Fedora :: Microphone Not Working HDA Intel 13?

Oct 19, 2010

I am running F13 64 on my HP G72 Laptop. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of my microphone. When I go into alsamixer I have to manually select my card HDA Intel G45, however it reverts back to the one named default.

I have saved the settings using "alsactl store" which does indeed lock in the volume levels but doesn't make the Intel card the default.

Kmix is of no use and the alsmixer GUI is terrible.

So my question is how do I make the HDA Intel card default?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Internal Microphone Not Working For HDA Intel ALC269?

Apr 2, 2011

I just installed ubuntu 10.10 about 10 days ago, an experience that has been both amazing because its really hard for me to go back to windows already, and frustrating because I'm having a little issue: my internal microphone is not working.here is some relevant info:I had alsa 1.0.23 and decided to upgrade thinking it would solve my problems so I ran the script to install 1.0.24, and for a day or two I lost my sound, without getting back my mic, and just like that the sound came back.I read a lot of posts out there, and ,ade sure I unmuted my mic in alsa soundmixer and pulseaudio.

I ran this:
sudo aplay -l
result:

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Microphone / Audio Capture Not Working Hda-intel Realtek ALC880

Apr 6, 2010

I'm using openSUSE 11.2 KDE on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 laptop. My problem is that my microphone (I'm attempting to use a 3.5mm headset) doesn't work. Audio playback however does work through the built-in speakers and headphones.

I have gone through the SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE as suggested by oldcpu on the Welcome to multimedia sub-area sticky.

I have tested audio recording with

Code:
arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav resulting in a silent recording. The vumeter showed 0% during the recording.

Here is my url produced by the alsa-info script:[URL]

rpm -qa '*alsa*'

Code:
alsa-plugins-1.0.21-3.3.i586
alsa-1.0.21-3.2.i586
alsa-oss-1.0.17-25.2.i586
alsa-devel-1.0.21-3.2.i586

Fedora Hardware :: How To Get Microphone Working In - 12/13

Apr 29, 2010

I have a problem with my mic....and I have no idea why. The speakers on my laptop work perfectly fine, so sound output isn't a problem, and Fedora seems to identify that I have a mic somewhere (I actually have one next to my webcam and a plug for an external mic). However, none of the two work, even though I have turned up the volume everywhere for the mic, even in alsamixer in the Terminal. How to get my mic working? My laptop is a Acer Aspire 6530.

Fedora Hardware :: Microphone Not Working?

Jun 14, 2011

so forgive me if this is something easy to do that I just haven't figured out yet, but I just got Skype and my mic isn't working. I've seen other threads that wanted me to install pavucontrol, but that doesn't recognise my internal mic. Another one said to unmute my mic in terminal, but when I ran the command, it didn't work. Does anyone know how to fix it?I'm using an Acer Aspire One netbook and the internal webcam works, so the hardware is working. Thanks for your time!---------- Post added at 04:40 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:35 AM ----------

Fedora Hardware :: Conexant CX20549 (Venice) - Microphone Not Working In 14

Feb 24, 2011

Microphone (internal & external) is not working.

This is widely known and documented on the internet, and apparently no trivial fixes (alsa settings etc.) will solve this issue.

The best written reference for this is this Ubuntu bug tracker page: [URL]

It also doesn't work in Ubuntu but a person there (c4pp4) managed to create a patch for this.

Do you think this patch could be integrated into Fedora? What could I do to make this happen? Also, do you recommend any other approaches to this issue?

Fedora Hardware :: Intel Wireless 3945 ABG Not Working?

Jan 23, 2010

I have an Intel 3945ABG WiFi card in my Laptop (Dell Inspiron 6400). The problem is that I'm not able to get my card detect the Wireless Network. I'll list the prolem more specifially below. O.S. Fedora 12 x86-64

1. The Network Icon on the Taskbar (is it what it is called here in Linux??) shows Wireless is Disabled under the Wireless Networks. Wired Net works fine.

2. If I goto System->Pref->Network Connection the Network Tab is empty.

3.Under System->Admin->Network Config I can see two Devices; one is eth0 (active) with a checked check box. Second is wlan0 which is Inactive and has a checked Checkbox. The Activate and Deactivate buttons are disabled for both these. If I go and see in the Properties of the wlan0 it says controlled by Network Manager checked but the Network Manager comes up empty.

4. This forces me to remove that "controlled by network manager box" which enables the activate and deactivate buttons. Now I can Activate my wlan0 adapter and the light on the Laptop for WiFi starts up. During startup (activation I get this error in the pop-up box:

Error for wireless request "Set Mode" (8B06):SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.). But the popup eventually closes auto. The Network Config box now shows it active but the Taskbar Icon still shows Wireless is disabled. And still the Network Connections has an empty box under Wireless tab. I donno what to do next. The card worked fine with Ubunto 9.04, openSuSE 11.2 (both 32 bit btw) and Fedora 11 again 32 bit.

Fedora Hardware :: Intel Ethernet Adapter Not Working

Dec 22, 2010

I recently got Fedora 14 installed and much to my dismay my Ethernet adapter (Intel 82566DC) didn't work. This is left me disconnected from the internet and made it impossible to install any packages. Googling and searching the forums got me these bits of information: [URL]. From what I gather, the 2.6.35 kernel is at fault. So I can solve this by installing the most recent e1000e ethernet drivers. Long story cut short, it didn't work too well for me. I couldn't simply make+make install it, which demanded other packages to be installed first. These in turn had other dependencies. After several failed attempts and ideas I'm at my wits and end and left with two options:

1. Installing an RPM (hopefully it shouldn't have any dependencies). Is there a site where I can download the driver RPM directly? I can't install and use rpmbuild, because I can't even connect to the internet.
2. Waiting for a newer version of the kernel. How long will I have to wait and how easy will it be to update it, without internet connectivity?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Intel PRO 2100 Not Working - RF Killswitch Button Not Working At All?

Feb 18, 2010

I followed the sticky about setting up wireless and I have come to an issue where the WLAN switch which is on this computer can be pressed, the light comes on, but no WLAN. When I looked in dmesg, this is what I get:

ipw2100: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 Network Connection
firmware: requesting ipw2100-1.3.fw
eth0: Radio is disabled by RF switch.

When running iwconfig wlan0 heres what I get:

home/j-dub # iwconfig eth0
wlan0 unassociated ESSID off/any Nickname:"ipw2100"
Mode:Managed Channel=0 Access Point: Not-Associated

[code]....

Notice it says that the 'Radio is disabled by switch' in dmesg. I can press that switch until the end of the world comes and it does absolutely nothing but make the WLAN light put on a light show. And it shows the wlan to be unassociated with any clients. So, what are my options to get this Wireless up and working?

Computer/OS info:

Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M7400
1.4GHz Intel Centrino R
