in XEN mode again to run Virtual machine[Dom U]. But this time I got the below error when I selected the 'Run' option in installed VM.

I have just updated my system from openSuse 11.1 to openSuse 11.2, all is working fine. Now I would like to install the Adobe Reader program downloading it from the official website. I can use Evince to see PDF files... Unfortunately Evince shows strange defects over the images contained in the PDF file (strange white vertical lines and other little things).
I want try to use the original Adobe reader to check if those defects will go away so I can print the document (on Windows the pdf file is displayed perfectly). I have gone to this address to download the latest version:
Adobe - Adobe Reader : For Unix : Adobe Reader 9.3.1 Linux and Solaris update - multiple languages
When I presse the "Download" button I go to another page. In this page I select the 9.3.1 version and then the "enu" directory (I suppose that "enu" stays for "english", I'm right? )
After that I block myself; as I see there are only i386 and i486 version available, but I have the i586 architecture. This means that the Adobe Reader is not available for my Linux system? Maybe I have got the wrong download address?

I Wonder why nspluginwrapper is installed on a 32 bit openSUSE system by default. It does not cause too many problems but at least the xine-browser-plugin and the acrobat reader plugin seem to work better without it. I thought the only reason for nspluginwrapper was to run 32 bit plugins on a 64 bit system, but then why does a 32 bit version even exist?

I tried out DockBarx on my previous Ubuntu computer and really liked it. I installed openSUSE not too long ago and I just decided it's about time to get it back! However, I'm having some trouble installing it. My initial attempt was to simply download the tarball of dockbarx from GNOME-Look, untar it and run setup.py. Unfortunately, it will not run for me..not as root, standard user, anything. I do have Python-Base installed, and my "cnf python" does return a successful response. My PATH has /python's location in it and everything.I then tried the .rpm but I need to install python-keybinder, pyxdg and dbus, but I cannot find any downloads or repo's with it. I could simply be missing it though. So, basically, I'm asking all of you who have successfully installed it on your openSUSE system to inform me on how you did it.

I just recently configured my cmake and system to finally be able to cmake && make && make install stuff. I did it specifically for the Smooth-Tasks plasmoid. Everything went smoothly on the install, and it appears that everything went the way it should.
Now, my problem is that it does not display in my Widgets window when I click "Add Widgets..." How do I get my self-installed Plasmoid to appear on this list, or at least be useable on my desktop?
I'm on openSuse 11.3 using KDE 4.4 btw.
