Of course it works in WXP. I have a headset with a microphone, nothing uncommon. In Sound Preferences, in Input tab, the volume is disabled, and there's no Device for sound inout to choose. ?

I have created a daemon which is being run as a system service at boot, and the start command goes well. When I login after boot and check with
service name status
it says it's running and the daemon accepts requests from clients in the network, only the executable it runs as a response to a client request does not work properly.
If I manually restart the service, as with service name restart everything works OK until the next system reboot.
Somehow the context in which the daemon runs is not OK after boot, and it becomes OK after manual restart.
I just got a graphics card ATI installed on my fedora 10. I would like to see the functioning of the same with some kind of game. Any suggestions for game under fedora 10 to see the graphics application.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need static networking to be functional on F14 to try freeipa....the problem I have is I am unable to get eth0 to start. Knowing the software it has to be eth0 or it will likely not work... The guest is in a RHEV6svr environment... So I have disabled NetworkManager and enabled networ and set manula settings in ifcfg-eth0 incl the hware address but eth0 wont start on boot....
next I tried setting a e1000 network card after the hypervisor default didnt work, only to find that this doesnt work either. The MAC addresses are changing as I try and fault find a dead DNS client issue (yet another F14 issue but lets not go there yet, it could be RHEV's "funky" NATing setup)....so I suspect F14 has got its knickers in a twist over the MAC for ETH0....I keep changing it and I suspect it cant keep up.....so I need to disable the automatic function(s), if there is one....
So somewhere down in the code there is probably a line saying eth0= <mac address> but despite greping I cant find that.....or not something that I edit and it then works.... I have tried the gui tools and command line tools and I still have no network..... So what would be a totally CLI process to fix this automated crap? ie stop F14 pointing at the wrong MAC for eth0?

I've installed Fedora 14 in a PC. It runs an application where particular event execute by clicking the left mouse button.Problem is that, left button click doesn't work properly. Sometime event executes with simple double click and sometimes after 5-7 double clicks only, event execute.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm Using FC14 and i like it so far. been trying around a bit and made searches for my problem but either im blind or im the only one with this problem (which i doubt) i have a problem of the keyboard "dying" on me mid using it. it doesnt seem to matter what im doing, it still goes dead on me sporadicly. ive tried changing to 4 different keyboards. PS2 and usb keyboards. but all 4 keeps sporadicly dying on me until i reboot and it works again until its dies.im wondering if the problem is in the hardware detection somewhere..if you need hardware information it would be nice if you posted commands so i understand what you need

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Toshiba Qosmio G50 Laptop and I have recently installed Fedora 11 on it, dual booting with Windows Vista. The problem has to do with the internal microphone which works in Windows but NOT in Fedora.
I tried to record a sound but I can not hear my voice and I also made a test call using Skype and got the same result. I do not hear my voice at all. When I made a normal call nobody could hear me.
I have searched a lot in the net for a solution and I found that a lot of people say this has to do with pulse audio and they suggest to uninstall it. I do so but nothing happened.
The only change I noticed was that, in Skype Sound Options there were more options to choose for microphone and speakers (before there was only one - the pulse audio server). Whatever option I use I had the same results so I installed back pulse audio.
Most of Audio is not operational including the Mic, the drivers are ALSA and,PulseAudio, it seems the Pulse is sitting on top of ALSA, and blocking its function, the alasmixer , only displays one column, which is the MASTER.The rest of Speakers Mics etc are not there. No sound can be recorded.The same microphone works fine on my Windows 7, so at least I can eliminate hardware issue.I have never used microphone on my F12 before

The speakers on my laptop work perfectly fine, so sound output isn't a problem, and Fedora seems to identify that I have a mic somewhere (I actually have one next to my webcam and a plug for an external mic). However, none of the two work, even though I have turned up the volume everywhere for the mic, even in alsamixer in the Terminal. How to get my mic working? My laptop is a Acer Aspire 6530.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running F13 64 on my HP G72 Laptop. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of my microphone. When I go into alsamixer I have to manually select my card HDA Intel G45, however it reverts back to the one named default.
I have saved the settings using "alsactl store" which does indeed lock in the volume levels but doesn't make the Intel card the default.
Kmix is of no use and the alsmixer GUI is terrible.
So my question is how do I make the HDA Intel card default?
I am using KDE and Fedora 14 (13 had the same issue) and i can't capture sound from microphone or use skype. I tried to fix this with alsamixer - but it didn't helped me, lspci shows, that there is sound device

so forgive me if this is something easy to do that I just haven't figured out yet, but I just got Skype and my mic isn't working. I've seen other threads that wanted me to install pavucontrol, but that doesn't recognise my internal mic. Another one said to unmute my mic in terminal, but when I ran the command, it didn't work. I have checked the audio settings and found that the mic is enabled. I know that the mic is working as it works fine when I am booted onto my Windows partition.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have some experience using linux systems, but my recent Fedora 10 (x86_64) install is my first attempt at installing and maintaining my own. I installed it to a clean second hard drive in my computer (Vista and XP partitions were previously installed on the first drive).The install was a bit of a fight, anaconda seemed to dislike my graphics card (ATI HD2900) and I finally got this issue resolved by running the install with 'linux xdriver=vesa'. Once the install completed I had to run a repair install to get a functioning grub, and even that I had to manually fix during the boot process because grub mixed up the two hard drives.
In Fedora I cannot choose any widescreen resolutions. I think this is either related to my hacky install process or ATI driver incompatibilities. I followed the URL... guide to try to update the drivers and have run a full system update. Neither has resolved my problems, and now I am fresh out of ideas.
Is there some other driver update process I should try, or should I just reformat the drive and try again with crossed fingers and a clean Fedora install?As an infuriating side note, I helped a friend install from the same DVD after my install fearing he might have the same issues, but the installer seemed to do everything automatically (his install was also on a second drive with Vista on the first, but his video card is a newer model ATI card than mine).
My F12 is connected to a Xerox DC432 printer on the network. The problem I'm facing is that banner sheet cannot be disable. The configuration setting on Administration->Printing showed that banner is off by default. "/etc/cups/printers.conf" file also have "JobSheets none none". I had the same problem with F11. Is there any step I'm missing? It doesn't seem to be problem of the printer itself because I could do this on a Windows OS.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy wireless gets randomly disabled in my Acer Timeline 3810 with F11. The time it can take is basically random, but most of the times it ends up happening. I get disconnected, and then in the network manager in gnome panel wireless network appears disables and in fact the option appears grayed out. The only thing I can do to get it back workinh is restart.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I moved from Fedora 13 from Fedora 11, I thought the annoying application crashes that I had been having were gone for good. Random crashes - firefox, Thunderbird, Abrt, metacity and what have you with SIGSEGV errors. I'm beginning to believe that these are not down to Fedora or even the RAM (Have run Memtest, several times). I'm not sure if what I am seeing are signs of IRQ conflicts of some sort. Can someone, please have a look and give me some guidance on what to do? Should I reinstall with acpi=off ? noapic? Also, don't have a clue why the system complains of ECC being disabled? The RAM is non-ECC. I have posted some sections of the logs here with links to the full logs instead of making this a massive post.
