Jul 5, 2011
regarding installing the rabbitvcs on Fedora 15 64 bit. I managed to install it on Fedora 14 using the following link: http://wiki.rabbitvcs.org/wiki/install/fedora but I did not get success on Fedora 15. Nautilas does not show the options in its context menu.

install the RabbitVCS on openSuse 11.4. I followed the link at RabbitVCS site: http://wiki.rabbitvcs.org/wiki/install/opensuse but I did not get any success. There are also steps for openSuse 11.2 and 11.4 combined but there is no repository accessible using the given links. The main problem is RabbitVCS requires Python 2.6 but in openSuse there is Python 2.7 and that is the reason why I am not been to install it.

I install RabbitVCS in Debian 7.8 x64 using this command:
$ apt-get install rabbitvcs-core rabbitvcs-nautilus rabbitvcs-gedit rabbitvcs-cli
I opened nautilus from gnome-terminal, then (With the options in context menu of right click) I realized a checkout, and when I click on the option "commit" nothing happens. But on terminal I receive the error shown in this screenshot...

I'm suffering from an issue of RabbitVCS. I need to follow a big SVN respority, which has about ~20k files (or more), and when I click on the folder, nautilus just freezes for a while because of RabbitVCS. I'm using ubuntu 10.10 x64, using the very last RabbitVCS froum launchpad, and I've 4gb of ram so memory should not be an issue I guess. Is there an good alternative SVN browser except KdeSVN and RapidSVN?

I'm trying to install Fedora 12 i386 using CD#1 for a minimal install. For that during installation I selected only Base. For some reason when I started installation it was trying to install 432 packages (Base has got about 80 or so packages). i can understand there might be some dependencies, but really that much? I kept going with the installation of 432 packages, but it finally failed on gtk2-immodule-xim-2.18.3-19.fc12.i686.rpm.I need just minimal install, so I can install LXDE later on by myself.

My laptop is currently running on Windows 7 Ultimate. I have a 320 GB HDD, which I have partitioned as follows. C: Drive as Windows 40 GB capacity and successively partitioned the rest of the drives for 50 GB capacity and left an unallocated space of 67 GB for fedora 13 x64 installation. The problem that I am facing is, that I am unable to install fedora on this unallocated space..even though I am checking the option for "Creating custom Layout". When I check the option for "Creating Custom Layout" Ive been shown with the only option to install fedora on the unused space on the HDD which is around 265 GB. I am also attaching a screen shot of my disk management. how I can install Fedora on this unallocated space of 67 GB?

This post is for an HP parallel printer but I think it should work for at least "some" other parallel printers.I am sure that someone smarter than me will follow up this post with a "well, just do this and that" and you will have your HP Laserjet 6P printer ready to go, but since questions litter the forums of MANY distros on how to get "at least" an HP parallel printer to work, I'll post this anyway. This may or may not work for you if you do not have an HP but you can try it.The install printer box will let you do an install for an HP Parallel and it asks for how it is to talk to it, through CUPS sock or "local host'. When we get through what I recommend you should chose "local host".

I have a Western Digital Pasport 320 GB hard drive. I wanted to create a live installation on it like a USB stick. I wanted it to serve as a portable OS that I could use to boot any other computer off of, and use it for diagnostics and anti-virus scanning on Windows based computers. The additional space is for my own personal use, kind of like having a mobile desktop where I have all of my documents in one place. What I need to know is how to set up Fedora 11 so that the hard drive will boot on most PCs regardless of their architecture. I also need to know what's a good Anti-virus to install onto it for the sake of fixing Windows hard drives.
Please keep in mind I'm a noob when it comes down to a lot of things, so if there's an antivirus I have to install manually, please included a step by step.

Originally I had Ubuntu running on my machine. I installed windows beta 7 with a working dual boot. Get everything working in grub again. I decided to give Fedora a try and wiped my Ubuntu partition and installed Fedora. Everythings all good...except the reconfiguration of grub has left out my Windows 7 partition (nothing out of the norm) I tried manually adding windows 7 to /boot/grub/menu.lst but it's not working, when I try to boot into Windows 7 i get a little flashing "_" for a really long time and nothing happens.

