Im just after installing fedora 12 dual boot with windows 7. When I try to find my wireless network the laptop doesn't seem to picking it up. It works perfectly when I connect with a LAN cable.
View 2 RepliesI normally connect to a free wireless project, and did have a Windows box until yesterday when I installed Fedora 10. When I was using Windows, I was able to connect to the unsecured wireless network. Now on Fedora 10, the wireless card is working and is able to pick up signals but the signal strengths are markedly decreased and I am unable to see the network which I usually connected to.I really don't want to go back to Windows.

I can still access Internet through Ethernet using a LAN cable but the network monitor doesn't show list of Wireless networks which my room mate's windows 7 machine easily detects.
If anyone needs more info please provide me the steps to perform to find that out
This is only for Lucid and Maverick, as there's no 0.8.1 builds for other releases in this ppa. Why?
Because today there seems to be a fuss about 3g usb-modems. And as of network-manager version 0.8.1, there is added support for those and some more.

Lucid ships with an earlier version and there's a ppa for daily builds (that could break, so use it on need-only-basis).

And the main reason I installed it, bluetooth DUN support. So far it has been working great with Lucid on 32bit architecture, and I don't have to disconnect the modem between boots, or after suspend/resume.
I am trying to configure a Travelmate 2490 to connect to my wirelessr router, a TP-Link TL-WR941ND. It does not show up in the list when I use network manager. However when I look to see if there is a driver for my wireless network in the computer it seems to find one. I am quite a beginner so some basic troubleshooting would be great.

The only problem with 9.04 is that it was unsupported and I couldn't install the packages I wanted to such as Cairo dock so I decided to upgrade to 9.10 which is a lot better. However I ran into a problem that I never had on 9.04. I cant connect to MY wireless network (my Belkin wireless card can detect networks but not mine) I have a netgear router WNDR3700v2 with WPA2 encryption. I thought that the encryption was the problem so I turned it off and ubuntu could still not find the SSID through the network manager. My SSID broadcast is on.

View 9 Replies View RelatedTo start off I have a Rosewill rnx-n2x wireless adapter and a Dlink 4500 router. The problem is, the wireless network manager detects every wireless router in the neighborhood, except mine. I see this persons, and this persons, but no "My router Not yours". I even tried doing the hidden network setup and still nothing.
I have read that the rnx n2x isnt supported by linux, although I've seen solutions to make it work (which didn't work, mkdir command kept getting denied during make) link to what I'm talking about: [URL]. What I don't get though, is that if the rnx n2x isnt supported by linux, wouldn't I not be getting my neighbors connections to begin with?
I installed the b43 drivers to enable the monitor mode for using kismet. but after installing, it shows "Device not Ready".

I have a wireless PCMCIA card.The model of the wireless card is NL-2511CD EXT2(ETSI).When I insert that card to the PCMCIA slot a window pops up and ask for a WEP key. My wireless router is configured with WPA but above pop-up has no WPA option. I suspect my fedora installation does not have the necessary driver for my wireless card.I want to install that driver. I can transfer that file to the machine via thumb drive since it has no network connection yet. How do I install this? Please refer below images as I'm still a newbie at linux.

I updated the firmware for my driver but apparantly the driver is still not working. Broadcom has a driver from their website for Linux 32 bit systems. Should I attempt to install it? I read a post where the driver is built into the system kernel. If so I would need to blacklist the one of the drivers. Correct?

I have a wifi usb adapter and it is recognized and everything, however, i cannot seem to find/enable wireless and the wireless tab in the network manager is greyed out. Also, from reading other posts i believe there should be an option to 'Enable wireless' when left clicking the network interface icon in the toolbar. All I see is is 'Enable networking'.

I had Ubuntu installed before and it worked fine. As far as I can tell all drivers and firmware are working fine so i just need to enable wireless networking i believe.
Every time I start up my Samsung NC10 the wifi doesn't seem to find my wireless router at all and instead tries to connect to my printers network. To solve this I need to disable and re-enable wireless until it automatically connects. I know this isn't exactly a major problem, it's just getting pretty annoying. I'm using Fedora 11 btw.

Since I updated software (without reading what was to be updated), yesterday, I am unable to even find wireless networks, although I am, as you can see, able to access through eth0 It is not a hardware problem, as I can not only find them, but access them on Ubuntu 9.10 live disc. View 5 Replies View RelatedIssue: Using Fedora-14-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso, I created a live usb and tried it on Dell M6400. I can boot into F14, see the internal hard-drive and other usb drives -- but F14 will not go on the network -- neither wired or wl networks.
I am not sure what additional information I need to provide to help resolve this issue. Perhaps some background info would help?: I am trying to move from XP to linux on the M6400. The latest Ubuntu live CD would not boot, the latest CentOS live CD could not find the internal drive; I got best results with the latest Fedora (and I am more comfortable with the F14 gnome interface than the F14 KDE, the Ubuntu, and the CentOS interfaces). I do not know how to investigate the inability of F14 to detect the ethernet cabled network. I was unsuccessful in my attempts to get the wireless to work: "lspci -nn" shows BCM4322 802.11a/b/g/n 14e4:4326 (rev01). I read [URL]../docs/linux_sta/README.txt and used what I learned in my attempts. Installing broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-1.fc13.noarch.rpm, kmod-wl-2.6.35.6-48.fc14.x86_64-5.60.48.36-2.fc14.2.x86_64.rpm, and kmod-wl-5.60.48.36-2.fc14.2.x86_64.rpm (found at rpmfusion) did not help. I tried to build and install the sources from http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php; the machines I had for building were 2.6.28-18-generic Ubuntu, fc5, and rhel5 -- attempts with these builds failed too.
got a new MoBo today. dropped it in and powered it up to find no network connection. when I dig though network manager I find no network devices, same with "network configuration" lspci gives:

ifconfig gives just the "lo" device. is there a hardware detection step I'm missing? I should mention this is a swap of one onboard NIC for another.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm running OpenSuse 11.4 with kernel (2.6.37.1-1.2-desktop i686) and KDE 4.6.00 "release 6".When I first installed the system the KNetworkManager found my wireless network. After entering my details it suddenly couldn't find it any more and hasn't found it since (even after re-install). My network is definitely working. I did try and set it up with ifup but it still couldn't find any network. Unfortunately I don't know anything about networks even less about wireless ones. Many thanks in advance.

Yesterday I installed the live-CD Fedora 10 on a new partition in another hard drive and so I have Fedora 10 but WITHOUT Internet connection.
I tried to install Ndiswrapper but the 'make' command doesn't exist in my Fedora 10 !

Just installed f14 on my Toshiba laptop, which has a realtek ethernet card. i installed the drivers from the realtek site with no issues (also, i know the card is good, i had it working on suse a while back). No matter what I try, i cannot seem to get the computer to recognize there being a wireless connection (tells me no such thing as wlan0).ifconfig shows the following:

I installed Nvidia drivers according to the post in HowTos section. It downloaded a different version of the existing kernel, i guess. And the kernel using which I downloaded, when shows up GUI, looks like a Safe Mode of Windows. So I boot the kernel that it downloaded. And there the problem is that in Network Manager applet, it doesn't show me the wireless connections. It doesn't even show the Enable Wireless checkbox upon right clicking it. How to get it back?

I find any wireless networks, except mine. Moreover, my wifi works, because I can surf with the university connection.But the network works, because I can connect to it both with Windows and with Ubuntu.I have a Broadcom 4321 like wireless network card, opensuse 11.4 and the default network manager.
