Ubuntu :: Delete / Uninstall Workspace Themes?

Aug 3, 2010

Occasionally my theme changes from Air back to Oxygen or another theme I had installed (using 10.04). I'm not sure why it does this. So I would like to know how to delete/uninstall a theme. I'm using the System Settings gui under the Appearance menu in KDE. There is a button to install new themes, and I can choose a different theme by clicking on it, but I would like to permanently remove a couple themes I have installed.

In case anyone else has seen themes randomly change from Air back to Oxygen, that is another discussion I would be interested in.

Fedora :: KDE Themes Installed But Can't Find Them

Nov 25, 2010

I recently added new themes for KDE from get new themes login manager. When I click on install new themes I have no clue where they are located? Not really new to fedora but far from being an expert and could use some help in many areas of the system. Most thing I have been able to figure out but some things just make no sense to me. I've configured many Linux systems but never for my own use and customization like desk tops, themes and such.

Ubuntu :: Applications Jump From Their Workspace To The Current Workspace

Jul 20, 2011

I believe I may have found a bug in Unity. Under the right circumstances an application will jump from the workspace where I left them to my current workspace. This is most noticeable with VirtualBox. I built an Ubuntu 11.04 virtual machine so that I could test out new packages before I push them out to the rest of my machines. But the window for the virtual machine constantly appears in my current workspace. It may take a few minutes, or 30 minutes, but it will happen.

I can kind of understand it if a new window appears, but at least with VirtualBox, this happens on a running virtual machine seemingly randomly.

Ubuntu :: System Installed On A External Hard Drive, Themes Aren't Loading?

May 17, 2011

I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal on a External HDD (320GB Samsung S2). Worked like a charm. Bit slow to boot up and load programs, but after a while, works great. I installed it on the external HDD for one purpose: Work anywhere with Ubuntu, no matter which computer I use. I was thinking that was impossible, but I've tested thru several platforms (3 Notebooks, 2 netbooks, all Intel and one AMD Desktop). All worked flawlessly (32 Bits PAE activated and no matter how many cores are active, just works), BUT the themes. For no apparent reason, themes works on the computer I've installed Ubuntu on the HDD. It has his own Internal HDD with Windows 7 and two NTFS partitions.

Themes are stuck to the default boring-white from Gnome. I can only change the window controls. Compiz works, Wireless works, video works, sound works, filesystem works, system works - themes fail. Feels like I've hit my feet's little finger on a chair. P.S.: Ext. HDD is partitioned like this: 300GB FAT32 (it's my pop's HDD, he wants it this way), 18GB EXT4, 2GB Swap.

I would like to install a new icon theme without effecting my currently selected panel theme, as i think the Ambience panel theme looks really nice and unified but im not too keen on the Ubuntu-Mono icons. Is this easily possible, without going into my icon folders and replacing all the instances of one style for another? Are there any applications for gnome icon theming like OS X's Candybar?Im sure others must desire to change only the icons and perhaps it is really easy and this is why i couldnt dig anythin up on google, that or im a useless googler.

Also whatever theme I use , Controls would stay same(Classic controls). They wouldn't be update to those of the Theme used.

OpenSUSE :: OpenSUSE 11.3 GNOME Workspace Shortcuts

On the default GNOME installation, I noticed there were no option in Keyboard Shortcuts to bind keys to switch to specific workspaces (I.E. <ctrl>1 to switch to workspace 1, <ctrl>2 for workspace 2, etc).

I tried editing the entries in GNOME Configuration Editor under apps->metacity->global_keybindings, but the bindings weren't working.

how to set these? I'm somewhat new to openSUSE and Linux in general.

This is a relatively fresh install. Anyway, no matter what GTK+ theme I select (with Sonar and oxygen-gtk also being available), it always defaults back to Raleigh. I've tried restarting x, logging out and in, rebooting, and reinstalling oxygen-gtk to no avail. If it matters, I found that qtcurve-gtk2 and qtcurve-kde4 weren't installed (before I did all of the troubleshooting) so I installed them, although there was no change in the situation (and neither show up as options).
