Fedora :: Post Install Error While Installing Fedora 10?
Nov 17, 2009
I am installing Fedora 10 on my system.After the package installation, a post install screen appears.And the installations halts for a long time and does not proceed further.
I am trying to install fedora 10 kickstart on my server.But I can't, because my kickstart installation hangs at post install scripts.It is not showing any message & stopped.
I just set up Fedora14 on a PC in order to use it as an Amahi home server, but missed the step about adding the Amahi software repository during installation. I am looking for a way to add this repository.I found a support site that should show how to do this here:
[UR]
The first step is: 1. Create /etc/yum.repos.d/amahi.repo as root user I open a terminal, log in as root and enter "/etc/yum.repos.d/amahi.repo", and get the response No such file or directory.
1. Is post installation of the Amahi repository on a completely fresh Fedora14 a viable solution?
2. My experience with Linux/Fedora started yesterday evening - Is it possible to get a newbie proof explanation on how to perform the post installation?
Anyone know of a script to do the usual stuff to Fedora that you may want to do following a fresh installation? Such as... install rpmfusion, install the real adobe flash, install sun's java, etc etc. There's plenty of guides/howto's out there, but I'm about to start working on something like 'winetricks', but for fedora. Thought I'd ask to see if anyone has seen something like that first.
I just upgraded from Fedora F11 to F15. Before making this transition, I backed up my system using my Mac's DVD burn hardware and tested the disk on my F11 system. Ok.After F15 install, the DVD backup won't mount. I've tested a generic DVD from a tech book and this will mount. Ok.What else can I do? hfs-tools is installed. I don't know how to go about troubleshooting this.
So, my second real attempt at getting the 64 bit F11 up and running. I just started adding stuff before all the updates. Crash. So, I'm in the post install phase. Before anything else I installled akmod-nvidia manually, rebooted, and I'm doing yum update right now. I'm hoping many dependencies are solved in the update. There are about 209 line items to update after the initial install. Been updated all afternoon.
So, after the updates are done, I'm heading over to download the different repos I need for the fun stuff. Did you know Java is installed with this first yum update? Wasn't like that in F10. I think I tried 5 times on F10 before I got it right.
I am loving the opensource driver as I don't have to switch to "discrete" mode in BIOS to get 3D support as I would have to with Ubuntu. (M11x has switchable graphics which is not supported by the nvidia proprietary driver for linux) I need some help with the audio though. In case of Ubuntu 10.04 I had to download and install realtek HD drivers for linux from

I cannot do the same for Fedora as I get compile errors.
Quote:
This is after I run the install script as specified in the "Readme".
Here is my system config .
It works. I just realized that sound is heard when the laptop is connected to an external speaker. Internal speakers still don't work. I don't know how to fix this (probably fix the switches somewhere another mixer gui or via command line) and I don't really care as the internal speakers aren't that great and I almost never use them.
I performed a clean install of Fedora 15 from DVD and it goes fine until the end when the install program says to reboot the computer. Once I do that, the computer hangs before Grub loads, i.e. just after all of the BIOS messages, so there isn't any error message to indicate what is wrong. I had no issues with Fedora 14.
trying to install Fedora 10. I'm novice in linux. Nut tryed some distros before, installation/config, fedora 9, Ubuntu 7-8, Suse 10, mandriva. everything was ok. Now i've new rig:
1 DVD install i386 after booting asks me media from where i want install errors: CDinstallation: No Cd drive with installation media HDD installation: can't find boot image (NTFS C: in winXP). 2 DVD install x86_64 same. 3 NetBootCD 2.2. installed on flash with liveusb-creator. once booted (most progress with this one), started formating process, asked root, after again showed me that no media. after again tried to install on USB error "no boot media on POST screen". 4 Billix downloaded USB version, pated on USB stick edited file , changed mirror from i386 to x86_64 can't boot even. 5 Downloaded fedora 10 Live Gnome desktop slipstreamed onto usb stick with liveusb-creator. booted: showed GRUB boot many. choosing boot or verify and boot fedora three lines on boot loading, after it shows me my Ethernet connection like "100mb full duplex link ready" after nothing only this text stays on desktop.
I think what i need to do is update the certifcate for the apache2, but I'm not sure how to do this, where to put it, and then which of the thousand apache config lines needs to be changed
I just upgraded to F15 and it went well. But at the next and each subsequent cold boot the BIOS reports "Your system last boot fail or post interrupted Please enter setup to load default and reboot". The board is an asus P5N-D. I press F1 to blow past the error and all is well until the next cold boot. Restarts are fine, no errors at all.
i have fedora 15 that i updated from fedora 14. i get notification that updates are 73 updates available , i click install i get this error libtool-2.4-4.fc15.x86_64 requires gcc = 4.6.0 : Protected multilib versions: flash-plugin-10.3.183.7-release.i386 != flash-plugin-10.3.162.29-1.x86_64 Protected multilib versions: libgomp-4.6.0-10.fc15.i686 != libgomp- .6.1-8.fc15.x86_64
I've been trying to install mplayer on my rhel 6.0 but its giving me the following error:
Error: The GUI requires libavcodec with PNG support (needs zlib).
Tell me the exact name of the package that contains libavcodec with PNG support/zlib? I tried {yum install libavcodec} and {yum install zlib} respectively but it returns "no package available, nothing to do".
I was noticed the below error message when I was installing the SKYPE linux version downloaded from the official web site of SKYPE. Actually I have already installed the QT4 with the highest version correctly even I can used the QT UI for programming now. But still I faced the problem of lack of libraries afterwards.
[root@IT60 LinuxSoftware]# rpm -ivh skype*.rpm error: Failed dependencies: qt4-x11 >= 4.2 is needed by skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586
Bump: The skype is running fine by the below link. [URL]. This version needn't those QT libraries again? It's strange. In before I was using the version called "skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm" that also downloaded from SKYPE official website. But it's not working as I mentioned above.
I currently have two hard drives. One of them is a dedicated Windows 7 x64 500gb drive. The other, is a 152gb drive that I plan to install Fedora in. When I booted from the live CD, I chose the option to use the entire 152gb disk and to boot from the 152gb disk. I'm not sure if I did something wrong there, but now, GRUB won't detect Windows 7 or Fedora 12.
I would also like to leave the Windows 7 hdd untouched.
I previously had a non-working OpenSUSE installation on the 152gb drive
i'm a newbie to Fedora 12. While d/l the updates and installing I got this error. Where do I start?PS...I'm weening myself off MS so be gentle.

When trying to get wine I do got this error. Missing Dependency: kernel >= 2.6.29.1-52.fc11 is needed by package libdrm-2.4.11-2.fc11.i586 (updates) As I understand I must update my kernel before I can move on. How do I do that? I would want a RPM package if that's available.