I am an inexperienced Linux user, I have tried Knoppix and Ubuntu in the past. Since we use Fedora servers at work I have wanted to try Fedora for some time and I tried running it in a virtual machine. My virtual machine is Sun VirtualBox and my OS is Vista Ultimate. Everything worked well until it was time to decide where Fedora is to be installed.Alright, screenshot time yet? This is where I hit the wall, the screen where you select installation drive/partition. The field is greyed out as you can see.
I have prepared a partition, at first I formatted it in FAT32 but because I didn't see it in the installation screen I just re-formatted it in NTFS.Installing with virtual machine should be working? Why is the field grey? What to do? Is it because I have mounted the dowloaded disc image instead of burning it?
I have a 64-bit architecture AMD processor with 2GB RAM and have tried Ubuntu 64-bit in the past, is there a 64-bit version of Fedora and would that be better or worse for me than 32-bit version?

I'm planning to install Fedora 11 Release Candidate on my computer because I really need a working Linux system, right now. Once the final version is released, will I have to do a fresh install or do I just update the packages on my system to get the final version?

I tried a number of times to install dual boot with Win2k. I keep getting errors at the stage of setting up the partition for the install. When I try to choose ext4 it says Fedora cannot be installed on a bootable drive, fix the problem. I don't see how to fix it...it does not say what to do or change.
I have had other linux installed in the same partition without a problem. What gives?
150GB drive for both OS's Separate drive for data, not involved in the install.
| 72GB NTFS Win2K | 76 GB free for ext3 and swap |
LBA support on in Bios.

I've recent begun to want to create a spin of Fedora for my high school to offer as an alternative to Mac OS X and Windows. My first attempt with any distro was to try and use Suse Studio, however nothing with packages that I downloaded myself would successfully compile. I then thought that I might try and use some sort of local program do create it with and tried Revisor, however when I made Live Media, Xorg wouldn't start and when I made DVD Install Media the kernel would kernel panic every time on boot.
Is there anyway to solve the problem with Revisor or are there any alternatives?
I have also tried using Ubuntu with the Ubuntu Customization Kit however that didn't work either considering I have to have it in a virtual machine.

Im taking the class now in college once a week. My professor said that we need to install any Linux operating systems so I chose Fedora, but he said we need at least 16GB free of space to install it in our computer, sadly i only have 1GB space left remaining. I told him about it and he told me about installing Fedora in my flash drive that has space of 16GB. I really am interested in this course and want to understand all of this stuff so can anyone tell me the process to install Fedora into flash drive so I can boot it anywhere else other than home? Also since he said I need 16GB to install it don't I got to buy 32GB flash drive at least?

I am very much a Newbie to Linux/Fedora. Just installed Fedora 10, but having some problems with hardware driver recognition, particularly a wireless network PCI card. ndiswrapper is looking for a kernel in usr/src/kernels, which doesn't exist. In Fedora, is it necessary to compile a kernel? Looking through the FAQ at kernelnewbies, states to extract the kernel to a Linux directory, in usr/src, which also doesn't exist.

im still relatively new to linux and fedora, and i was wondering if it would be possible to install another distro on an external hard disk and keep fedora's grub. i tried this once before but the following things happened: (fedora is on my internal hard disk) the installation to the external hard drive went well, and i set the boot partition to C: because thats the first partition however when i unplugged my external hard drive, and proceeded to boot into fedora, nothing happened. my bios screen flashed and then a blank screen with a cursor. is there anyway to keep Fedora's grub where it is and just install another linux distro without that said distro's grub and add that distro to the grub list in fedora manually? or even boot to my external from the bios itself (because mine can do that)

I have used the same live CD on other systems with incident.Just wondering if there is some thing I could try to reset or start a service setting etc to get the taskbars to show?

sda win xp
sdb Fedora 14
There is a problem (I can see) with F14 install.
In the past the grub was installed during install (since Fedora 6).
Now choosing an install disk "sdb" (install target
drive) requests a drive to be chosen for
bootloader, but if the alternate drive sda is
chosen (this case the XP drive), it is formatted.
I have gone though install many times to see what I missed.
This once worked beautifully. What did I miss?
I now have XP and Fedora 14 installed but I cannot reach Fedora 14.
I had to do a fixmbr to get to XP
Since I cannot reach F14, I cannot get to grub2 and have to use .97
