View 9 Replieswhere's the nautilus app that i want to use to link to the "open containing folder" option within the download menu. For some reason it's as if it's completely forgotten it. After searching for nautilus, i didn't see one single file that looked like it was the main part of nautilus to link to, there was a myriad of files to choose from and i thought it'd be better to ask here and quicker than to try each one out myself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSwiftfox does not have default file handling, and thus I cannot open files from the download menu. When I go to choose the program I want to open the file with, it just takes me to my Home folder in Nautilus. I have no idea where to find the programs I need (Image Viewer, Open Office, and Movie Player are the main ones I need).
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just installed 11.3 on my mother's laptop. I downloaded and installed Swiftfox, but there's no evidence of it in the menu. I can double-click the Swiftfox.desktop icon in /usr/share/applications, and Swiftfox runs properly. However, it's not listed in the KDE menu.Is there a way to manually update the menu?I didn't have this problem with the previous version of openSuse on this computer. But I did a fresh install, rather than update to 11.3.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've installed 11.4 on the laptop. So far there hasn't been a huge leap of difference between the 11.3 and 11.4. But now I can't use Skype. It's installed and all of that. But whenever I open it, nothing happens.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAnyone else notice that the recent updates have trashed Swiftfox? Here's the error message: Quote: MozPlugger: Error: Too many types (32) for handler 22 (application/vnd.sun.xml.writer:sxw:OpenOffice Writer 6.0 documents)
Opera, Seamonkey and Firefox all work fine and if I open Firefox and then open Swiftfox, it's working just fine, so apparently FF handles the OpenOffice, etc., issues for it. It still fails if you have opened Seamonkey or Opera first.
I have a strange problem with Swiftfox. I am using Ubuntu 9.10 with Swiftfox 3.6, and OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.6.1). I can not get Swiftfox recognize the JRE plugin. I have a symlink at /usr/lib/swiftfox/plugins/ that points to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.15/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so and still Swiftfox would not recognize my JRE. The same symlink is at /usr/lib/mozulla/plugins

Having just upgraded, I am having this exact problem.
I enabled java and flash in Iceweasel 3.5.16 via the related/required packages in the repository so flash-nonfree (or whatever it is) and the related java one. I didn't install either flash or java manually so no plugins that way. Flash and java works in Iceweasel. If I wanted to try Swiftfox, what do I do? I have it installed but both flash and java don't work.
I assume that one has to do the manual installs for both so go to both Flash and Java official sites and install the related Linux package. Will this conflict with my Iceweasel-based java/flash packages? Or do they go in separate directories and files? I don't want a conflict or interference and thus, don't want to break what's working.
But I couldn't find a modified version of it for Swiftfox anywhere, so I decided to modify it myself. But I'm not 100% sure that I did it correctly, so I thought I'd ask here.
Also, will Swiftfox 3.6.4 be able to use this same profile? I thought it might not because of the new "Out of process plugins" feature being added.
So i downloaded swiftfox and its great. its just not loading downloads with the specified applications when i click them, i.e. opening .deb, .jpg, .txt, it asks me to chose an application (list is empty, so you have to set a custom application)

We have a digital signage appliance built on SUSE 11.3 with a LAMP server that uses the flashplayer application to play a .swf file from localhost. It is a AOpen GP7A mini pc that has the nVidia drivers loaded. We have lots of customers that have been running the exact same system for over 6 months (we image the drive for each sale).
For some reason, my last customer is seeing the following problem shown below, and this linux configuration is way over my head. Everything else is working (local LAMP server is working, communicating with our production servers to get information works, etc). I have verified that it is screen 0 that is running (at least it shows with Ctrl-Alt-F7). I thought that it may have occurred because of updating the software with zypper up. I had the customer rebuild from the image being careful not to upgrade the software. The result was the same. The pc is a newer version compared to my bench pc, but there are multiple other customers running that same version just fine. So I am not sure if it is
The command is issued by a php script that is run in a root cron job. As I said, it works great on all other customer pc's including my bench system. I also tried to execute the command on a ssh terminal as the root user with the same result. I also upgraded my bench pc and it still worked properly.
The command being executed is sudo env DISPLAY=:0 XAUTHORITY=/home/svision/.Xauthority flashplayer http://localhost/flash/sign.swf &
the result (when run in terminal) is: No protocol specified (flashplayer:15077): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display: :0
First of all I must say that I am new to Debian, but not newbie on Linux. I am the Arch Linux user too, and I managed to solve identical problem on Arch. So, as I want to try Debian I am facing the same problem again. Problem is that my GPU is overheating. I am using Ati open source driver. I installed it following the procedure on Debian wiki. On Arch I solved it with proprietary driver fglrx. I tried the same solution here but it doesn't work. So I am stuck with open source drivers.
The difference between Arch and Debian (fglrx vs. Ati open source) is 10 C degrees. Debian Ati open source is much hotter. And ofc I am facing the low battery life too, because of this. My laptop is using much higher energy consumption with open source driver (almost double). How can I check my energy consumption on Debian? I read about some xorg options. I tried it, but no effect. As I am on Debian testing I am using kernel 2.6.32. Does this kernel supports xorg video energy consumption options?
I am a complete newcomer to Ubuntu (or Linux in general for that matter) although I have many years' experience of Windows. It seems to me that the Base application of the open office suite of programs has not been installed by default. Why is this? And how do I install it in Ubuntu 9.1?
